MY iphone 4s would not accept the set  passcode

My product is iphone 4s.
Do not know the operating system and releveant applications
After setting the passcode, I messed around with the phone, switching on and off several times, suddently the phone just would not accept the set Passcoe.
Besides, entering the Passcode, I had to click twice of each character.  As the matter of fact, I have to doubled click on any thing which I the phone to action.
Please help.

Hello hamptonpa245,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post it appears that you might've accidentally enabled VoiceOver on your iPhone, which would be requiring you to double tap each number.  To easily turn off VoiceOver, please do the following:
Press the home button three times quickly
Use Accessibility features in iOS - Apple Support
Cheers,
Alex H.
