My iPhone 5 can no longer be recognized, therefore can't sync?

I have tried two different USB wires, and they both won't work. They use to work before, and I have tried using the wires to charge the phone by wall, and they both work fine. I also tried reinstalling (three times already) itunes, mobile device support, and application support along with restarting/rebooting both my phone and my laptop but that didn't seem to work either. It's been quite some time since I last synced it to my laptop; it says on my phone that I last synced it through iTunes on March 31, I think this was before the time I updated my iTunes to 11.1.5.5 (latest version). I have also tried searching for USB drivers updates, but it says that all my drivers are up to date. Also tried changing the power settings on each USB ports.
I own a Lenovo Ideapad U410, running Windows 8.1.

I know that you probably replaced the device, but this problem has occured with several device. It occured with several devices ipod touch, iphones, iphones 5s ect when they pushed the ios7.   If you take the device to apple, they will hook it up to a diagnostic and it will say there is a bad battery.. This is untrue,,, i have fixed this problem on many devices so I am aware of the real problem. The real propblem is the cache or ram, In old hard drives they have a + and a - jumper that can be used to clear the cach if a write error occurs. I have used this technique to get many old drives to work again for my use when highly pad technitions are not able to figure out the fix. (primarly because you need to understand how a device/ individual items in the device operate.   Now with IOS devices there are no jumpers and there is not a proper way to completely drain the battery to clear the cach..   The thing about doing a hard rebote when you are USB conected to a computer is durring that process the IOS device and computer try to comunicate and cannot do to the wrie error in the catch.   Here is the fix, it works for any IOS device, step 1, make sure you have itunes with the latest version installed on a computer and have it open and ready. step 2: using the usb cord attached to the ios device, plug the other end into the wall power adapter to charge the device (the device you charge with should have no way of comunicating with the iphone, just give power) step 3: preform a hard rebote... for ipod touchs iphone ipads you need to hold the power (top botton down, after 10 secounds the apple logo will apear, while still holding down the power botton press down the home button (the circle botton with the square in it or the fingure print button in Iphone 5s) hold that for aproxamtely 10 secounds, than release the power botton. you should be in hard reset/ reboot mode. The step are avialable online. step 3: if you have achieve hard reboot/reset mode correctly using land power only you have a successful hard rebote which although the catch problem is still there, the computer will ignore it. step 4: before the ios device quits hard reboot/reset mode, quickly unplug the usb from wall power and plug it in to the computer with the latest itunes installed. Step 5: a message in itunes will appear say a device conected is in hard rebote mode, would you like to reinstall the opoperate ios software, and it will tell you all data will be erased,,,,, YOU NEED TO ACCEPT THIS. step 6: your device has a new ios software in it and you may need after the clean installation is complete than you can recover from backup..   You may or may not, have less avialable drive space and or system cach size this would be do to the fact that these where the bad sectors of the drive/ ram that itunes discovered when doing a fresh install.

Is your iPhone connected to your computer using the lightning cable or are you doing WiFi sync?
Sometimes the iPhone doesn't show up in the side bar if you're using WiFi syncing, if its not working, then be connected to your WiFi on your phone and on your computer (Same network) let me know how it's going, if it doesn't work still. Turn your phone off and on again and put in your pass code then try to sync it (keep your phone unlocked and not in sleep mode) tel me if it appears in the side bar.

You do realize that the SIM only contains account information for your wireless account.
Moving the SIM from phone to phone does not cause any of your iTunes content, contacts, email, etc to magically appear on the device.

The application ITunes presumes that the information, data, music, etc in its database is the correct master. In doing so, it will overwrite and replace any information previously on the phone. You probably will want to transfer the iTunes data directory from it's original location (presumably the system yoiu used to sync with your iPhone previously), the the new system.
If your iPhone has data from a different Apple ID, than the ID you will use on the new notebook, then be prepared to lose the data on the phone if you sync. It's meant to work that way.

