My iphone 4 works but the screen went black after it got shot with a paintball. What is wrong with it?
I went paintballing and i forgot i had my iphone in my pocket. I realized I was getting a call and my phone screen didnt work. It didnt crack it just went black. Everythin else works just not that. What is wrong with it?
try holding and pressing the sleep button and home button together for a few seconds and see if there will be any change in the screen and apple logo should appear after 10 seconds or so if not i guess its a problem with the screen itself maybe darkened pixels or maybe a wire is cut off

You can take it to Apple and get replaced as long as you pay for the replacement.

IPhone 4S working but the screen is black
My iPhone screen is completely black but the phone works perfectly. I can connect it to the MAC, i can use Reflector to see everything, music, camera.. Everything works, but to see the phone's screen i need a torchlight. The fact is, that when i switch it on, i can see the Apple logo for a second and i can see everything when the phone is switched off (example: when charging i can see perfectly the battery icon, or "Connect to iTunes" ecc...). I tried to restore the phone from backup, to reset it, pressing home and the power button, DFU mode... EVERYTHING.
My question is: will buying a new LCD screen solve my problem? If not, any idea?You need to make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar to have it evaluated by the techs there. We are just users like you and cannot possibly diagnose what's wrong with your phone without looking at it.

My iPhone 4 is in very good condition. But this morning i was on my phone and it froze. So i just put it down and waited for it to go back to normal. A few minutes later the screen went completely black. I though it just turned off so i pressed the home button but nothing happened. It was at about 80% battery so i knew it didn't die, but i tried plugging it in to see what would happen. My phone made the sound that it usually makes when I plug it into a charger but still the screen was blank. I tired to plug my phone into my mac to restart it in iTunes but it never connected. It only connected to iPhoto. I've tried holding down the lock and home button until the apple logo came on the screen but it never did. I don't know what to do. I know I should take it into the apple store but I want to try to get it to work at home instead of having to go all the way out there. Please if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
If you have attempted the reset, which is holding the home button and sleep/wake button, was it still connected to the computer? Have you tried to do that when not connected. You stated it never came on, how long did you hold the buttons together? If you cannot get it to connect to iTunes then you would not be able to restore the device. You can see if you can put the device into Recovery Mode by following the instructions in this support document. If that does not work, then you are correct, make an appointment at the Apple Store. Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.

I have a iq 804 and tried to upgrade to win 8, but the screen goes black after windows update.
i have been working with microsoft support for 5 hours everyday for the last 5 days. they could not help, now they ask to wait for hp to come out with new drivers to support win 8.any idea if they are going to add those since my computer is 3 years old

Hi sandy,
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time for up to 20 seconds. Hopefully the Silver Apple will display, which will mean the phone is resetting (no data will be lost). As soon as the Silver Apple appears, release the buttons, and wait until the Home screen comes back on.
You should be OK after that.

However, I took some screenshots and when I went to upload the pictures to my Mac, the screenshots uploaded. So I believe my phone still is working but the screen is just not turning on. I tried holding down the home and top button for ten seconds, even longer, but nothing occurred. I am hoping to find a possible solution so I do not have to buy a new phone. Thank you!
The backlight burned out from getting it wet. You will have to replace the screen at a 3rd party shop, buy a screen and replace it yourself, or make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and do an out-of-warranty replacement for $199 USD.

IPhone black screen does not show anything, but I can hear that the device works. I hear the lock open the screen and hear the iPod but the screen remains black!!
It's happened to me before as well. Try holding both lock(top right) and home buttons simultaneously until u see a slight flash of wight then just reboot it normally. If that doesn't work try restoring your device from itunes

We just moved from the United States to Costa Rica. The first two days my mac worked great. Then all of a sudden I was trying to use a game application and the screen went black and there is a white cursor which I can move around, but I can't escape it. When I restart it seems okay and I see my main screen, but only for a second and then it goes black again.

Have you tried resetting your iPhone, press and hold the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider, then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing this.
