My iphone 4S prompted me to upgrade the ISO.

I am technology challenged. I upgraded. Now i have lost all my contacts. I tried to sync phone to pc but it said it didn't recognize the phone and to upgrade itunes. both now upgraded with missing contact list. how do i get my contact list back?

i'm not into games or all the added stuff. i have a phone that i turn on/off....i have music and pics in there as well. i sync the phone to the pc as i mentioned. last time that was done was about a month ago. pics and music are there. only thing missing is the contact list. yes i realize it can be stolen/broken/etc....but i have had no problems thus far. i'm not a pc literate person....doing the minimum is stressful as is....even getting to this site took a lot of work.

Glenn,
I tried upgrading to leopard, even bought the software and brought it home but it wouldn't let me. So i went back to apple, gave them the specifications of the machine and been told my machine is simply too old for leopard. This is incredible to me because it really isn't THAT old (i think just a little over 6 years maybe) and yet i'm left out on the curb when it comes to using newer apple products. I understand technology moves on but the mindset that i am supposed to dump a perfectly working machine after a couple of years or face not being able to use any other apple product is counter to what thought apple was about.

A quick search of the forums or google would have revealed the answer without the need to post a vague question.

Hey Hi, I have an iphone 3G. i need to upgrade the latest ios. Is that possible? If yes can I know how? If not can I know whats the next possible upgrade?

The iPhone 3G will not run anything higher than 4.2.1. It's been discontinued for over 3 years.

• I'd like to update the ISO 4.2.1 on an old iPod Touch to ISO 7. Can't find "Software Update" option under General Setting. Where might I look for the option to slightly upgrade the ISO for this device?

You likely have a 2G iPod and those can go higher than 4.2.1
A 3G can go to 5.1.1
IA 4G, with cameras can go to iOS 6.1.6.
The 5G, also with cameras can go to iOS 8
To update
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes as far as your iPod model allows
iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10 or higher. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later.
- A 3G to 5.1.1 Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
- A 4G to 6.1.6 Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. For a Mac, that requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later
- A 5G to iOS 8 Requires iTunes 11.4 or later if you update via iTunes

• My iphone does not respond after upgrading the operating system

upgrade the operating system to 7.0.2 and iphone 5 will not start, can you help please

It reads as though you've managed to break your iPhone. You should make an appointment with an Apple Genius to discuss. If need be, Apple will sell you a refurbished handset for about $200 + tax.

Thanks. I have followed all the instructions as recommended and nothing has worked so it looks like the restore/update may have been interrupted - would loss of internet connection do this?
Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!
Good luck, but if you expect miracle from that call good luck again.

• 3GS iphone with version 3.1.3 - I want to upgrade the ISO

I have a 3GS Iphone with the original version 3.1.3 system on it and firmware 05.12.01. I would like to upgrade it. I had to update to itunes 11 and I am just getting the option of iso 6 when I select the update. It takes forever for anything to happen so I have cancelled it. Is there any tips or help someone could give me. Thanks.

It is only possible to upgrade to the most current version of iOS which is 6.0.1 for the 3GS.

Did you purchase the music through the iTunes Store?
The apps you have purchased can be downloaded for free from the App Store.

• HT4623 Iphone Battery affected by IOS upgrading

Regards
I am having problems with my Iphone 4battery, after I've upgraded the IOS. I used to have charge for the entire day (web browsing, text messages, phone calls, even I listen the radio). after I have accepted to update the sorfware, the battery life drops in 1 hour (100%-0%).
My cellphone, its in good shape and conditions, I have a contract for three years, and I dont have plans to change my equipment soon.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, just be aware that after every iOS update there is a group of users that report faster than normal battery drain.
The vast majority of battery issues are resolved by basic troubleshooting.
Most iOS users never experience battery issues or any other issues for that matter after iOS updates.
There is no battery issue to fix or any reason to believe that a fix for these mysterious battery issues will appear in the next iOS update.

All day calendar events not being displayed in the notification centre for iphone 5 post ios 7 upgrade. Please help. Is it a bug?
With iOS 6, the all day events showed up in the notification centre but it lacks in the upgrade iOS 7.

Same problem here. Some people pointed out that all-day events do show up in their notification center, but that seems only to be the case for birthdays (and only as text like the weather). I've tried it myself on my iPhone and iPad and it did work for birthdays but not for any other all-day events. I already sent this to Apple as a product feedback as well, as should everyone of you. The more people mention it, the faster Apple's going to fix this issue. In its current state, notification center is not a very helpful feature in my opinion. There's absolutely no point in not showing all-day events in the 'today' calendar overview.
Here's a link to the product feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I posted my message in the iPhone section since I couldn't find a page specifically dedicated to iOS 7.
I really love the look & feel of iOS 7 but it's kinda sad to see notification center not tapping its full potential.
Cheers!

• HT1386 I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S). I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone. But not sure how to do that.

I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that. Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.
