My iphone 4s goes back to home screen during text and apps. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from doing that?

Can you tell me how to prevent my phone from crashing and returning to the home screen while I am in the middle of a text or in an app?

When was the last time you powered your iPhone off and on?
Try a reset instead which is similar to a computer restart. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Could also be not enough free space for the iPad to operate efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free. For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
If neither of these suggestions helps, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Email from 1 person will not open, goes back to home screen on iPad and iPhone

I used to be able to open emails (Gmail account) from this person, but for the last week his emails will not open. On my iPhone and iPad, when I click on his email I go back to the home screen. I can open the email from my laptop just fine.
Any ideas?

If it happens again, do the following (which will not harm any content on your device): Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon). Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

IOS 8.1 Safari not loading, goes back to home screen

I have an iPhone 5, 5S and ipad air all on version 8.1. Safari is not working on any of them. It tries to load, the blank safari screen comes up, then it crashes and goes back to home screen. I have to use google chrome to access the internet. I tried restoring my one phone to factory, installed the backup, reset the safari data, reset network settings and still no help. Can anyone tell me how the **** to delete safari and re-install it? I don't know what else to do about this issue.

ok. seems to be working now. i wiped (settings/general/reset/erase all content and settings) the iphone6plus that had 8.1 on it and backed up from a backup made with 8.0.2.
Mail is now loading instantly. but now i have to load all my passwords again for everything - even though i had encrypted backups. weird.

1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
     used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine

Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. If the phone is taken to a store, troubleshooting can indeed be done. The store representative can even contact us while you're there. Do you have insurance on the device? Or, do you maybe have a prior vzw device that can be activated until the upgrade is available? You can also check your My Verizon account to see if your line( or another line on the account) is eligible for an upgrade. VZW always has options for you.

this is happening more and more.. I try to google something and the screen goes dark and I am back at my home page or app screen. It has done it with a few app and now the app store.

See if any of these basic troubleshooting steps help at all.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Close all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
