My Iphone 4S needs activation and is now paper weight?

I bought an Iphone 4S from a mate a week or 2 ago, and it had IOS 7. But today it said 'Activation is acquired' and it wont let me use the phone? When i put my passcode in, it puts a white screen saying 'activation error' and saying i need to register. does anyone know whats wrong with it?

Were you, by chance, running a beta version of iOS 7 on your phone?
If so, this will be the problem. You will need to log Into the private developers forum for answers

If the phone is locked to a carrier then you will need the carrier to unlock it And only the carrier can do that.

Can anyone help me ? my iphone 3gs keeps displaying needs activation and connect to itunes when i do this nothing happens but the phone works fine but as soon as i disconect the phone it displays the same message over again and wont let me go any further

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

I keep getting the error message: CodeSign Error: code signing is required...although the app tests fine on the simulator. Does this mean that I need to pay the $99 to create the app or do you only need to pay if you want it published on iTunes?

Try resetting the device by pressing the Home and Sleep/Wake button for several seconds, the device should then boot up.

There's only one thing you can do: make an appointment with Apple genius at the Apple retail store for a out of warranty replacement.

Because an iPhone warranty is only good in the country of purchase. You will have to take it back to the USA or send it to someone there to have them take it to an Apple store.

Unlocked iPhone 4s, needs activating, won't accept GffGaff sim

Hi, i have an unlocked iphone 4s which hasn't been activated, and a GiffGaff sim card, but the phone wont recognise the sim card, i have no options if i plug it into itunes except 'eject' and no options on the phone apart from language settings, it shows signal bars from the sim card, but no network name, any help would be much appreciated

Apparently you didn't get an iPhone that was officially unlocked, but rather one that either wasn't unlocked at all (and you were flat lied to) or that was hacked to unlock it. Restoring would have removed any such hack in most cases.
Only the carrier to whom the iPhone is locked can authorize an unlock, and most carriers will not unless you have service with them. I'd suggest you go back to the unauthorized reseller from whom you purchased this iPhone for redress, since they didn't sell you what they apparently claimed. It's quite possible, though, that you may have to chalk this up as a learning experience, swallow the loss, and buy another iPhone from an authorized source.
Just so you know, unless your old iPhone was in pieces or jailbroken, Apple would have replaced it for £119 if you had taken it to an Apple Store.

I would try a complete reset of your phone. Just hold your home and sleep buttons until the screen goes blank and the apple icon shows up. If that doesn't work, you need to head off to an Apple Store. One of two things will happen: first, they fix it and show you how they fixed it (important in case it happens again), or, they give a replacement phone. You'll be happy either way.
