my Iphone 5 has mail usage at 7.2KB. I have no mail in mail box. Why is it taking up so much space? My IPAD has 10,000 message and my usage for mail there is 535 MB, What's wrong with my Iphone 5? Thanks

<Edited by Host>'Locked' can have two meanings. It can mean locked to a specific carrier (service provider); if you want to unlock it to use it with another carrier only the original carrier can unlock it.
More likely you are talking about the other meaning, where a phone is 'Activation Locked'. Is this a second-hand (used) phone? If it is, and the previous owner has set up Activation Lock, this will prevent you doing anything with the phone at all.
If this is the case, only the previous owner can unlock it, either by giving you his Apple ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices - details here:

If you can't contact the previous owner to get him to do this you will be unable to use the phone. Only he can unlock it: Apple cannot do it for you.

If that did not reduce Other, then unfortunately the source of the problem is contained in your backup and the only way to solve it is to save as much of your data as you can, then restore as a new iPhone and start over. You can save your photo stream photos to the camera roll (by opening the my camera roll album, tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import your photos and videos to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), write down all your email account settings, back up your contacts, calendar, reminders and notes by syncing them with iCloud. If you have any voice memos, you can email them to yourself. If you have voicemails, music not purchased from the iTunes store or photos in your photo library that are not on your computer or in your iTunes library you'll have to use 3rd party software to save these, such as Touch Copy (PC and Mac) or PhoneView (Mac only). Then transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (File>Devices>Transfer Purchases) and sync your phone. This will save most of your data, but you will lose your text message conversations.
The other option is not to back up to iCloud and instead back up to your computer using iTunes. You're problem with Other won't go away and will probably continue to get worse until you bite the bullet and deal with it. -
Help......I just synchronised my iphone 4 with my laptop and i now have no contacts on my phone....it scrubbed the lot (thousands!)....how do I get them back!!
i have seen a lot of people do this when they impatiently disconnect the iphone before completing and update.
Simple restore the iphone from your last back up.
right click on the device in iTunes and select restore from backup. -
My husband and I both have Iphone 4's. I do not receive any text messages that he sends me. He gets mine though. He sends texts to other iphone users and they get them. I get text messages from other phones including iphones. Please help.
Both of yall need to go to settings, meassages, send and recieve, scroll down to start new conversation from, and make sure you have different email addresses with a check mark beside it. Right now sounds like they are the same email addresses.

The iTunes Store has never officially been available from the Channel Islands, which though a crown dependency are not (as far as the record companies are concerned, and they are the driving force behind these restrictions) part of the UK. The terms of use for the iTunes Store say that access to the UK iTunes Store from outside its country isn't allowed and it's possible that Apple is now enforcing that by technical means.

i have no messages in my phone but my storage is 90% full and in my usage it says i have 12MG in messages (saved) but i dont have any messages in my phone - where are they saved ? how can i delete them? please help

We want to make sure that we get your phone up and running. Can you look to see where you have the most stuff stored at. Settings>General>Usage>Storage.
This will tell you what exactly is using everything. Then you can delete things from there.

How does it happen that I have 127MB of mail and attachments in the usage overview on my iPhone 5 Mail when everything is empty? Nothing is there, complete blank of attachments, drafts, e-mails, sent messages, contacts and so on. I can't believe that the Mail app in itself has the size of as much of 127MB, or does anyone know if this is true or not and to help me to solve it?

If I check the usage under settings, general, usage - my mail shows over 400mb but I have only a few messages in the mailboxes.
How do I reduce this usage anyone?
ThanksI guess that maybe one way but it does seem drastic - Im wondering why it shows 400mb usage when clearly thats not the case - maybe someone else has an idea?

Why am I using so much data now on Iphone 5 compared to my Android?
I have had three smart phones, two Android and now the Iphone 5 all with Verizon. I have never come close to using a gig with my data, but now, with the Iphone 5, I am almost near my limit of 2GB for two months in a row. I don't get it???? I use wifi all the time at home and work. I do not stream movies. Music, but only on wifi. Anyone have any answers??

You can also temporarily disable cellular data when it’s not needed.
From the Home screen:
iPhone: Tap Settings > General > Network
iPad: Tap Settings > Cellular Data
Slide the toggle next to Cellular Data to off. This will disable all cellular data traffic until it’s enabled again.

And it's every time y'all add a update I'm at 6.1.3 and that's 3 updates from the time I had got this phone replace in oct and been out of wi/fi two months now and all the reboots from oct I had to do

My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3. -
Itunes match using too much space on iphone
I originally had about 12 gb of music on my iphone 4s after synching my full music library through iTunes. However, now that I've turned on iTunes Match, the iTunes synch screen indicates that the storage space used for my music has doubled to 24gb.
Does using iTunes Match require that you use double the storage space on an iOS device?The most likely reason for an increased use of storage space on your phone is if Match has replaced some of your songs on your Mac with higher quality 256Kb files, thereby increasing their Mb size, which you are now syncing to your phone.
With Match turned on, you can still Sync music from iTunes in the 'tradional' way, by plugging the phone in & choosing the songs to sync. This is still the quickest way to get songs on your phone & give you the most control.
When playing songs that aren't 'traditionally' synced to your phone. ie, getting them from the Cloud, there are TWO (2) options.
1) You can STREAM the songs from the cloud & listen to them on your device, but it won't actually download the song to you device's storage drive. You do this by just clicking on the song title of what you want to played.
2) You can DOWNLOAD the song to physically take up place on your devices storage drive. You do this by clicking on the cloud symbol with the little downwards facing arrow. As the cloud has all your matched music in 256kb quality, downloading songs to your device this way will take up more space on your storage drive then you were used to, if your original files were of lesser quality on your Mac.
Hope that clears things up a bit mate? It's been a minefield of stuff to work out for me too, but looks like i've got the majority of it working. -

It's been a while since I've synced with my computer (yes, I'm still on iOS 4.0). Tonight I finally synced all my music, apps, purchases, etc. Tried to import all photos into iPhoto (tried 3 times) and about a third of the way through my 3,000 files it quit on me and didn't import a single thing.
After I did a manual backup of the phone, iTunes said it would download the file to update my iOS to 5.0. Took almost an hour to get the update file... and now iTunes no longer sees my iPhone as "Erica's iPhone," it's just a generic iPhone symbol and it says "Set up your iPhone" / "This computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or other device" / "Restore from backup" which started automatically. Am I about to lose everything on my phone?!?!?!

I Can't access the data on my Time Capsule
