My iphone 4s will not charge properly

everytime i plug it in, whether its into my laptop or into a wall outlet, it wont charge, sometimes it does, but recently it hasnt been working.

Mine charges just fine, as does everyone's iPhone 4S that I know. Apple even sells a number of car chargers that are certified to work:

Perhaps there is a problem with your charger or the outlet you're using in your car/truck.

IPhone 3G will not charge properly

I've had my iPhone 3G for about two months now, but in the last week the phone has begun to have issues with charging properly. The phone will not properly show the charge progress on the screen (IE it won't show the meter filling while it's plugged in), but if I restart the phone it will show some progress. The phone will also sometimes say the battery is charged (showing the plug in the small icon in the upper right), but the meter won't be full.
The phone basically seems to stall when charging, sometimes the charge meter jumps in random spurts and other times it just sticks at one point with no change, sometimes a restart will get it to show some progress and other times it won't do anything.
Any help you can offer would be much appreciated!

Standard troubleshooting is
1) Reset (hold sleep/wake & home button until the Apple logo appears)
2) Restore (connect to iTunes and click the restore option)
If 1 and 2 do not work, the next step is to take it into the Genius Bar to be looked at.

I have had my iphone since last november 2012 and it has worked perfectly. However about a month ago when i plugged the lightning cable from the wall into my iphone to charge, i had to bend it into a certain position to get the phone to charge. I figured it was the charger that was busted as at the top of the cable some of the plastic had come away and there was exposed wires, so i purchased another lightning cable from apple, which arrived today. After plugging the new charger into the USB and the wall, the phone will not charge properly again unless the cable is bent into a position where it suddenly starts charging and then unless its kept in that position it will cease to charge. Is this my phone or have i just got unlucky and been sent a faulty charger?? please help.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
Please be more specific about "it wont connect back to the computer" so that appropriate troubleshooting steps can be provided.

My iphone 5 will not charge. I have tried 3 different cables 2 apple ones and a brand new other brand and my phone continues to show a black screen with a battery symbol with 3 small red bars. before i plug the cable in there is a plug symbol beneath the battery symbol. when i plug it in the plug symbol dissapears but the phone will not charge either via 3 different wall chargers i have used or via plugging the cable directly into usb on a computer. is it safe to say my phone is broken?

I just had this problem on my wife's iPhone 5. She said charged for a while with the same 3 red bars... I changed another charger and waited for a while, it become normal and charging again. Switch to other chargers, it works too. I think it is because she drained the battery completely too long and did not plug in the connector properly...

My iPhone 4S will not charge unless it is switched off. This happened suddenly with no other symptom several weeks ago. If I plug the charger in, while powered on, the phone doesn't appear to detect it has been plugged in and the battery icon doesn't change its display to show charging. Charging only happens when the phone is powered off completely.
I did some searches for this type of problem and saw it has happened to a few with earlier version iphones, but didn't see any published solutions.
A visit to the local Apple store didn't help either as I was told had to make an appointment; can't make an appointment for awhile because out of the country and no Apple stores where I'm at.
This is a very annoying problem. Anyone else have this happen and have a fix?

I got this problem solved and just want to let others know what it was.
I followed ewdel1's advice and brought my phone in to have it looked at and sure enough, was told that this is a problem others have had and it was due to a faulty integrated circuit. Luckily, I was able to take this in to be looked at when I did because my 1 year warranty was about to expire in a week.
Apple replaced my 4S with a "new" phone. The replacement looks and works good as new, so happy I didn't have to go through a hassle and the replacement was very straightforward.

its fixed!! After posting my problem with the FROZEN ipod classic (2007) 80 gb a screen popped up with similar subjects that I did not find in my original search. 'Rich Fleming' in the community posted a suggestion to someone with a similar frozen issue and it WORKED when I tried it.
hold the 'menu' and the 'circle' buttons down at the same time, KEEP the pressed until the apple appears. and now it is working. Hope this helps others.

My iphone 4 will not charge until the batter is run fullly down. After the phone powers itself down automatically due to lack of charge. Then and only then the phone will take a charge. Has anyone else had this happen or know how to fix this?
