My iPhone 4S suddenly deleted all my contacts. Help, My iPhone 4S suddenly deleted all my contacts. Help

As I was using the phone, the phone went through a 'supernatural' moment - flickering etc. and then the contacts was empty. Even the favourites had numbers and not names.
I shut down the phone and restarted it but to no avail.
Now, just as suddenly, the contacts are back! But not all of them.

Do you have a iTunes backup for your iPhone 4s? If so, you may refer to this blog to extract iPhone contacts from iPhone backup via iTunes
http://easy-iphone-recovery.blogspot.com/2013/11/how-to-extract-iphone-contacts- from.html
If you have not back up your iPhone, you may try the “Recover from iOS Device” mode with the iPhone contacts recovery software.
Please have a try.

After upgrading to OS 8 on my iphone 5, suddenly all my contacts had Facetime capabilities. I only want to FT with a few people Unwanted FT calls now ring on both my iphone and ipad. I tried to edit and delete FT capabilities in both Contacts and Facetime icon, but there is no field to delete for this. How do I delete Factime from my contacts list? thanks for any help with this.

    Hi Ingo 2711,
Thank you for your suggestion.  I backup on itunes. I went to itunes, deleted syncing my contacts, then re-synced them. But the Facetime capability option continues to be there on most (not all, for some curious reason) of my contacts. I am not sure I posed my question correctly.  I want to be able to FT with my family, so don't want to delete the FT capability totally from my iphone and ipad. But I don't want all these other iphone calls from various contacts to ring on my ipad as FT calls.  I want a way to select with whom I have FT capabilities. Any further suggestions? Thanks much, trekpal

  • Deleted contacts on one iPhone, suddenly all our iPhones contact list changed. Why?

Hi, I have several devices at home. And all are syncronized with iCloud. But I guess I haven`t done it correctly.
It is a iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s and iPad2, and my Macbook air. So all of the family are connected through my apple-account.
Today I deleted a lot of contacts on my sons 3GS, and it went all well, untill I found out that the contacts on every other product also were changed.
Now I can`t find my original contacts any place. Not on the SIM-card, nor in the iCloud backup.
I can`t seem to have found any relevant info or help, so if someone out there have experienced the same issue - please make my day, no - make my week!
    Best regards,
    Kenneth, Norway

Thank you Winston Churchill, I would like to keep seperate contacts, but sync the calendars - using it to coordinate our family-life:-). I was actually hoping that I could sync everything, just without the contacts. Not possible?
    Thank you!
*Edit: My "lost" contacts, they are really lost, I guess?

  • My iPhone 4 just suddenly deleted all my contacts ? I turned my phone on off and some came back but not all of them ??

I was using my iPhone got a text opened in and all my contact names had gone went into my contact and it had deleted them all . I turned my phone on and off and 100 came back but not most off them what do I do ?

I suggest you immediately make a backup of your data. You don't know if or when the computer will show some symptoms from the drop. You may want to, for piece of mind, take the computer to an authorised service center for assessment. No one here can assess any internal damage you may have done.

iPhone4 calendar app OS 7.1.2 suddenly deleted almost all calendars.  How do I restore?

Check your settings.  Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.  Are all of your Accounts that use Calendars have the Calendars turned on?  Also, check under the Calendar part and make sure 'Sync Events' is set to 'All'.
Then go to your Calendar app, tap on 'Calendars' at the bottom, and make sure all Calendars are check marked.
Then, close out all the apps on your iPhone, and restart it.  Open up the Calendar app.
    Did your Calendar events reappear?

  • ICloud deleted all my contacts off my iPhone

I just created an iCloud account to see what it is and to help me store all my information and stuff.  I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 4s.  On my phone, I clicked sync everything on my computer to the icloud, and iCloud put all my contacts from my computer onto my phone.  I realized that these were really old and never used contacts, so I decided I didn't want contacts to be synched using the iCloud.  I turned off the button in my iPhone settings that synched contacts with my phone, and an option appeared: "Keep on My iPhone" or "Delete from My iPhone."  I thought this just meant if I want to keep on my phone the contacts taht were put there from my computer, or to remove the contacts from my phone that were just put there.  I clicked delete from my iphone, and now suddenly every contact on my phone, regardless of if they were already on there or if they were just put there from my computer via iCloud, was gone.
Basically, I thought I was deleting only the contacts that were just put on my phone from my computer via iCloud, but I actually deleted every single one of my contacts on my iPhone.
My last iTunes back up of my phone is from September, so thats 4-5 months of contacts I'd still not have.
Is there any way I can get these contacts I just accidentally deleted back?
    Any response would be helpful,
    Thanks.

Thanks, yeah I called Apple Customer Services and the guy said that the only thing I can do is restore my phone from my latest iTunes backup.
The screen I got when this debacle happened literally said: "What would you like to do with the previously synched iCloud contacts on your iPhone?" It's so poorly worded, I thought it was just referring to the contacts that were just put on my phone from my computer, hense the "previously synched iCloud contacts" but when I was on the phone with the guy he was saying that I misunderstood the screen.
I don't think I'm crazy, they could have worded it better and made it more clear they meant ALL contacts deleted, not just the ones synched from iCloud.

  • I was setting up an iCloud account.  I set it up and the wanted to delete it.  When I did that, I inadvertently deleted all my contacts off my iPhone.  I don't think there was any backup.  How do I get my contacts back?

Hi.  I was setting up an iCloud account on my son's iPhone.  We set up the account, but then decided to delete it.  When we did, we accidentally deleted all the contacts from his iPhone.  There was no backup done yet.  I tried backing up his contacts in verizon backup, but that didn't work.  Can anyone help p,was.  He lost hundreds of contacts

If you deleted the account by going to Settings>icloud, scrolled to bottom of page and tapped Delete Account, then all you have to do is go to the same page an sign in using the same ID; be sure Contacts is turned on.

