My iPhone 4S won't turn on and continues to vibrate when charging

My iPhone 4S will not start and when i charge it, it continues to vibrate. I don't know what to do.. Any ideas??

Sorry, but we can't help you with problems occurring after you have opened and tried to fix some hardware of the phone, due to the Terms of Use of these discussions.
The warranty for the phone is gone now and Apple will not service the phone either anymore. You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair center to get that fixed.

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 won't turn on, and will only vibrate when charging?!

My Galaxy S4 had a meltdown of sorts.  It suddenly stopped charging and happened when I had 1% battery left.  Once the phone died and I tried keeping it on the charger and everything, it would only vibrate about every three seconds with a pitch black screen, and that was only occasionally.  I did all the obvious things to try.  I also tried plugging the usb charger into my computer; that seemed to help at first with a different result but only gave me the battery symbol on the phone in black and white with the circle in the center not moving and not charging. I tried to do the hard reset and also tried a friends charger and neither worked.  When plugged into the computer, a pop up sometimes comes up and says the device you have plugged in has malfunctioned and cannot be read.
I am currently out of the country for another 2 months, so finding help for this in a store won't exactly be easy.  Any help will be appreciated greatly!

        booperman13,
Zoinks! Sorry to hear you are having trouble so far away. It sounds like it was working fine when you first replaced the battery and you had previously done a factory reset. The computer isn't recognizing it and it isn't charging. So, by process of elimination, based on what you have described it sounds like there might be a problem with the USB cable.
Since you replaced that battery have you tried another charger? That might give us greatly clarity as to the nature of the problem. As you are currently out of our reach, if it works fine with another charger and you need to replace it, I would reach out to Samsung for assistance with finding a local provider that has their charger or usb cable in their inventory: http://bit.ly/1v0IVFI .

  • I have a replacement 6th gen nano, it won't turn on despite what I try, when charging it became very hot, so is it worth sending it in for repair or should I just replace it with something else and what?

My previous Ipod was replaced with a 6th generation nano, a year later and it won't turn on and when I try to charge it, it heats up and gets very hot.  Is it worth trying to get it repaired or should I just junk it and buy something else?

If you like the form factor and clip on the 6th Generation send it in to be fixed, $65 for an out-of-warranty replacement.
If you would prefer a larger screen and built in Bluetooth, but no clip, buy the 7th Generation Nano

  • Iphone 4 won't turn on and white LED is lit up

My mom just gave me her old iPhone 4 but its screwed up. I can't tell if its on or off because the screen won't come on and it won't turn on. The white led on the back is constantly lit up. I tried holding the home and lock button but that did nothing. I also tried connecting to itunes and restoring that way but itunes didn't even recognize it.

    Hi Gracielle,
Apple Stores do not do service for fees. They do replacements only - in and out of warranty. Out of Warranty Replacements range anywhere from $149 to $225 depending on the device.

  • IPhone 4s won't turn on and won't charge.

Hi, My battery on my iPhone 4s has for a while not shown correct charge. It wouldn't charge to 100% and would drop to 1% quickly but then continue to work for hours. The phone was turned off when it was at 1% and now it won't turn on because it thinks it is not charged. This is the same when plugged in - even leaving it all night will not turn it on.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks, Andrew

I left it on charge all night- it didn't come back to life. Pressing and holding the sleep/wake and home button for 10 seconds also don't bring it back.Tried to do a factory reset but that won't work.
The battery isn't dead though - it is definitely the monitor for the battery persentage that is not working.
    Thanks, Andrew

    Hi dancebaby,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Start with these troubleshooting steps if your iPhone does not turn on:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My iPhone 4s won t turn on and the motherboard gets hot when I connect the battery

Attempted to replace my front and back glass (for the second time, first time was successful) and i'm not sure where I went wrong but as the title says... it will not turn on and as I connect the battery to the motherboard it starts to get hot immediately after trying to turn it on. I have included a picture of the mother board, the area that gets hot is in the red square.

  • My relatives 2009 Macbook Pro won't turn on and isn't taking a charge.

Holding down the power button has no effect and when the charger is inserted, there is no green or red/orange light. All outlets are functioning and the computer was working as it always had the day before. Help?

    Hi Cygnus and Lyra,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the MacBook Pro doesn't respond when the power button is pressed, or seem to recognize the charger, these troubleshooting steps can help:
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. I have an iphone 4 which was working fine. I tried to update it but this time I used a computer running xp. When I did so I got an error. Since getting this error my iphone will not turn on. I am not even getting apple logo. It does show up in itunes but I get the message:

  • IPhone 3g won't turn on, and not recognized by iTunes after erase/reset

My iPhone G3 (with the latest 4.0.1 software) was acting up so I decided to do an erase/restore to see if it helped the problems.
I did a reset/erase everything through the phone OS now all I get is the Apple start screen, and the phone does not start up. When I plug connect it to my computer the iPhone is not recognized.
    Clueless!! Any help?

See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. Select restore as new, follow by syncing your itunes content.
