My iphone 4S will randomly shuffle my playlists regardless of what order I put them in. It also just removes songs at random. What is going on???

My new iphone 4S is not keeping playlists in th order I sync them and will randomly shuffle them no matter how many times i rearrange them. I don't think I have the shuffle setting on, but can't figure out why it shuffles, removes, and adds songs at will. I am a Zumba instructor and need my playlists in a specific order.

I'm having a similar problem with my iPhone 4s. Just loaded all of my play lists onto it and it shuffles the order on some playlists but not others. It is not a matter of shuffle being selected anywhere. In fact when I connect my iPhone to my Mac and look my play lists in iTunes, they appear in the correct order. When I view my playlists on my iPhone, some appear in a random order. The suggestions to turn shuffle off have not helped since nowhere does shuffle appear to be on. And I have the "shake to shuffle" turned off as well. I listen to a lot of continuously mixed music so these randomizations of my playlists are very problematic. I didn't have this problem at all with my iPod Touch. Should I just try deleting the troublesome playlists and reinstalling them?

I put my playlists in a specific order - why, when my iTouch is synced does it not keep them in that order??? I've read about 'smart playlists' - I'm fairly certain that my playlists are not 'smart' - but I was curious as to how one can tell???

A Smart Playlist has a small cog like icon in iTunes. A regular playlist has a a musical note on top of a piece of "sheet-music paper" icon.
If you highlight a Playlist in iTunes and select File, if Edit Smart Playlist is greyed out, then it isn't a Smart Playlist. If you can Edit Smart Playlist, then it is.
You cannot distinguish Smart Playlists from regular Playlists on the iPod Touch, they look the same.

You must have repeat turned on. To turn it off, while the song is playing, tap the cover art to reveal the additional controls (see photo below). Then tap Repeat until it turns white (white is off, blue is on).

With your playlist in "List view", click on the header over the column of numbers all the way to the left. This will then reveal the true playback (and sync) order.
However, the sort order in iTunes may not agree with the sort order on your device, but that is a separate issue and seems to have too many variables to go into here.

They play on my iphone and from the itunes library but not from my ipod touch.

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Ringtones are currently a one-time only download from the store. Smart Playlist is out of order when put on iPod

Hi, I'd like help getting my smart playlist in order. The criteria for the playlist is to be above 3 star rating, but I can't seem to tell what order the playlist is in; sometimes it seems like it's artist name, but then it sort of randomly changes. It looks normal in iTunes but when I'm using the iPod by itself the order is messed up. I don't use the sync function and don't want to. There was a way to get it in order on my old iPod, but I can't seem to remember how becuase it was stolen and I didn't have one for a while... thanks for the help.

TS4009 Why does Music use 3 GB on my iPad when I'm using Cloud? Is it the pics of album covers for my playlists? If so can I replace them with simple list like my Song list?

I noticed that I am using three gig storage for Music when in fact I am using the cloud for my music. I also noticed that when I choose set list I have pictures of artists on my iPad. Could that be the reason I am using so much space? I use the cloud in order to not use up much storage space for music on my iPad but yet it appears I am.

I belong to iTunes in order to put music on my computer and sync to my iPod. I don't know if I belong to iTunes Match?? I have noticed that the vast majority of my songs when not connected to the Internet are grayed out and not playable.. Then again there is a minority that are playable. Why are the color album photos of my playlist on my iPad.music. Does't that use up storage space? Is there a way to get rid of them?

Ipod will not shuffle complete playlist

Since the last software update, my 5th gen ipod will no longer play my complete playlist in shuffle mode. I have done a hard reboot, did a restore and put the all the music back on the ipod and still can't get it to shuffle the complete list. Any suggestions?????

Thank you, It worked. I forgot to change back to allow that as the playlist I was trying to shuffle was my Christmas Music....

When you press the shuffle button in a playlist the song just repeats, it doesn't automatically choose to play the next shuffled song. when you the forward button, it will go to the next shuffled song but that doesn't help me when I am running and can't babysit the playlist.
Any help is appreciated.
