My iPhone 5 has started to take small resolution photos (640x852) using the standard camera app (back camera, not the low res front camera)), how do I get back to the original large resolution photos it used to take? Thanks Natasha.

Why does my iPhone 4s camera take smaller resolution photos?

Randomly my iPhone 4s camera will take pictures of a resolution less than the maximum 8MP, and I can't seem to understand why that is. Is this an automatic setting that Apple has put in place that adjusts due to lighting? I've noticed outdoor shots or those inside with a lot of lighting are more likely to have the full 8MP pixels, but when used in lower lighting settings, my pictures come through at say - 1280 x 960. What might I do to correct this (if anything)?

I have noticed this when zooming - are you doing that?
When I am not zoomed in, I get the correct resolution of 2592x1936 (5MP, i4)

you cannot overcharge the iPhone battery. You can leave it plugged in with a full charge for as long as you want. It will not affect the battery at all.

Is your phone jailbroken? If not, just ignore/delete the message...it's a Flash SMS, & nothing but spam. If your phone is not jailbroken, you have nothing to worry about.

Had iphone 5 15 days and a mark has started to show up on photos, esp when I zoom in.

I have a new iphone 5 on a contract with Orange and yesterday I noticed this strange mark on all the photos taken in the last few days. (see picture)I have always kept the phone in an impactology case and have screen protectors front and back. I realise this has happened while the phone belonged to me and not before, but I believe that the camera on such an expensive phone should not become dameged so quickly in biew of all the protections I have in place. Will Apple replce or repair this issue or will I have to pay? Alternatively ought I to go to Orange, with whom I have the contract? Please help.

The lens cover is sapphire glass which is pretty scratch resistant, if you have damaged it I think there is not much you can do unless you have insurance, all the protection in the world wont help if the camera lens got bashed or you dropped it. However if its a fault and you see no marks on the camera take it in, Apple may help you out as its new possibly but don't hold your breath. If its a fault talk to Orange first. The fact the phone is expensive is neither here nor there, you can still crash a Ferrari and damage it, cost does not mean its not easy to damage.

My iphone has started reporting incorrect username or password for my gmail account

I have re-entered both and checked that they match the ones which I use succesfully in Apple Mail on my Mac. I have also deleted and re-added the account with no effect. I notice that in Apple Mail the gmail account is set to use POP for incoming gmail whereas on the iPhone it appears to be set for IMAP, as the error message when I re-enter details refers to imap.gmail.com.
I can still send email from the gmail account on the iPhone and incoming gmail still works on the Mac.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. Thankfully it has not been necessary to make use of it as the problem solved itself.
Some research on another thread suggested a similar problem in August 2012. Some suggested that it was a fault at Google and that it cleared up of its own accord (without Google ever admitting it had happened). This appears to have been the case again on this occasion. I went to bed having failed to solve it and woke up to find it working again without so much as a re-boot.

Iphone has started to pickup deleted messages

I'm using an iphone 4, version 5.1.1. About 3 weeks ago it started re-retreiving deleted messages. After I delete them, they show back up as new the next time my email is retreived. They never show up twice on my MacBook, just my iphone. After I delete them a second time, they don't come back. There are also two copies of everything in the Trash on my iphone. Once for each time I deleted them. I haven't done any updates to my phone in this time, nor have I changed any settings that I know of. I had been using the phone as it is for several months before this started happening. Any advice?

So it happened again today. My iPhone just shut down like that. I connected it to my MBP and after a couple of minutes when the iPhone powered back on it showed a charge battery at 65%. Thinking it was just me I ejected the iPhone and went on with my day. Sure enough, 5 minutes later the charge icon appears and the phone shuts off. So obviously the battery charge indicator is not correct.
Any suggestions?

Suddenly FF has started to take several minutes to load from the Icon. Thunderbird still loads instantly. I am using Microsoft OS

I use Vista Microsoft OS and have FF and Thunderbird icons installed. Over the last through weeks the FF Icon has often taken several minutes to load the front page. Thunderbird still loads fairly much instantly.

