My iPhone 5 has 3.75GB Other - Reset?
I am having problems syncing all my music to iPhone. I have too much apparently. I note that there are 3.75 GB of "other" on the iPhone. Is this too much? Should I do a factory reset to clear it out? Thanks.

The usual size of the "Other" section is around 2GB, it can be bigger if some 3rd party apps store their data in this section as well, but if it grows beyond that size, the iOS likely moved damaged or unreadable data to this place.

Hello,
I recently (yesterday) updated my iPhone 4S to version 8.1.2. I was very reluctant to update such an old device to such new hardware, but I finally took the plunge after not being able to download or use many applications anymore.
Afterward, aside from running slow, as expected, the only big issue was that my music would not play. When I clicked on a song, instead of playing, it would shuffle very quickly through all of my songs, as though each song was less than a second long. I suspected that my music files were missing and/or corrupted. So I removed all of my music by syncing, hoping to re-add the music again and all would be well.
Unfortunately, the after removing the music, the 'Other' category was suddenly taking up around 8.5 GB, whereas before I had roughly 2.5 GB in 'Other'. My music is about 6 GB worth, so I suspect that the music has somehow been converted from 'Audio' files to 'Other'.
Now I have no music on my iPhone and about 6 GB of seemingly nothing taking up the remainder of my space. Any thoughts on how I can remove this useless memory? I have already ran "PhoneClean Pro", which removed about 300-400 MB or so, but I believe this to be unrelated data.

When I synced my phone this morning, all of my music (except songs I purchased through iTunes, which is only about 1.3 GB worth) was removed. However, there is now 38.2 GB of 'other' on my phone (taking up most of my 56 GB of storage space), which is presume is my music still sitting there, even though I can't access it.
I've tried several things to get rid of this big lump of useless data, including:
1) Unchecking and then re-checking 'sync music'
2) Restoring my phone from the iTunes backup
3) Resetting my phone by holding down the sleep and home buttons
4) Restarting iTunes
So far, nothing's worked. -
Are there any fixes or solutions to these IOS 5 issues?

We're users on this forum, just like you. We're not Apple support.
As far as your problem is concerned, have you done the steps recommended in the user guide: restart? reset? restore?
If you've done that and you still have the problem, bring the phone into Apple for evaluation. If there's a problem with the phone, it will be replaced. -

my iphone 4s has been reporting invalid sim/sim card failure intermittently for a week. I thought it was a one/two-time thing, so had to manually eject SIM card and put back in. Today, after it happened twice in 12 hours, someone told me to reset - i thought they meant reset all settings, not network settings. while in the middle of resetting, there was an invalid SIM card again. so a few questions - which should i do first? try to manually back up from itunes (not connected to cloud - will be after tonight!), or eject SIM card? don't know if one will jeopardize the other. also, the last time i backed up was 6 days ago - have taken hundreds of pics since then - are those all lost? is there a way to essentially not reset? i thought the reset was okay because it said i'd lose no data or media. Help! thanks much!

After working fine for several months, my iPhone 5 has started dropping bluetooth connectivity for 2 to 5 seconds at a time with my Sony MDR-1RBT headphones. The headphones work fine with other bluetooth devices. I haven't moved to iOS7 yet. Any ideas?
What user troubleshooting have you done on the phone? The steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Understand that a restore will put the latest iOS on your device. It is also possible there is a hardware fault on the device and the Bluetooth is failing. Anything is possible given the scenario you describe.
And as far as iOS 7.x is concerned, we have 5 different iPhones here at home, all with the latest iOS, a 4, 4s, 5c, and 2-5s and all are working just fine. So, a blanket statement such as the one provided by the other poster is not completely true. Others are not having any issues at all either. -

Sounds like you've switched on something under accessibility, I have an iPhone 5s & there it's under settings>General>accessibility.
To swipe you could try using two fingers.

iphone 4 has a black scrren which will display the apple logo and appears to be at start up but then blacks out for approx 10 seconds and then displays apple logo again. Same action over and over.
I have attempted hard reset but cannot complete. Also attempted to connect with itunes and it does not recongize device.
Device is frozen in this display loop. Have an appointment with genius bar tomorrow but it's a 2.5 hour round trip so suggestion appreciated.Your device may need to be restored as new in iTunes (instead of restored from a back up as it seems that there is a software issue on your phone).
If your phone is not able to connect in iTunes try forcing recovery mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808)
* power off your phone.
* Hold the home button while connecting your phone to iTunes. You should see the connect to iTunes window and your computer should give you the recover mode alert.
*Restore your device as new. Being sure not to restore from a previous back up.
You will then want to sync your information back to your device from Outlook, iCloud, Google or wherever your information is stored. -

Sorry, there is nothing you can do until the device is removed from the sellers Apple ID.

I was in the middle of the iOS 8 update and tried to turn my phone off (yes, I realize this was dumb) But what happened was it tried to reset. Now, my iphone 4s has the connect to itunes screen. I have tried to reset, recover, etc but I keep getting and error -51 message. Any ideas how I can get my phone working again? I am not worried about saving any info just having a phone to use!
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -

You can reset the device through settings > general > reset > reset all settings.
You can restore the software of the device through iTunes.
Depending on your computer operationg system ( Mac or Windows) you will need to find the menu bar ( File, Edit, View...etc) and click View > Show Sidebar. -

Try cleaning the dock connector. Try a new cable or charger.
If no luck, it should be covered under warranty. -
