My iPhone 4S only plays default alert

When I first got the 4S I made a custom laert for a tweet and it played just fine. Then I got another twitter client and got rid of the default one. I realized it wouldn't play after that, so I got the default one back (the other one wasn't very good anyway). Once I started using the default twitter client again, I noticed that it was playing the default notification and not the one I had programmed for it. I didn't think it was a big deal right away because I was pretty sure I just had to go back into preferences and put it back on that alert. When I went into settings I saw that it was still on the custom effect, it just wasn't playing it. I picked something else and then went back to the alert I wanted. It still won't play anything other than the default effect. Any way of fixing this?

You probably have it in a playlist with only that one song in it.

I am having the same problem. My iPod on my iPhone only plays the song I select and it not automatically play the next song in the playlist. Shuffle does not work either. I have to actually hit the forward button which is incredibly annoying - especially when using it for my runs! I've tried settings on the iPhone, I've changed controls on my iTunes account on my computer and synced. Nothing works. Help!!! I'm running a 1/2 marathon this Sunday and I have to get this working before then!

IPhone speakers only play certain things, please read!

My iPhone has been acting up. I recently bought it and it has the new 4.0.1 software on it. The bottom speakers only play ringtones, and I can hear people on the phone just fine, and talk back to them. BUT, I cannot listen to music out loud through the phone, and youtube videos volume doesn't work, and app or keyboard volume isn't present either. Is this all because of the new OS? Iphone volume controls are all independent. When playing music, have you checked to make sure you have the volume turned up? Same with key clicks, you need to adjust the volume while actually using the keyboard.

Are you sure you have the jack pushed all the way into the port? It's a bit recessed. If so, take it to the store (make an appointment with a "genius" first, you can do that online http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/)to see if it's a defective head set or phone. IF defective they will most likely replace it on the spot.

IPad & iPhone only play video from iTunes store after iOS7 upgrade

I just noticed that my iPad and iPhone can only play content from the iTunes store now that I have upgraded them to iOS7. They can not even play videos that my iPhone recorded before the upgraded. They are also not able to play videos that I RIPPED from DVD's using Handbrake. It had no problem playing any of this content before upgrading. I can still play the videos though iTunes just fine. And my old iPhone that is still on iOS6 plays the videos just fine. Does anyone know of a work around to get iOS seven devices to play video that is not from the iTunes store?

Thanks tried that as well as a full restore of the iPhone. This seems to be by design. ITunes will not even sync the files to the iOS7 devices now. Says the files will not be copied because they can not be played, but my iOS6 devices can sync them and play them.

Videos only play for 5 seconds

I'm having problems adding some videos to play on the iPhone. I've converted the videos to Quicktime, and got them to load on iTunes. They play perfectly there. I synch them to the iPhone, and they appear on the phone, but when they play on the iPhone, they only play for about 5 seconds.
I've previously added a video that works fine... I don't see what I'm doing differently with the new set of videos.

No. The videos will play for their entire length. Try trimming the video in iPhoto by playing it and use the gear icon to bring up the Trip feature:
You'll get this window where you can select the portion of the video to use:
When you're done you can "revert to original" like this:
That may give you what you need for the slideshow.

A different approach would be to:
1. Delete the contents of the library on the desktop Window 7 computer;
2. Turn off iTunes Match;
3. Copy the contents of the Music folder from the working Windows 7 computer to the desktop Music folder;
4. Import the new contents of the Desktop music folder into the library;
5. Close / restart the iTunes client and confirm that the library has all the Songs as anticipated;
6. Turn on the iTunes Match service and allow it to run to completion.
This is a proven process on my Windows 7 computers and works very well.

What I've did is I turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone, then turned in on again. Now in my iTunes library on my mac I can get the duplicates to be matched or uploaded to iCloud with a right-click, add to iCloud. iTunes Match starts to check the songs and everything is done correctly. Pretty nice!

As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S. I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds. After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?" I didn't even know such a function existed. Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual. If it is green, turn it off. You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu). I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere. Good luck!
