My iPhone 4 would not turn on. Restart is not working.
I had the iPhone (a gift, service paid for by my sister) for 3 weeks. Worked completely fine from the time it was activated. I recharged it daily. Then one day I was using the phone as the charge was getting low. I turned it off and plugged in the lightning cord to recharge. The next morning the phone would not turn on. All I could get was a low battery warning, then the screen went blank. Restting wouldn't get to the apple symbol on screen. Just 2 low battery symbols then blank. I checked the port for lint or obstructions. None. I used someone else's lightning cord for iPhone 4. Nothing. I tried recharging it on my computer. Nothing. I'd been extremely careful with it and never put in in my pants pocket. Extremely frustrating, since the nearest Apple Store is 2 very inconvenient bus routes away. I tried calling Apple but, frankly, got 2 Geniuses who were not helpful one of whom actually laughed at me b/c I had trouble finding the serial number. HELP! PLEASE!

my iphone 4 would not back-up to to pc "because an error occurred" anyone offer any solutions to this, I want to restore my phone to factory settings and reinstall my data but cannot back up first. Original problem is that I cannot connect to any wifi system anymore - have tried resetting network settings but did not work.
Try 1 step at a time and do a backup, if no joy then do the next step:
1. Switching off your anti-virus and firewall.
2. Computer iTunes menu > Edit > Preferences... > Devices > delete your backup -

You don't provide much info on which version of iOS you started with, what iOS you updated to and what version of iTunes is on your computer. Be nice to know also if you are using a Mac or a pc to sync.
But I'll make a guess that you have a Mac and it has an older version of OSX on it. I'll also guess that you updated to iOS 6.1.3 and now find that iTunes on your Mac will not recognize your iPhone.
iOS 6.1.3 requires iTunes 10.7 or later.
iTunes 10.7 and later ( iTunes 11.0.1 is the cur recent version of iTunes) requires Mac OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or later. The latest version of OSX is 10.8.3.
If this is the case for you the only way you can sync with your computer is to upgrade your OSX to at least 10.6.8 and install iTunes 11.
Not all macs can update to OSX 10.6.8. -

All I did was install Zedge app in my PC and Iphone and try to download a ringtone from it. Please if someone can help me I would appreciate it.
ThanksSettings, Mail Contacts and Calendars, Select the Gmail account, Select "Fetch new Data, and you can try changing the interval to PUSH. If that doesn't work, change the Fetch frequency to something shorter. It sounds like you have it set to manually.

Given the information supplied, it sounds very similar to what happened to my wife's 4. Locked up...came back on with a blank (bluish) screen...could here emails and text coming through. It would get very hot as well. Our local apple store tried two times to rescue it, ultimately rendering it complete inoperable. I'm sorry to say in our case we had to buy a refurb and trade in the phone for $150, which actually wasn't a bad deal.
There could be other information I'm missing, but I would start with seeing if apple can restore your phone. If they can't, then I'm pretty sure it's dead. -

Reboot your Wi-Fi router by turning it off for thirty seconds, then turn it back on. Wait until it finishes its startup routine and indicates a good connection to the internet. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I have an iphone 4 that i bought about two weeks ago from a cell phone repair place. It was working fine up until this morning. I woke up this morning and unplugged my phone from the charger. It was fine then. I went to go to work this morning and my phone would not work. I tried restarting it, but when it gets to the screen where you have to hold and drag the icon it freezes. when i try to shut it off the power button won't work forcing me to restart it. When I plug it into a charger it won't even go the the first screen, it just restarts itself over and over again. I don't know what is wrong with it but I have no idea what to do. please help.
Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appears.
If that will not work, then you need to take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check it.
You could take it back to the store where you bought it but it sounds like they do not know exactly what they are doing. -

The other possible things you can try would include...
Inserting the lightning connector and applying a little bit of pressure up under the Home button.
Some folks have cleaned the Home button with a few drops of isopropic alochol caring to not get it on your screen. This is only going to get things working again if it has been gummed up through normal use
If you are still within the one-year warranty or extended it with Apple Care don't try any of these steps just take it to Apple. -

My iPhone 3gs is not working properly and hasn't been since about September of last year. When switched on (Quite often it won't even turn on) it says 'Update Completed' as though it has just been updated. On the next screen it says to 'Connect to iTunes'. It doesn't, however, connect to iTunes and just resets itself over and over until power is gone. Occasionally after switching on and off a few times it functions normally for a few hours and some times even a couple of days but eventually always turns itself off and goes back to the 'Update Completed' screen. Does anyone know what might be causing this and/or a way of fixing it?
