My iphone 4s keeps dropping service

I have just bought an iPhone 4s. It is my 4th day and it keeps dropping service. I have spoken to Vodafone, who say its the sim card. What can I do? Currently I am having to restart the phone for service to come back

If Vodafone says it is the SIM card, you need to get a new micro-SIM card from Vodafone.

  • My Iphone 5 keeps dropping signal (no service) in good service areas?

Help my iphone 5 keeps dropping signal saying no service then after a while it gets service again, sometimes this can take up to an hour. Also if i toggle airplane mode it sometimes comes back or if i switch the phone on and off it comes back. This is happening in areas of good signal. Back in January my phone did get wet but i dryed it off and its been faultless ever since apart from this recent problem of no signal. I have an Genius appointment booked for this Thursday to see what they will do about it, will they just blame it on the water eventhough i have seen this problem time and time again on the Internet and the best way seems to replace the faulty phone.?

Try restarting your iPhone. Press and hold the power and home button for 10 seconds and then turn your device back on. Otherwise, the place where you currently are may not have very good signal for ATT.

  • I unlocked a iPhone4 thru ATT, then installed a TMobile SIM. The phone works, but keeps dropping service.  Can I do a Restore with the TMobile SIM in it?

I successfully unlocked an ATT iPhone4 with ATT SIM, then installed a TMobile SIM. After TMobile walked me thru some manual Setting changes, the phone works.  However, now it keeps dropping service.  Can I do a Restore with the TMobile SIM in it?

Nope. It still switches between service, 'no service', 'searching', and then I get service for a while.  Very frustrating.  I live in a 2G area, which I thought might be the problem, but had it in a 3G area today and still lost service randomly.
I guess I will have to go to the TMoblile store and ask for another SIM.
    Any other suggestions?
They told me that if the phone was not a TMobile phone, they do not guarantee service.
This is a Pay-As-You-Go plan.  Wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the iPhone hardware/firmware and the TMobile SIM?
My old TMobile Samsung t249 with the same plan did not have this problem.

  • Why does my iphone 4 keep dropping wifi connection since ios5.0.1update

Why does my iphone 4 keep dropping wifi connection since ios5.0.1 update, it worked perfectly before, my wifes 3gs connects fine and stays connected while my £400 paperweight losses connection, thinking of going back to nokia! Sort it out apple!

If the "oh so Great Apple" were to monitor these forums then they might see all the problems
that the people who have paid good money for their devices are having, i suppose they can do no wrong
In your eyes, i just thought that if you pay a lot of money for a product that works fine, and you update
It with a firmware update that they kept going on about how good it was and it can do this and it can
Do that, then i think they should sort it out. I don't care if i "don't deserve to be an apple owner" or not,
The fact is i paid my money and it should do what its suppose to do, i moved from Nokia to Apple because
The N97 was crap and i put up with it for too long, and they didn't do anything to fix the bugs they just stopped
Selling it and basically said tough s**t, so now this is happened i hoped Apple whould be better but they seem
To be just like the rest.

  • My Iphone5 keeps dropping service

just over the past week my Iphone5 seems to be dropping service.  I have AT&T and the others in the shop with the Iphone5 are still showing strong signal while mine shows searching or no service.  What's up and can I fix it?

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore
Follow the 3R's- if a restart does not solve your problem proceed
    User troubleshooting is:
    1.restart, ie power off/on,
    2. reset  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430,
    3. restore from backup, restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • IPhone 5 keeps dropping connection to iTunes/Mac

I have had my iPhone 5 for almost a week and I have had recurring problems with my connection to my Retina Macbook Pro.
I plug my iPhone into my RMBP, via lightning/USB cable, and more often then not my computer does not recognize that any device has been plugged in.
In the off chance that it makes a solid connection then everything works fine (syncing is a bit slower than my iPhone 4) until something happens and my computer loses connection with the iPhone.
I'm not moving anything once a sync begins, however it still drops the iPhone.
    Everything is brand new.
Is this the cable, software, or the iPhone itself?

