My iPhone 4S will not backup to iCloud. My husband has the iPhone 4 and has no proleg with backups. Any suggestions?

You need to have your phone plugged in and on wifi for automatic backups to take place. Also, you must not be out of your 5GB free space on your iCloud account.
If it is hanging up, delete the existing backup and then try to start again.

Go to settings
1: tap icloud
2: next storage & backup
3: then manage storage
4: screen will show Backup's list (your name's iphone ...... so much GB ie.. 2.1GB) tap screen
5: Now its Your iphone : Lastest backup and Back up size
6: On Backup options tap show all Apps
N/B:If you are trying to backup all your apps then you will unable to do so to icload unless you have 100Gb of storage!!
7: turn off all the apps which you do not want to back up to icloud and back up only important Apps & Info
8: tap Manage storage on to left on you screen go back to Storage and Backup
9: turn on icloud (may take a few mins as the phone loads correct data for icload backup ) you may also be propted to enter you apple id , do so!
10: Hit back up now ! May take up 5-10mins to back up !!

I have Iphone4. When I backup with Icloud the bar starts across then quits. It says "the last backup could not be completed" but gives no reason. My Ipad, wife's Iphone 4s and Ipad 2 all backup successfully.

iphone will not backup to icloud. times out. other iphones and ipads in my house back up fine. using the latest ios.

Try tapping Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, and delete the backups, also note the space available on iCloud.
Then try to Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup.

Try tapping Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, and delete the backups, also note the space available on iCloud.

I am logged into Icloud on both devices. There is plenty of storage. My Iphone5 has never backed up automatically or manually. It is plugged in and on Wifi. The message is always backup did not complete. My new ipad backed up once on 10/29/12 and does exactly the same thing as my phone. If you start the backup manually it stops after 10-20 minutes and says did not complete back up. I have made sure my login password is the same on both devices....I was bumped up a level last night on Apple Support call and she could not figure it out. We have another call tonight. So far I have no backup of my contacts and do not know what the issue is.

when trying to backup my iphone 4s with iOS6 to icloud i get this error message "the last backup could not be completed". my last backup was on 9/22 around the time i downloaded iOS6, not sure the date it was downloaded. i have plenty of space for the backup. i have tried several user suggestions from the support community but nothing working. i connected to computer/itunes, hit backup and same error message. i deleted my last backup (9/22) as suggested by one user and tried again, nope, didn't work. my ipad 1 (not using iOS6) will backup to icloud no problem. any other ideas/suggestions? thanks

Do you have atleast 50MB free on your iPhone? Check by tapping Settings > General > About.
Do you hvae enough iCloud storage space to create another backup? To check, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

IPad 2 will not backup into iCloud

My Mac, Macbook Pro, iPhone, and iPad 2 all have up to date software. The iPad 2 does not want to backup to iCloud, whereas all the others do.
Under Settings, iCloud is "On", iCloud Backup is "On", etc. Last Backup always says "Never". When I try to run a Backup, nothing happens for a very long period of time, like now when it says "About 11 hours remaining". It will eventually time out and say that it couldn't complete the backup.
Any ideas why and how to get it operatimg?

I'm having the same problem with ipad3. Mine hasn't backed up since 7th April! I've tried automatic backup with charger and screen lock and manual backup. Every time I get the same message "backup couldn't be completed " and back up never. Spoke to apple rep on the phone, tried deleting iCloud account on iPad and resetting wifi settings. Nothing has worked. Rep was trying to say its my Internet connection which isn't the issue as my upload speed is more than enough! I have been asked to test on anther wifi network which I will try but from what I have seen on the forum it appears to be an issue with the iCloud server that apple won't admit to.

I keep getting a warning that my phone has not backed up and that it needs to be plugged in, locked and connected to wifi to back up. I have tried many times, with all these conditions being met, but nothing. Help!?!

This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail. To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup. Then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

Sometimes iPhone 5 will not backup to PC w/Windows 7

Sometimes I get an error message when backing up my iPhone 5 to my PC with Windows 7. I never had this problem with my iPhone 3, 3S, 4 or 4S. When this happens I have to delete the lockdown folder then it is OK for a couple of days. Is this normal??

My iPod will not backup on iCloud

My iPod says that it has not been backed up for like a few weeks and it is because it says that I have to much to back up. I have like 100 pictures and it say it takes up 6 gb and that can't be right. Same with some of the apps. Some apps take up4 gab. The total gb for back up is like 10gb when it only can to 5gb. Please help me on what I should do
