My iPhone 4s keeps saying "connect to iTunes"

okay, this is long so bare with me. So I earased everything off my phone and set it as a "new phone" so I could downald iOS7. When iOS7 finished dowloading, my phone said "connect to iTunes" so I connected it to iTunes. It was almost finished adding everything back onto my phone when it said it couldn't be finished. I decided to sync it again, and it said all my music and apps were being synced back onto the phone. When I check iTunes to see if it was still syncing it said it had finished so I checked my phone and it said "connected to iTunes" so I disconnected it, when I did that, my phone said "connect to iTunes" so I connected it again and it synced again, and I kept on doing this until I tried connecting it in recovery mode, and restoring my phone, nothing has worked. Someone please help me.

Instead of doing full reset try going into General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings - it worked magic for me after trying all other tricks mentioned on the web. You won't loose any data BTW.

If you want to solve your problems, unjailbreak. And don't do it again, because jailbreaking causes problems as you read about in that article. You can try Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • 3rd gen appletv that keeps saying connect to itunes

I have a 3rd gen Apple TV that keeps saying connect to iTunes but I have to disconnect from iTunes and then re-connect to make it work.  I have two other apple TVs (one 3rd gen and one 1st gen) that don't have this problem.  I have them hard wired into a NETGEAR gigabit router and switches.  I have reserved the IP addresses for the computer with iTunes and the Apple TVs so its not being reassigned another IP address.  I can't for the life of me get this one Apple TV to stay connected to iTunes.  Also, when I check the devices I can use with Airplay, this Apple TV is rarely listed as a device even when I'm streaming to it.  Any help would be appreciated.

Is there left over stuff on the Mac that might be doing it? I did found an entry in localhost as leftovers from the old jailbreak, that's been fixed but I still keep getting this error.

Well anyways, sounds like it's in recovery mode. You'll need to perform a restore through iTunes on the computer.

  • Why does it keep saying connect to itunes

i cannot use most of my apps as it keeps saying connect to itunes to get push notifications. my notifications are of and i have connected to itunes but t still says that and nothing else happens. how can i stop this?

Well you're just a problem there John!
    1.  If you already downloaded and paid for a game, you can't be charged for it again, so you can delete it from your iPad and redownload it.  OR
    2.  Connect your iPad to your computer via USB and in iTunes, sync your iPad, then open it by clicking on it from the left side of your screen.  Once open, click on the apps button above and make sure you sync the game over.
Again, once you've paid for something you can't be charged again.......you'll get this sorted.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • IPhone keeps saying connect to iTunes but won't restore what should I do?

I bought a 5C and it was working fine, but needed an update and had the person I bought the phone off had their iCloud still on. I asked them for the password but as he didn't know me he said he didn't trust me so I looked online and it said to force it to restore I should put it in DFU mode then plug it in to iTunes and it will restore. Now it just displays a iTunes logo (in red) and a lightning cable and arrow. Basically telling me to plug the phone into iTunes but i do and it won't restore, i try to restore it and it says error 1, 3,18 or 2006. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! What should I do?

  • IPhone won't exit recovery mode/ keeps saying "connect to iTunes"

I recently updated my iPhone 6 plus to iOS 8.2 everything was going fine, I was able to download the new iOS. I was updating the phone when suddenly iTunes informed me that I had to restore the phone in order for it to be updated. I gladly did. And then after a while, iTunes informed me again that the device could not be found (or something like that, "like the computer can't find the iPhone"). And it went into recovery mode. It just kept showing "connect to iTunes" on the screen. I have tried restaring and reseting the phone but it comes back to the "connect to iTunes" (even though it is connected) and when I try to restore it again, the same thing happens. It's stuck in recovery mode and I can't use the phone. What should I do?
A friend of mine told me that I should not have updated to iOS 8.2 right away because it still has some bugs (?). And that this is the reason why I couldn't get past the recovery mode. Is this true? Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Ooops sorry about that. It must've been 8.1.2 then? I honestly don't remember.. I wasn't paying attention when I updated since I regularly do it for my iPad, other phones. Anyway, whatever is the latest version of the iOS, it got me stuck in recovery mode.
really sorry about the 8.2 Info

  • My brand new iPhone 5 keeps saying "Connection Unsuccessful: Make sure "___" is turned on and in range" when I try to connect to my BlueTooth Stereo.

I just bought a brand new iPhone 5 (White and Gold) and have been having trouble keeping it connected to my BlueTooth Stereo.  The stereo was purchased brand new back in September and is current on all software.  Before I had my iPhone 5, I had the iPhone 4 and had no troubles with it connecting or remembering to connect to the stereo when it was in range.  Now, in order to connect to it, I have to first "forget the device" then search for it again, find it, and connect.  As soon as I turn either the stereo off, turn the iPhone off, or switch modes on the stereo (to CD mode, radio, etc) it loses the connection and does not pick it up again.  It still shows up in my list of available bluetooth devices, but when I try to connect it says "Connection Unsuccessful: Make sure '____' is turned on and in range" which of course, it is.
I bought this stereo because I am a music teacher and use my phone frequently when teaching my classes.  You can probably imagine how cumbersome it becomes when after each class if I have alternated between using my iPhone to play music or switching to CD mode, I then need to "forget the device" and follow the steps I outlined above to get it working again.
Has anyone else had this problem with the new iPhone and does anyone have a solution (I HOPE!!!!!)
    Thanks!
    -Disgruntled Music Teacher

  • IPhone 5 keeps dropping connection to iTunes/Mac

I have had my iPhone 5 for almost a week and I have had recurring problems with my connection to my Retina Macbook Pro.
I plug my iPhone into my RMBP, via lightning/USB cable, and more often then not my computer does not recognize that any device has been plugged in.
In the off chance that it makes a solid connection then everything works fine (syncing is a bit slower than my iPhone 4) until something happens and my computer loses connection with the iPhone.
I'm not moving anything once a sync begins, however it still drops the iPhone.
    Everything is brand new.
Is this the cable, software, or the iPhone itself?

Okay, so I went to the genius bar today and spoke to two Apple geniuses, each of whom had a possible solution. Neither one worked for me, but both are good ideas and they may work for someone reading this thread so I'll include them here.   I also tried one other thing which worked for me.  I'll list that below.
Genius 1's Idea - Do a complete uninstall of iTunes before reinstalling. SInce there is no uninstaller for iTunes, she suggested a program called AppZapper, which would remove iTunes and all associated files.  I tried this and AppZapper works fast as advertised.  Unfortunately, it fixed nothing.
Genius 2's Idea - He was convinced it was a system problem so he suggested a clean install of the operating system, which would require a backup of all files and downloaded apps.  SInce I wasn't prepared to go to such extreme measures just yet, I tried one more thing which I should have tried much earlier...
My Idea - I launched Disk Utility and ran Verify Disk, followed by Repair Permissions.  It found and repaired many damaged resource files, most of them belonging to iTunes, Image Capture, and iPhoto, the exact programs that were unable to see my iPhone.  Anyway, this worked.  iTunes kicks in instantly upon plugging in the iPhone, and appears in the Devices list just as it should.  And it may be my imagination, but everything seems to run a little zippier now.
So Genius 2 was half right.  It was the system that was broken.  But doing a clean install turned out to be unnecessary.
    Hope this helps.
