My iPhone 4S says 4.6Gb free memory, iTunes says 2.7Gb, which is right?
iTunes and my iPhone 4S disagree on how much free memory I have. iTunes report of other memory use bounces between 1.13Gb and 6.4Gb unpredictably after syncs and power-downs. Restore has had no effect.
Which one is right? What gives?
My iPhone 4S replaced my 3G on December 1st. It came straight from my wireless provider. It is NOT jailbroken. When I upgraded from my 3G, other memory went from less than 1.5 GB to around 4.5 GB.
Occasionally a sync or a power-down/power-up has drastically reduced other memory usage, but I can't find a pattern to it.
I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS Lion, and iTunes to 10.5.3. Now iTunes says that other memory takes 8.1 GB and that I have 1.24 GB free. The iPhone says there is 3.1 GB available.
A restore has done nothing to reclaim any of that other memory.
I am seeing a similar problem on a brand new iPod Touch, so the problem isn't just my iPhone.
Is the problem IOS 5.0.1 or iTunes 10.5?

YES, that is the free 5GB icloud memory for each apple ID. Can I not add the free 5Gb of my second Iphone to my original apple ID (5GB also) as I want to use one Apple ID name on both 2 Iphones? Is it necessary to have a different apple ID for the second Iphone to avail the free 5GB it carries with it? -
I notice when I plug in my phone to my computer and look at what's "On this iPhone" it says that I have a book on there (one that was a free download from something), but I don't have iBooks installed on my phone. How do I remove the book?

Was this book downloaded using iBooks, or from another application? If it was from iBooks you will need to install that application to delete it.

See what is taking up space on the device.
Alternatively, with the device connected to a computer, look at the Summary tab and see what is taking up space. -
I have error code -43 when trying to upgrade iPhone 3GS running v4.3 to version 5 or above. This error occurs whilst trying to back up phone during upgrade process. 2GB of free memory on phone. Can anyone help?
Well I spoke too soon.
The update was successful, but now I cannot connect to the 3GS data network.
Cannot get email and cannot open a page in Safari.

Email and internet work fine on WiFi.........no data using 3GS network.

My iPhone 4 says I have 4.9 GB of my free 5 GB iCloud storage available, but when I try to back up the phone to iCloud I get the message that I do not have enough storage to back up this device. What am I doing wrong??
Import them to your computer as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then either delete them from your phone or exclude the camera roll from your iCloud backup by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your phone under Backups, then turn Camera Roll to Off under Backup Options.
Also check Settings>General>Usage to see how much availble space is on your phone. If you have to delete apps in order to take photos, you may be out of space on your phone. If so, you need to delete something in order to create more space. -

IOS 5: iPod Touch 4g says no Free memory After Sync
My iPod 4g, iOS 5, 8GB says After Sync no Free memory. Before the Sync there was 1gb Free Memory.... Even if i Delete Apps, the iPod says 0 Byte Free memory...
It was in the category "Other". Now i Have done a Hard reset(i think): i have pressed the Lock Button 5sec, then Lock and home Button 10 sec together. Then it Took a few minutes. In this minutes there was the Apple Logo , Like when the iPod Starts up. After that, everything was okay and i had again 1gb Free memory :)

Top download and install apps you need space available on the iPod equal to about three time the file download size. If you download more than one app at a time you need about three times the total file download size available so it is better if short on storage to purchase one at a time.

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

My iphone slowly looses free memory
I have a problem where every time I delete an app I have LESS FREE MEMORY. When I delete large files like videos, free memory increases but then, over time, looses available memory even if I am doing nothing on the phone until there isn't any free memory left. Usually takes 1/2 an hour.
I have reinitialized my iphone to factory settings a few times and then restored from itunes and, for a day or so, things seem fine but then this scenerio happens again. Very frustrating. Not sure how to fix.Check to make sure youdon't have any automatic downloads set for podcasts or songs in your settings, maybe? Could be that your apple id is set to automatically download new songs, but it still seems ridiculous that it'd fill up that quickly.
If you plug your device into itunes and go to the device page, it should show you what sort of files are taking up so much space. Which colors do you see grow from when things are normal to half an hour later? -

AdrienneWe need some numbers. Connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable. Click on its name in iTunes.
Look at the bottom of the iTunes screen; there will be a graph of the memory usage of the phone. At the right end it will tell you how much free memory you have.
Now go to iPhoto. Select all of the images you want on the phone. iPhoto will tell you how much space is required.
Compare the 2 numbers, available vs total of the image sizes.