  • IPhone 4s Can't Sync to iTunes, Stuck in Backing Up (2of6)

I've an iPhone 4s 64gb iOs 5.0.1 for 3 weeks now, but still can't sync it w/ iTunes at all, I've tried iTunes version 10.5.3.3 and version 10.6.1.7 but both of them stuck on backing up (step 2 of 6).
I'm using win7 64bit. Can anyone help ? Reseting the iPhone and reinstall iTunes doesn't help at all.
And when I plug the iPhone4s to the laptop the lockscreen slider (where it used to say 'slide to unlock') didn't change to 'slide to cancel sync' or something like that (if it should have been that way) but there's two arrow circling on the upper left of the screen tho.
Please Help, really need to sync it
    Thanks

Now, i found the way out by the help of my cousin in the end. So with me, the problem is within the OS of the computer/laptop/notebook(my case)/netbook, so i need to reinstall my windows 7 and i did, after that everything works fine with the syncing iPhone with iTunes.
For those who have the same provlem, maybe reinstalling your computer/laptop/notebook/netbook can help ^^

  • Over capacity iPhone 4 - can't sync and get voice memos to computer

Hi, My friend is overcapacity on your iPhone, and can't even sync at all to get voice memos off her iPhone to her computer. It says can't sync Photos. She is syncing songs with her iTunes library, I guess, it would be good idea to remove a bunch of songs from iTunes library on the computer so when it sync's it will remove those from iPhone. Or, would it better to manage music on the iPhone manualy and have them be removed... ? (Would this delete voice memos)
I ask because the voice memos are important and we dont want to lose them... thanks for any advice

I have 16GB of 'Other' on my iPhone4, 3.7 GB 'Audio', 5.7 GB of Apps and 3.9 GB of free space.
If I try to sync my voice memos, it says I cannot sync because it will exceed total space by 4.4 GB. I can't get them off. If I try turning off other syncing options, itunes tells me it will delete everything. How evil is that? What should I do? These are priceless recordings of my late grandmother. What can I do that is risk-free? I have around 400 recordings and around 700 priceless notes.
Is Apple really like this? Or am I having a nightmare? Why can't I just copy or drag the files off my f$#%ing iphone?
iPhone explorer seems to delete the subject names and destroy the recording dates information. I just triediphone explorer. It marks each date and time as now (insane) and deletes all title information. Don't do it. I am a documentary maker and this is the stuff of litigation. I call for a class action lawsuit against apple to anyone who has lost data. Go to www.publicopinion.co.

  • Sync single song via iTunes with my iPhone 5 & can't sync music with my iPhone

    Hey there,
I have two questions about iTunes and my iPhone 5.
    1) I have my full music library connected with iTunes and most songs are not bought via iTunes. Now I have alle artists listet up with their albums.
Can I now sync only one single song from an album with my iPhone 5? If I want to sync music with my iPhone I can only choose between Playlists, Artists,       Albums and Genres but not single songs. Is there a possibility to sync single songs from a full album?
    2) The other problem is when I want to sync music (and only music!) iTunes starts syncing with my iPhone 5 and nothing happens. After a while a get an error         that the synchronisation is stopped because it couldn't start syncing. Why? What can I do?
I use a windows 8 laptop with the newst version of iTunes and iPhone 5!

Which iTunes version is installed on your computer?
What happens when syncing? Any error message provided?

  • HT4623 my iphone 4s is no longer being recognized by any computer after the last upgrade, is there a way to reinstall the ios without a computer?

I have tried changing the cable, reinstalling itunes, reset and hard reset on the phone, and it still is not working... Is there anyway to re install the os from the phone?

Have you tried rebooting the computer as well? Shut it totally off, then restart it and try again. If you are already on iOS 6.1.2 as your signature states, the only way to install an update/restore the phone would be to connect it to the PC.

  • New HD, same iPhone. Can't sync. Ugh.

The internal harddrive on my white MacBook died last week and I had it replaced at the Apple Store. So with that, my iTunes library and the contacts saved to my computer are gone. Luckily my music was backed up on an external, but now I am unable to sync my iPhone because of the one iTunes syncing rule. I can erase the iPhone and reassign it to this iTunes, but with that all of my contacts and apps that are the phone now will be deleted. Is there any way I can save the contents of my iPhone and reassign it to this iTunes so I can put more music on it and generally sync it with iTunes?

As long as you have at least one unique contact and calendar entry in you computer, you should get the option to merge the data.
You should be abel to re-download the Apps for free.