How do you delete all contacts on iPhone 4S? I have tried to sync and end up w/duplicates and now triplicates. 4,000 contacts have now turned into 12,000 contacts!! I "upgraded" to Lion and hate it - it was so much easier before. I managed to delete on MacBook (to start from scratch there), but cannot delete from iphone or ipad. I am so frustrated! Please help

Hi Cynthia!  If you are syncing from something like Gmail you can go into the iPhones Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn off contacts. It will ask you if you want to delete them from your phone - just click delete.  Exit Settings and turn phone off by power button (not all the way OFF).  Then re-open Settings>mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn Contacts back on - This is where you need to be careful - When you turn contacts back on you will be prompted to delete or save the contacts already on your phone. CLICK DELETE.  You should now have only your synced contacts on your phone!  Hope it helps!

This time syncing the IPhone has deleted ALL the contacts on the hone and WITHIN Outlook.

Restore the missing contacts file on your PC from your PC backup.
Or, it you've backed up your iphone to icloud or itunes, you can try performing a restore of the iphone.

  • All of the sudden, emails from an existing contact go to junk mail on my iphone and ipad (which you can't label as "not junk" and do not show up anywhere on my iMac.  What is going on?

I just recently got an ipad Air and some odd things are happening.  I use Entourage on my iMac OS 10.6.8, and my iphone and ipad are getting emails into the junk folder and the email doesn't show up anywhere on my iMac.  You can't label an email "not junk" on the iphone or ipad, so what do I do?  So frustrated.

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

I want to delete photos that are on my iphone, by doing so from the computer, not my phone.
Syncing your device with itunes will then enable you to remove whatever photos you wish to remove from your device deleting them with the computer and not the iphone.

  • Contact sync seems corrupted. How to recover? iCloud, laptop, iphone work fine. iPad shows some entries in duplicate or near duplicate, and when you delete one, both get deleted. iMac no longer syncs at all though set to sync.

iPad seems buggy, iMac simply not connected to syncing contacts (and focusing on it, not on Safari bookmarks either)
    iPad example:
Two entries exist for a contact on iPad, identical or differing slightly (e.g. a space being added before a word or identical in one but not the other). I delete one of the entries and both entries disappear from ipad, iphone, icloud. Entry persists on iMac.
    iMac:
iCal syncs. Mail syncs. Calendar doesn't. Bookmarks aren't syncing either: A recent add to Safari bookmarks that has synced elsewhere has not synced on iMac.
On the iMac, when I go to iCloud in network settings all boxes are checked except Photo Stream, Back to My Mac, and Find My Mac. Account details show my email address, my name and Description "iCloud". The amount of GB available in iCloud storage, which matches what I see on my iPhone.
iMac: OSX 10.8.5, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Thanks for the suggestion, Barney-15E. FYI I am not running both iCal and Calendar. Just Calendar. Me bad for using the old name and new name interchangeably.
Tackling the iMac problem: In iCloud network preferences, I unchecked Safari then soon after rechecked it, and your suggestion appears to have worked: a bookmark recently added on one of the other devices appeared in the iMac Safari bookmarks. So far so good.
Did the same thing with contacts. The iMac took a couple of hours to restore the sync setting, but it finally completed the task. The computer was laboring so I rebooted. Then I opened the contacts application and saw the spinning grey bars next to the "iCloud" heading above my list of contact groups. Some time later the spinning lines were replaced by an exclamation point. I clicked on it and got the message that the operation could not be completed because of a "CoreDAVErrorDomain error 1..". Subsequently, after much spinning of the line wheel, I have gotten either the exclamation point with the CoreDAV message or a lightning bolt icon. Whether exclamation point or lightning bolt, clicking on it provokes a long period of the spinning line wheel. And looking at some telltale contact discrepancies between the iMac and the other machines, nothing seems to have changed in terms of merging the discrepancies.
Searching for the error message in the support community, I see this has happened to others, and they have had some success in following a list of steps starting with archiving the contacts, which I have done. Don't think I fully follow the other steps, nor am I sure they apply to my situation.

  • Please help.. me and my hubby both have the iphone 4 and use the same email address and itunes account. I got mine yesterday and activated it to find all my husbands contacts on my phone. I deleted them and he lost all his contacts. How can we stop this !

    Hy please help...
My husband purchased  an iphone at xmas and evrything was fine until i purchased 1 yesterday . We both use the same email address which is linked to our itunes account (ithink) I registered mine yesterday and all my husbands contacts came on to my phone, so i deleted them and he lost them all on his phone :-( now if he adds or deletes anything i get it or the other way round please please help

If you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted.  The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync.  You need to use different IDs.  You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps.  But use different icloud IDs.

i just got the iphone 4 and my husband already had on. we share an itunes account and i signed up for i cloud and now ALL  of my husbands contacts are on my phone ... so I started to delete them (because i thought it would just be off my phone) and he called screaming ..." please stop deleting ...  they are coming off my phone!" so two things ...  how can i get the contacts back ( i got up to j) AND is there a way to get them off just my phone

Unfortunately there's no way to get back the contacts you deleted unless he backed them up somewhere else.  He'll just have to recreate them.  This happened because you are both syncing contacts with a shared iCloud account.  When you do this, the synced data is merged and any actions you take on one phone (such as deleting contacts) is also reflected on the other.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).  To do this, on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The other phone will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on your phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload your data to your new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
