  • Iphone 4 askes to setup as new phone when plugged into iTunes

I have an iPhone 4 that has already been setup using iCloud.  I want to make a backup on my MAC.  When I plug it into iTunes it only gives me options to setup as a new phone or restore from backup.  It will not let me just back up this existing phone, authorize it on this computer or anything.  The oply option it is giving me is to setup as new or restore from backup.

    Try Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

  • HT5278 my iphone 4s will not charge or be recognized when plugged into the computer after the ios 5.1.1 software update why is this?

my iphone 4s will not charge or be recognized when plugged into the computer after the ios 5.1.1 software update why is this? i have used many usb cords also.

Had same problem and did the normal reset 10seconds but did not work.
I plugged in USB and held the on/off switch and home button for 20seconds and the "Connect to Itunes" came on the screen. I then opened up Itunes and it directed me to restore.

  • TS1503 My iPhone 4 says that there is not enough memory to download apps like Facebook and Instagram. When plugged into iTunes it says that 4GB is filled with "other". How do I clear the "other"?  What is this?

My iPhone 4 says that there is not enough memory to download apps like Facebook and Instagram. When plugged into iTunes it says that >4GB is filled with "other". How do I clear the "other"?  What is this?

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A  ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

  • I'm trying to update iphone 4s to 5.1 but when plugged into Itunes it says network connection cannot be established and error downloading 5.1

I'm having trouble updating software for my iphone 4s from 5.0.1 to 5.1 but each time i plug into itunes to download it says network connection cannot be established and the phone just says an error has occured.  What can i do?

If you don't have iOS 5, plug your iPhone into your computer, select it in iTunes, and in the Summary, click Check for Update.
If you do have iOS 5, it has onboard updates so you don't have to plug it in, just go to Settings, click General, click Software Update and you will be presented with iOS 5.1 which came out a few hours ago. Both my iPhone 3GS and iPad are already updated to iOS 5.1 now.

  • Iphone 4 plug into iTunes beeps 2 times then flashes

the phone name flashes when you plug into itunes and try to open upthe pnone. also the photo download comes up but flashes and will not download, almost like a bad connection but i've changed the connector but still does the same thing

And when you Googled "iPhone error 21" what did  you learn?

  • Iphone likes to shut down on its own when handled

For the last week my iphone has got a mind of its own and like to try to shut down on its own. Sometimes it would give me the red button+slide to turn off...sometimes it just goes to the Apple logo then shuts down.
No hacks on it, maybe two apps max like ebay so really nothing that would point out to an issue. This is also a replacement my original phone had a screen issue this summer where you could not touch anything else than the bottom bar. I swapped it for this one so it is virtually new.
Not sure if it is the button on the top that is stuck and it does not look like it.
Any similar experiences? I heard other users had issues with their iphone shutting down for no reason.

It does sound like the Sleep/Wake button may be stuck or overly sensitive.
If you lightly tap on it, does the phone turn off?

  • Macbook Air shuts down if it is not plugged into the power outlet through the adapter. What is happening?

    Problem description:
Mid-2013 Macbook Air 13 inch. Shuts down when unplugged from power adapter. It 1st started just shutting down intermittently on battery power. Sometimes when it powers back-up on the battery power only the fan would be blowing hard. But it is now at the point that if it is not connected to the power adapter it will not come on. I have tried resetting SMC and PRAM but to no avail. The battery is showing 100% charge with only 137 battery cycle count.

Tried to reset SMC many times but it didn't change anything. The battery however is no longer being charged by the adapter even the computer is plugged in. The light remains orange. I restored to one of my earlier back-ups on time machine with Mavericks and the iWorm and malware returned. So, I decided to erase the hard drive and restore to original OS. I was able to restore to Yosemite. Here is the result of the latest estrecheck and battery info:

At this point, the computer works fine with the adapter plugged in, light remains orange, the battery is not being charged. I believe the computer will still turn off once I unplugged the adapter from the computer although the battery is supposedly 88% charged.
If this is a hardware problem I hope it's just the battery. I believe that's the next step I have to take. Unless anyone has any other ideas.

  • Ipod touch won't turn on, just shows the apple logo - even when plugged into Itunes?

I have an Ipod touch 8GB - it's virtually never been used. I have tried to charge it up but nothing happens - it just displays an apple logo. I have plugged it into Itunes but again nothing happens. Any ideas?
    Thanks K.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPhone 4 does not allow me to sync wirelessly when plugged into itunes? How do I fix this? I am running leopard on a macbook pro. Could that be the issue?

I have updated my iphone software to ios5 and everything is working perfectly except for the wireless sync. When I plug my phone into my computer (I'm using a MacBook Pro running leopard) it does not give me the option to check the box in the summary section to sync wirelessly. Can anyone help? Please and thanks

stefani88 wrote: It seems from other discussions my current OS on my laptop is the reason why it won't sync but people running older versions of windows aren't having a problem. So I don't get it.
Oh. Gosh.  What's Windows got to do with anything? You're on Leopard, on a Mac.
It seems from other discussions my current OS on my laptop is the reason why it won't sync

  • My iPhone screen turned green and pink and now wont turn on or off and is unresponsive. Tried holding down power/sleep button, tried plugging into itunes, all with no success. HELP!

I was just playing on my phone when it froze. The screen flashed green and pink then I had to hold down the power button until the green and pink slowly faded away. The phone is completely unresponsive. Wont power on or off, isnt recognized by computer

Did you also try to connect in recovery mode, explained here:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • Iphone no longer backs up when plugged into itunes

    Hi guys,
I think this started after updating to iOS5.
Previously, when I would plug my phone in, it would sync AND create a backup. Now however, it simply does not. I recently realized on the summary screen that my latest backup for my iPhone was several weeks old.
In itunes "Back up to this computer" is ticked. Under preferences "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" is not ticked.
I have experimented with "sync with this phone over Wi-Fi" On or off that doesen't seem to force a backup.
If I click the "sync" button in the bottom right corner, it will sync and create a backup. However, I would really like to have the process be more automated.
My guess is that Apple is making this harder because they want everyone to backup via iCloud? Or am I missing something?
    Jake

No, it's not crippled.  Mine works exactly the way it always has after upgrading to iOS5.
    Connect the device.
On the summary tab, which option is selected for backup?  Backup to this comptuer or Backup to iCloud?

  • Tried updating my iPhone to 8.3 yesterday. iPhone 5 now dead and unresponsive even if I plug into iTunes. Help!

Yesterday I tried upgrading my iPhone 5 to 8.3. Phone told me not enough storage so deleted some stuff and proceeded. It then had a circle going round and round and wouldn't do the upgrade. I had to restart my phone a couple of times but it seemed ok. This morning went out with it 100% charged. Noticed it wasn't getting any phone signal so attempted a restart. Since then all i get is the apple logo on a black screen for a few seconds then it goes and nothing else happens.
I have tried leaving the phone in. Tried turning the volume switch on and off then restarting. Tried plugging it in to computer to do a recovery from iTunes but it's not showing on iTunes (which is up to date). Does this mean it's completely dead? It's infuriating as I'm a month away from a free upgrade from O2!!!
    Any ideas gratefully received.

what you do is you put your phone into DFU mode, you do this by powering off your phone and then, hold home and sleep button, the apple logo will come up after it goes away let go of sleep button and hold home until it says connect to iTunes. This should work, it will give you the option to restore or back up your phone.
