My iPhone 5 freezes EVERY time I try to open a contact or add/edit a contact and freezes up pretty much on everything I do.

My iPhone 5 operates at about the speed of dial-up internet. Every time I try to do something I have to wait. My harddrive is not even close to being full and I always close out of my programs so I am confused. It is mainly a problem with contacts (adding, editing, viewing, anything). I also occasionally hardware reset (power and home button same time) to try and help but to no avail. Is this an Apple issue that a trip to the Apple Store will take care of? I am just sick and tired of having upgraded to an iphone 5 only to step backwards in speed and performance, plus switching over deleted over half of my contacts even though I had icloud set up on my 4 and also on my 5 so it should have been seamless. Is my phone a lemon?

If you have force quit all applications, performed a hard reset, software is at 6.1.4, then the device needs to be restored as new. I recommend to sync, transfer, and import all data to your computer and restore as new at this point. It is the same steps the Apple Store is going to do, its a software issue, not a hardware issue right now.

Crystal Reports freezes every time I try to open a report. I feel like it has something to do with trying to locate the default printer, but Im not certain. Crystal Reports opens just fine,but the moment I try to open any report it just hangs. Please help!

My problem is very similar to this person's. I have 2 laptops with CR XI installed (same problem from original R2 through SP 5). The old laptop is an IBM Thinkpad R51. The new one is an HP Elitebook 6930p. Both have the exact same software and versions of Win XP and network security.
If I try to open a report that has an "invalid printer" selected, it will open in the old IBM (with the message, 'This report uses an invalid printer. The default printer will be used instead'), but on the new HP, it freezes and I have to do a CtlAltDel to get out.
I've tried everything Don Williams suggested, but the only thing that is logged in Admin Tools when this happens is a Security/Privilege Request" with no errors.
Clearly, when CR in the HP looks for the printer selected in the report and doesn't find it, that causes CR to freeze.
Any idea what difference between the 2 machines could cause this?
This is a royal pain, because I can only be on one computer at a time.

PSE 10 Keeps freezing EVERY TIME I try to open it.

I have a less than 3 year old MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.3. I purchased elements 10 NEW in october 2012.
EVERY TIME I try to open elements 10 Editor, it freezes before I can do anything. I have looked in other discussions. Tried to restart from another thread I tried the following...
"Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

I have also uninstalled and re-installed elements 10. That didn't work either.

For anyone else who stumbles upon this thread....
Took the computer to Apple Genius Bar. They found the problem. In the Applications folder>Utilities>Activity Monitor, open and select System Memory at the bottom. Sort by %CPU. Find the icons showing at the left of the list. The ones at the top take the most memory. If whatever you are working on works way too slowly, you may find something above it (or bouncing around-up and down-on the list that is causing the problem (Mail and FireFox in my case). Quit those applications and things should speed up or, in my case, not freeze.

Agreed with you! that is why I asked dan333 if he had it turned on-cause none of my pcs running win xx have it turned on!! I was looking for quick answer for a problem that very little info was given-moreover surprisingly enough I have had customer with similar problems that a system restore DID solve the problem. I use acronis( amoung a crap ton of other similar aps too just wish it costs less). Mail freezes every time I try to open it.

When I try to get on the Mail application, the screen for Mail appears, but after a second or two, the beachball appears and I'm forced to close the application. I don't know why this is happening, as Mail has always worked until a couple of days ago. How can I fix this?

What happens if you just let the beach ball keep spinning for
5 or 10 more minutes? It may be that Mail.app is just finding
a lot of new e-mails to download, or some index has broken and
it's trying to rebuild it.
Maybe an unrelated question, but can you upgrade to 10.4.11
and see if anything changes? I think there were some other
security updates as well. I've always been a big proponent
of having everything up to date. Use the "combo" version -
it's bigger, but it includes all of the previous updates.
Also, can you tell us what else you're running at the time
Mail.app fails? And your hardware environment (iMac, MacBook,
memory, disk, etc.). Does anything else act weird like this?

Every time I try to open the firefox application, it won't load and pages and the application freezes. How can I fix this?

When I open the application, there is one tab that says, "Connecting..." After several seconds, the program crashes and remains that way until I force quit the application. I tried restarting my computer. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, and nothing worked.

I had the same problem. I went into software updates and updated security, and two other updates (can't remember exact updates) then restarted my macbook. My macbook wouldn't start!
I found information about restting the SMC (System Management Controller).
Unplug the power adapter.
Remove the battery.
Hold the power button down for 5 secs.
Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
Press the power button.
My Macbook started up and I opened up itunes and the itunes store opened up with images.
I think the resolution was the software updates, but I'm not 100% sure so I included every step that was made.

InDesign CS5 Hangs every time I try to open

I have been using InDesing CS5 for about 3 or so years now, for work. Just recently, I have begun having some problems where I try to open the program and it hangs, and I have to force quit. I experienced this about a week ago, and after looking at some other forums I tried resetting the preferences and deleting the SING plug-in, based on suggestions for similar problems. It seemed to be working again, where I could open up files and work on them fine - but now, it is doing the same thing again. Every time I try to open a file, or even just the program, and hangs and I have to force quit.
Any ideas????

Do you have gfxCardStatus installed? Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete". You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.

Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input.

my computer freezes every time i try to copy even a single song from a cd onto itunes. I've reinstalled itunes and still have the same problem. i read somewhere that you shouldn't have 'third party extensions' but don't know what what means. Can someone please help in a fashion that you might do for a child? Thanks oh so much!!

It may be the drive is set to PIO instead of DMA. I;ll try to descrabe in steps what to do to check this.
1) Goto control panel>system>hardware tab>Device manager
2) Double click IDE ATA controllers
3) Rightclick "Secondary channel" and hit properties this is usually the channel most CD ROMs are on, you system my vary
4) Goto the "Advanced settings" tab and see if it say PIO. If it does goto step 5,
5) Hit "Cancel" and back in the device manager where you see "Secondary channel" rightclick it and hit Uninstall
6) close everything and reboot the PC so windows will load the channel back up in DMA mode

This sounds like a job for Disk Utility ... but that's located in the Utilities folder ....
Fortunately, there's a spare copy of Disk Utility on the setup disks you should have received with your computer. You need to boot the computer from the setup disk, then find Disk Utility. Inside Disk Utility, "mount" your hard drive and run Repair Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Visio 2013 free trial crashes every time I try to open it

I just got done downloading a trial version of the 32-bit Visio Professional 2013. Every time I try to open the program, the program freezes & I get the following message on the Visio startup screen:

Have you ever checked the event logs? Anything useful there? If you haven't check it yet, I would suggest you to do so as it usually contains some information about software crash issue.
Also, third party add-in is a common cause of Office startup issues, so I would suggest we first perform a quick check on this. Starting the application in
Safe Mode is a great way to find out if the problem is caused by any add-in:
Press Win + R and type "visio /safe" in the blank box, then press
Enter.
If Visio starts in safe mode, it indicates a conflict with an add-in. Please try to disable the add-ins one at a time (Go to
File>Options>Add-Ins, in the Manage list, click
COM Add-Ins, and then click Go), then restart Visio to verify result. This will allow you to figure out which add-in is causing the issue.
