My iphone 5 camera wont focus

My phone recently stopped being able to focus the front facing camera. The reverse camera works fine. A friend said she had the same problem but was unable to resolve it.

I gently-ish tapped my phone on the desk face down (with the protective cover on) and it fixed it! It seems ridiculous but it worked. It saddens me that this is what fixed it though!! Apple Support and resets did not fix it. Read the link above!

My iPhone 6+ camera wont focus at all

Hi all, I've been having more of a recent issue with my iPhone 6+'s camera. It seems to have its focus stuck on only things up close. I bought it back in November, and I dropped it a few days after I got it, There are no cracks on the display, but a few are on the top corners. After that, I got a case, and its camera has still worked flawlessly. But maybe a few weeks ago this issue started, without any drops I can remember occurring. I have already tried the following:
Flicking the camera screen
Tapping both the top and sides of the phone near the camera
Assuring HDR was disabled
Assuring Focus Lock was disabled
I've tried cleaning my camera screen multiple times
I've checked for specks of dust, I cant see any
And no, this is not the OIS issue that makes the image resemble a fish tank
My issue is, I can't exactly get a new one. Seeing as I have a few MINOR cracks in the top corner of my glass, T-mobile being the poor service providers that they are, wont replace it without a $150 broken phone charge. Does anyone think the apple store would give me better luck? Also does anyone know of a solution? Thanks!

Obviously that is true, but I don't recall one incident of recently dropping the phone and instantly noticing a bad camera image. I also have an otterbox on it, which should protect the lens completely and dampen vibration from dropping the phone. Additionally, there are no evident scratches on the sapphire coating.

The rear facing camera won't focus on anything more than a few inches away from it. I restarted it, I even reset it. Anyone know what I can do?

Try giving it a sharp rap right on the camera with the heel of your hand. Sometimes the focus mechanism binds up and needs a little jolt to knock it loose.
I suppose software could cause an issue, so if that doesn't work http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 and set up as "New Phone" after, test the camera. If it works OK at that point try restoring your backup.
If neither of those take care of it, phone will need to be repaired.

IPhone 5 camera stopped focusing.

I have an iPhone 5 and 2 days ago the rear camera stopped focusing. It doesn't pulse continuously like it was to focus, the image is just blurry if taken closer than 6 inches. This is the second iPhone 5 I have had. The first the battery was swelling. My one year warranty is up. Does anyone know of any ways to fix this without having to buy a brand new phone.

My iphone 5 camera spontaneously stopped focusing a few days ago. I have since updated to the latest OS, restored factory settings, cleaned lens and face with microfiber cloth, and powered down multiple times.

I have no idea what store you are refering to but take it to an Apple store and they can check it out. It's their call to replace or repair.

Frustrating iPhone 5 camera prioritizes focus on background rather than people!

When taking close shots of people 2-3 feet away, the iphone 5 camera app prioritizes the background focus.
Is there some way to make it to focus on the foreground instead???

I do not know of any setting thta will do that. Have you tried restarting the phone?
Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart.

Anyone know how i can fix my iphone camera? It was working fine up untill this morning and when i went to take a picture it suddenly went out of focus and has stayed that way! Any thing i can do to fix this?

Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 10 seconds until the iPhone restarts. See if fixed. If not, Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. See if fixed. If not, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution.

Iphone 6 plus ios 8.2 update camera wont focus

i just recently updated my iphone 6 plus to ios 8.2 however the camera won't focus i've noticed a few people are having this same issue. what should i do ?
i've already contacted my local apple authorized dealer however they want me to go five days without my phone. do you guys see this as being reasonable
and did i mention my phone is still underwarrenty.

The problem is much more complex than is there a smudge on the lens or is your finger covering the lens. It appears to be iOS 8.2 related as the issue coincided perfectly with my upgrade to iOS 8.2 on my 6 plus. The focus is now fixed to approximately 12 inches. Landscapes are incredibly blurry. If I tap to focus the lighting box will come up but it will not focus. Reboots and changes to HDR do not fix it. Changes in mode (i.e. slo-mo, time-lapse, video) have the same problem.

i had to restore my iphone last month because i had accidentally clicked the home and shut off button at the same time. it ended up making me restore my iphone. i lost everything. pictures, contacts, apps, songs, everthing. after i had gotten all my stuff back, i took a picture and everything was fine. a couple hours later, i open my camera to take another picture and it wont open it. it will twitch. i have no idea what to do. i have updated my software on my phone and itunes and im stumped. please help me.

I am facing a serious problem in my iphone 4.
And its really frustrating. I am trying to take some Good images but i have noticed that my phone camera is not able to take image properly. When i am trying to take close shots. camera is not able to focus. And it make image blurry. Specially during close shots.
What is the problem...?
I am instagram user and i have seen how peoples take high quality images through iphone. But i cant due to focus problem.

Make sure that there is not a smudge on the camera lens. Gently wipe it with a soft cloth. When you have the camera ready to take a photo you can try tapping the screen in the area that you want to focus on. If you are still having problems after that you should make an appointment at an Apple Store to have them diagnose the issue.

Hi I have the same problem. Did a reset of my settings. Then did a reset of all my content and media i.e. a hard reset. Then restored the phone. Then upgraded to 6.0.1 . Spoke to Apple care telephonically but to no avail. Guess it was a bad investment that I made. Trying to sell it off but anyone going for a second hand phone would definitely try and use the camera first, and then play a video/song later to check if it is ok. So, I don't have a buyer of it here in India and this iPhone 5 being bought from UK, the warranty isn't provided here. ****!

IPhone 3Gs camera-auto focus not working; no focus instead

Just got a new iPhone 3Gs. Wanted to test the camera since I hear it's so much better. The image never focuses. At first a box appears, dead center, like it should, but it doesn't focus. When I tap on the screen a box appears where I tapped, so it's responsive in that respect. But again, doesn't focus there.
Help! I haven't used it yet -- is there a setting I need to set or something else I need to do (calibrate?) to get it to work?

Do you have enough light for a photo? Have you tried taking a picture, and seen that it is out of focus (as opposed to fuzzy because you didn't hold it steady enough)? Is the lens clean?

Has anyone else had problems with the iPhone 4S camera not focusing properly?

Hi, now I own a iPhone 4S, and have noticed that it takes extremely horrible pictures and video.
The focus is only decent on the right half of the photo and is extremely blurry on the left hand side.

IPhone 5 camera not focusing

I took my phone back to Vodafone on monday and got a message today(thursday) saying it's being sent back to the manufacturer and could take another 7-10 working days. Has anyone else had this problem with the camera? I'm so not happy about this and the length of time the whole process seems to be taking.