My iPhone has started freezing after I wake it an slide the switch to go to the password screen. Any ideas on cause or solution ?

In the pas 24 hours I have begun experiencing frequent screen freezes when I attempt to in lock my phone.

You didn't mention anything that you may have done to trouble shoot the problem, so I will start with the basics.
Shut down all multitasking apps that may be running in the background. They may be causing memory overload and not allowing the phone to function properly.
1. Double press the home button to open the multitasking tray
2. Tap and hold any app icon until they all start to wiggle and display the X button on each icon
3. Tap the x button to close the app
4. Repeat for all apps
5. Press home button to close multitasking tray
Check to see if phone is functioning properly.
If not go on to the next step
Restart your phone (Kind of like restarting your computer when it starts to act all wonky.
1. Press and hold BOTH the power button and the home button at the same time
2. Continue to hold both buttons down for at least 15 seconds or until the Slide To Power Off screen appears and disappears
3. Wait for the silver apple logo to appear
4. Release both buttons and wait for phone to return to lock screen
5. Try unlocking the phone
If this doesn't work you may have a more serious problem.
At this point I would try to reset your network settings just to clear out everything that may be causing the phone to act up.
1. Settings

3. Scroll to bottom of screen
4. Reset
5. Reset Network Settings
Wait for phone to restart and see if it's working again. You will have to reenter your wifi passwords when you connect to a wifi network.
If not the last thing I would try is to do a Reset All Settings option. This will set your phone back to its default state but don't worry, it won't erase any of your content. At least it is not supposed to. I have done this a number of times because of the battery life issue I picked up when I updated to iOS 5.0.1 and I haven't lost a thing.
You just have to reenter your passwords again and maybe turn off the things you turned off before, i.e. Siri Raise To Speak, Locations, etc.

5. Reset All Settings
Wait for phone to restart. Go through the setup routine. I normally do a set up as new phone when I do this to get back to factory defaults and then just set up the things I want on or off.
If none of this helps you may have an app that is causing the problem (Think back to the app you may have added just before this problem started and delete it to see what happens).
If that isn't the cause and if you phone is still acting up on you, you may have a hardware problem. Time to head to the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple Store, assuming you are close enough to one. Or go to the storew where you bought the phone, if you bought it at a physical store rather than online and have them look it over and see if you need a hardware replacement.

This is the fix.......very simple
Turn off repeat.
This is covered in the manual.

Play the song, tap the screen, tap the repeat icon (Top Left of screen, two arrows in a circle) until it is white = off.

Can not get the high resolution photo from iCloud on the iPhone5s, unless re-share the photo to the iCloud.

If you plug up both to computer, open itunes, click "back up to computer" on both (not necessary for the one that's being transferred to) then on the one that's sending data click "back up" in the iTunes menu. It will then back up (if not already done in sync). Now plug up the second one (being transferred to) and on the iTunes menu, click "restore from backup" then choose the device you just backed up, and click "ok" or what it says.

Once I connect the phone to a power source, in a couple of minutes it's ready to roll again, and displaying a "full battery" icon.
The phone is almost always fully charged when this happens, and I don't get a crash when the phone is plugged into a power source.
Took my iphone to apple store, they informed that battery is very good and there is no need for replacement. Might be there is a problem with iphone motherboard. But they can't repair it as my 3GS crossed warranty.
Where should I go to repair this. Within 2 years...this 32GB 3GS is almost garbage for me with no support from apple. I am ready to send it to apple for repairs and pay the repair charges.
I tried everything... deep reset ... factory settings .... nothing is working... Apple staff pl. take care of your customers ...

Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, or 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.

It sounds like either your hard drive or the SATA cable that connects it to the motherboard are failing. This could be heat related in your case, which is why you see it after it runs awhile. You can take it to the Genius Bar for a free evaluation. If you decide to test it yourself, I usually suggest moving the hard drive to an external enclosure. If it works there for awhile, the cable is probably the issue.
