My iPhone 4S randomly shuts down.

My iPhone 4S randomly shuts down, when plug it into charge. I restored, as a new iPhone and problem continues, what do I do?  iPhone is 4 months old, and has no damage.

It's almost impossible to say whether it's the battery or something else.  If you're running 6.0.1 and you've done a restore and set it up as new, there are no other software updates to try.
If there's no Apple Store near you, contact Apple Care. If  you can't wait for a replacement phone, you may be able to get an express replacement (they ship you the replacement before you ship them yours, but they will put a hold on your credit card until yours is in their hands).

  • Help my iPhone 3GS randomly shuts down, what is wrong?, Help my iPhone 3GS randomly shuts down, what is wrong?

My iPhone 3GS randomly shuts down for no reason, and apparently I am not the only person having a problem with this. This happens regardless of how much battery life my phone shows, or whichever application I am using. IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS!!!!!!! I understand that cell phones are not built to last forever, but my phone is in to good of a condition to go out and purchase a new one.

Before you get your knickers all in a twist, try the basic troubleshooting steps Apple recommends:
Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation.

  • My iPhone 4 randomly shut down and won't turn back on.

My iPhone randomly shut down whenever I got a phone call twice in maybe 5 minutes. Now it wont turn on no matter how many times I plug it in or use the home and lock button. Is there anything I can do? After the first time it just turned back on but now it won't.

I just had this happen. Hold the lock and home button down for ten seconds.

  • Iphone 5s randomly shuts down

    Hey,
I have an iphone 5s that randomly shuts down.  Made a genius bar appointment and was told I had too many apps running(!!!) and I should kill them all and all would be fine. Surprise surprise that didnt solve the problem. I took if back to the genius bar two days ago, they swapped the phone for a new one and I started again from scratch. No restore or  anything I think is potentially corrupt-bar my apple ID all is completely new and clean. Re-downloaded all my apps from the store fresh etc. etc. A day later the new phone is doing exactly the same thing. This is driving me crazy!!
    Anybody have any advice?

  • IPhone 4S randomly shutting down.

My iPhone 4s has been radomly shutting down. It happens when the battery is between 15%-40%, I'll try to do something as usual, and the phone will shut down.  When I try to restart the phone it shows the battery as completely drained.  When I plug it in the phone will restart and show the battery at the level it was before it shut down.  Its very annoying and does tend to happen with what I assume are more system intensive apps like the panoramic mode on the camera.

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • Iphone 4s random shut downs

my iphone 4s suddenly shut off and remained completely dead until i plugged it into a charger. it then began turning off a random a day later only lasting around three minutes before shutting off. now it won't respond unless on the charger. it says its 100% charged but it still won't pick up any signal and wifi is OFF and won't respond. if i take off the charger the screen goes black and won't respond unless i put it back on the charger. anyone have any ideas on what to do about this?

Make an appointment at any Apple store. Sounds like a hardware failure.

  • IPhone 4s Randomly Shut Down and Will Not Start- Broken Lock Button.

Sent a snapchat and shortly after my phone shut down. I had 30% battery. Can't get it to restart despite having it on the charger for 30+ minutes and holding the home button for long periods of time. Tried plugging it into my mac but itunes isn't picking up on it. My lock button has been broken for about 3 months now and I've been using assisted touch, so unfortunately resetting hasn't been an option for me. I have not yet updated to iOS 7.1.1. Please help if possible!

Connect to a wall outlet so you have solid power, then do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.

  • IPhone 4s randomly shuts down.

I've had my iPhone 4s since Christmas 2011 with minor issues, i.e. poor speaker quality.
This is the first big issue I have had with it. On Wednesday, 5/15, my iPhone took a turn for the worse. The screen froze, brown lines appeared vertically on the screen. My iPhone promptly shut itself down, and with out any input, turned itself back on.
This happened once again the next day, Thursday, 5/16, and three times today, Friday, 5/17. I plan on going in to a Simply Mac store in Orem tomorrow, Saturday, 5/18.
All these dates are recorded in an attempt to accurately describe the timeline in which my troubles have occurred.
Any and all assistance in rectifying this problem are appreciated, and should my trip bear fruit, I shall of course share the solution.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My iphone 5 keeps randomly shutting down and takes pictures sometimes when pushing the home button, the sleep button rarely works also.

My iphone 5 randomly shuts down, locks itself inside the time limit, takes pictures sometimes when pushing the home button, (not always). any clues? I`ve tried the backup and restore option. nothing changed?

It may be eligible for the following: https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-sleepwakebutton/

  • My iPhone with 40 or so percent randomly shuts down with iOS 7 and 6. Often with the camera app stating the phone is out of battery.  Moments later I turn it back on and the same battery life still appears.

My iPhone with 40 or so percent randomly shuts down with iOS 7 and 6. Often with the camera app stating the phone is out of battery.  Moments later I turn it back on and the same battery life still appears.  It sometimes happens over and over until I leave it alone for a while (still not charging), and then it works.

I think you might get a new phone instead of repairing it as it takes time and you said the repairing center is far from your living place

  • IPhone Randomly Shuts Down

My iPhone randomly shuts down and I have to charge for a few minutes for it to come back on. Went to Apple Store tech support. They did a diagnostic and found nothing wrong with the phone. Told me that the problem was the number of apps running in the background (i.e., multitasking). After deleting all of the apps in the background, the phone still shut down with 53% of battery indicated. What is the problem? What can I do about it?

To be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work.
First thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo.
If that doesn't work I would restore from backup. If that doesn't work I would restore as new. If all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..

  • IPhone 5s just randomly shuts down

my iPhone 5s just randomly shuts down even though the battery is in 60-70% charged range.
It shows the battery icon with one thin red line, I plug it in to power and a minute later it comes on with battery in 60-70% range.
I cannot figure out what's going on !!

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
If this does not help, get your phone checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store next to your place.
You can also contact Apple Support and talk to them. They can check the battery online.
Or visit this page to do that: iPhone - Contact Support - Apple Support
Click on Apple Support, then on ->Battery, Power &Charging ->Battery questions and troubleshooting, and follow the instructions.

My iPhone 3Gs randomly shutting off at any given moment. I could be in the middle of a text, a call, or doing some games and it'll just shut off.
Now here's the unique part. When I go to turn it back on, the apple loading screen pops up but it takes somewhere from 3-5 minutes for it to boot up. Then the lock screen with the time and whatnot shows up. From this point on, my iPhone has a chance to shut itself back down and I have to repeat the process over and over again. Most of the time the lock screen flashes and then goes straight to black (shut down) but sometimes I can make it a few menus before it shuts itself down.
The only way to keep the iPhone on is to plug it into a charger of any sort. I'm fairly certain it isn't a battery charge issue because this happens at any % of power and sometimes my iPhone can use up all of its charge and not have this happen while other times I can be at 90-100% and it could randomly shut itself down. What can I do in this situation if some has some solution to this problem please let me know on [email protected] Thanks!

Not sure if this Term is Relevant towards an iPhone but, my iPhone won't Post unless if it's plugged into a Charger.
