My iphone 4s will not stay powered off

When I power off my Iphone, the screen goes black for a few seconds, and then the apple logo appears and the phone powers back on. I have tried resetting it (I think) by holding both the lock button and the home screen button at the same time, but the problem continues. The phone indicates that it is up to date on all software.
The phone also seems to be draining battery charge at a faster rate. I purchased the phone in December 2011, so it is not that old.
Any suggestions.

Carefully clean the iPhone charging port with a clean dry toothbrush.

iPad 3 and iPhone 5 will not stay connected to wifi although I am close to router and have strong signal. I have to keep joining the network or restarting devices or forgetting network and rejoining it.  As a side note my 1st gen iPhone which I upgraded to iPhone 5 yesterday always stayed connected!

The steps to try would be to:
    1. Restore the iPhone to Factory.
    2. If that does not solve the problem replace the iPhone.
If Verizon is offering to replace the iPhone for free under warranty I would go with that option.

does this only happen at your home network or with multiple networks?

Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds.

  • IPhone 6 will not stay on 802.11ac

So I have a brand new iPhone 6 that I absolutely love. The only issue I have about it is that it will not connect to my wireless network at 802.11ac speeds. My home network consists of an AirPort Extreme AC router and an airport express that is hard wired to expand my network and give me more coverage. I have a handful of devices that are connected via wifi and those are a macbook pro, iMac, Amazon Fire TV stick, iphone 5, my iPhone 6 and an iPad air 2. The only 2 that should be running at AC speeds are my ipad and iphone 6. Well my iPad is always connected at AC speeds and has since the day I got it. Never had any issues with it and the speed is always super fast as it holds a strong connection to my wifi network at AC speeds. But when I got my iPhone 6, it never connected and stayed connected at AC speeds. So to diagnose it, I reset my network settings, restarted the phone, even did a full reset and setup the phone as new and it still has the same issue. I have gotten my iPhone to connect at AC speeds but only for a short window before going back to N speeds. I toggle wifi on/off and even restart my phone and it will connect at AC speeds again but it will not stay that way. I have no idea why I am having this issue as all of my other devices connect just fine and my iPad run at AC speeds 24/7. I had my iPhone replaced by Apple already and both the old one and new one had this issue with staying connected at AC speeds. Any help on what I can do to fix this issue? is it a hardware issue on the iPhone 6's or is it an iOS issue that I'll have to wait for a software update to fix? both my iPad and iPhone are running iOS 8.2 by the way. my iPad has always connected at AC speeds regardless of what software version was installed on it. It worked great before 8.2 and it continues to still work great on AC (knock on wood). the iPhone has had this issue both before and after iOS 8.2. And both my airports are running the latest firmware as well. Any help on this is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for all of the help.  I have already tried this and this did not correct the issue.  This issue occurs on any and all apps that I have set to only use Wi-Fi.  Below is an example of what I get when it automatically loose connection to a Wi-Fi/wireless router.  This is even occurring at my work Wi-fi connection.

  • Iphone 4 will not respond completely off

My iphone 4 will not turn on , tried home and lock buttons, will not turn on connected to pc, battery was full when phone died. what can i do?

I took it to the store and they gave me a new phone but said the phone was defective.
I have iTunes but says the iPhone is in recovery mode and if I proceed it will restore and ERASE all data.
There are 300 photos that my wife would like to preserve.
I tried getting the phone in DFU mode to no avail.
I can however see the apple logo and the connect to iTunes logo but it will not go beyond that point.
Thank you for your quick response.

  • IPhone Froze Will not even turn off

Ok after making it almost all the way through the 2.0 update I got an unknown error message. After that the iPhone dropped out of the iTunes menu. Now iTunes will not recognize my iPhone and I cannot even turn it off. It literally does nothing. I would restore it but I can't. Any have a similar issue or and adive>

I had a similar problem this morning. After using a couple of the 3rd party apps I locked the phone and that was it, frozen. It would not come on and was not detactable by windows or iTunes. I messed with it for about 2 hours and then out of a PURE FLUKE held down the two buttons hoping to get some type of reset or something. And voila, it worked. After about 10 seconds or so the grey apple in the middle of the screen appeared and the phone booted up.
What was wierd is that the phone got really hot during this time and when I finally got it booted the battery was nearly dead (10%) but when this started it had a fresh charge. So whatever happens during this time kills the battery fast.

Connect in recovery mode and set it up as new device, explained here:

Jailbreaking can also be a reason for that.

  • TS1398 Iphone 4s will not stay connected to wifi after update

I can see my network, it connects for a few seconds and then disconnects. This started after the update.  I have tried reseting the router, the phone..............everything 100X.
All my other devices work fine and other types of phones can connect to my network. It's a specific problem wth this phone.

    Hello Danielle,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your iPhone 4s.  I recommend the following steps:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your W-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If the issue is still unresolved Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro will not stay off or asleep

    Hi,
I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro will not stay turned off when I tell it to shut down.  It will shut down just fine, but a few seconds later it will boot up again.  This also happens when I try to close the lid (or just put it to sleep), it will work fine, screen/Apple logo on the back will turn off and the status LED will slowly pulse.  However a few seconds later, the LED stops pulsing and the Apple logo will illuminate.  If I open the lid I will be greeted with the log in page with zero delay (i.e. its been displaying for a while).
This has become problematic because the computer always be running.  If I put it in my laptop bag the computer will get hot as ****. The only way to get it to really turn off is to let the battery die or remove the battery.  But this computer does not have the externally removable battery so that is not a trivial process.
The symptoms exist in both Mac OS (Mountain Lion and Maveriks) and Windows 8/8.1.  This makes me believe its something in the hardware (or at least a setting in the hardware), not software (I know Apple doesn't care what Windows does, but it is exibiting identical behavior).
I have reset the NVRAM and the SMC with no luck.  When I reset the SMC I didn't get a good indication that anything happened though, and was wondering if that is normal.  Resetting the NVRAM results in another restart, while its hard to tell if you actually reset the SMC.  I reset the SMC by turning the computer off, then holding the power button when it tries to restart (this usually gives me a few minutes where the computer will actually stay off), then pressing shift, control, option and power at the same time and releasing them at the same time.  This is how the Apple documentation said to do it.  They did not mention how long the must be held though so I presume that doesn't matter.
    Anyone experience this/have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jim

  • Toshiba ph3100u-1exb External Hard Drive Will Not Stay On

    Hello all.
I recently purchased a Toshiba ph3100u-1exb 1.0 TB external hard drive. It's working great, but the problem I am running into is that it will not stay powered on for more than a couple minutes. I'm sure that its some kind of power saving feature, but if there's a way to turn it off, I'd like to have the drive accessible at all times, as I use the information stored on it quite a bit.
When it powers down, I can always press the power button to bring it back up, but I would like to have it on all the time. Is there any way at all to do this? A setting on the drive, or possibly within Windows?
I have the drive hooked up via a USB cable, as this PC is a bit older and does not use the eSATA cables for hard drives.

    Hi
In my opinion the HDD should be checked with different computers and different OS (Vista, Win 7, Win XP). If the external HDD will not functions using different systems and computers then its definitely an HDD issue.
Ive got 2 different external HDDs one HDD died and I had to replace it.
In my opinion, if an HDD begins to malfunction then its mostly an hardware related issue and there is nothing to do as to replace the faulty drive