Okay, so I went to the genius bar today and spoke to two Apple geniuses, each of whom had a possible solution. Neither one worked for me, but both are good ideas and they may work for someone reading this thread so I'll include them here.   I also tried one other thing which worked for me.  I'll list that below.
Genius 1's Idea - Do a complete uninstall of iTunes before reinstalling. SInce there is no uninstaller for iTunes, she suggested a program called AppZapper, which would remove iTunes and all associated files.  I tried this and AppZapper works fast as advertised.  Unfortunately, it fixed nothing.
Genius 2's Idea - He was convinced it was a system problem so he suggested a clean install of the operating system, which would require a backup of all files and downloaded apps.  SInce I wasn't prepared to go to such extreme measures just yet, I tried one more thing which I should have tried much earlier...
My Idea - I launched Disk Utility and ran Verify Disk, followed by Repair Permissions.  It found and repaired many damaged resource files, most of them belonging to iTunes, Image Capture, and iPhoto, the exact programs that were unable to see my iPhone.  Anyway, this worked.  iTunes kicks in instantly upon plugging in the iPhone, and appears in the Devices list just as it should.  And it may be my imagination, but everything seems to run a little zippier now.
So Genius 2 was half right.  It was the system that was broken.  But doing a clean install turned out to be unnecessary.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 6 keeps dropping wifi, then freezes.

I've only had this phone for 2 weeks. And I have to hard reset it at least once a day because it drops my wifi and then won't let me turn it off via the power button.

Same issue here, but with iPhone 5s and iPad Air with Cisco Linksys EA3500 dual band N router. IOS 7 and Mavericks worked fine. Once I upgraded both iOS devices to iOS 8 I began to have issues. If I toggle wifi off/on it temporarily fixes the issue, but when I leave the device sit for a while (screen locks, etc.) it loses connectivity when I unlock the screen and try to use it again. Tried resetting networking, but still an issue.
I just traded my iPad Air at the Apple Store for an iPad Air 2 yesterday and my new iPad has the same issue! My 2011 13" MBP also now has the issue since upgrading to Yosemite. Like with iOS, toggling the wifi off/on temporarily fixes the issue. Before with Mavericks it worked fine.
Both my work laptop (Lenovo\Windows 7) and Kindle still work fine using the same router
I Get the same results with the G or N bands, and both devices are on the latest iOS (8.1)

  • Why does my Iphone 4s keep dropping the network

Hi there, my 4s has just started dropping the network (Vodafone) today, it has no service for 5 mins or so then full signal for about a minute. It seems to be repeating this over and over.... Has anyone any similar type of problem? If so can you help with a solution? It's driving me nuts!

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restart the device.
    Replace the SIM card.
Address issue with carrier regarding their network.
Has any of the above been done?

  • Brand new 5s dropping service

i have a brand new, out of the box less than 24 hours 5s.  it keeps dropping service and tells me "no sim card".  I thought iphones didn't have a SIM card?  help

All iPhone 5 series have SIM cards. If it is brand new take it back to the carrier's store or to an Apple store and they will replace the SIM. Which may fix it. I had exactly the same experience today - a phone I purchased yesterday at an AT&T store worked all day today until this evening, then it displayed NO SIM. Replacing the SIM fixed it (so far).

  • My iphone4 keeps dropping calls

Hi my iphone 4 keeps dropping calls mid conversation and i keep breaking up making my phone almost useless at work however my 3gs used to work fine any ideas?? (p.s. any help in laymen terms please) thanks

The causes could be Carrier related... They may be doing work on the Cell Towers...
To see if it is Phone related here's a couple of things to try...
First:  Goto Settings > General > Reset.. Then Reset Network Settings and Click on Reset Network Settings...
Give it a minute or so to Perform the Reset...
If that doesn't help... Try this...
You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If none of the above resolve your Issue... then take the Phone to your Local Apple Store and get them to have a look... Be sure to make an appointment first...
