My Iphone 5 headset sounds bad.

Hi,
I think the headphone mini jack is the problem. When i put my headset on.
It sounds like a ruined speakers. More of a grounded speakers.
I used the headset to an ipad and it sounds just fine.
I had just got the problem after i updated it to ios 7.0.3. But i don't know what's the reason.
I also plugged in a random jack to connect with a speakers in my iphone 5 efore I updated it.
What to do? And how to fix it?
Thank you all, and God Bless.

I have the exact same problem since the update to ios 7.0.3.
Headphones work fine on with the iPad. I have found that non apple headphones work fine with the iPhone so I do not think it is a hardware problem.
I have also found that by holding down the remote button on the apple headphones the sound comes through fine. I have also tried refreshing and resetting the iphone but nothing seems to work.
It must be a problem with the new software and I intend on going to the apple store on Friday to see if they can find a fix.

  • Bad iPhone 6 sound quiality on calls

Hello. My iphone 6 sound quality during calls is bad. Sounds like the speaker is broken or something. I hear people like they were talking to me trouth a walkie talkie. I disable ambiend noise and nothing. I did get a little better quality enabling Hearing Aid Mode and the sound whent ok a little but still bad compared to iphone 5. Now i got a new iphone 6 for my wife and the same thing is happening. What is this a software or hardware problem? Sorry for my bad english.

Your house is haunted! lol I've never heard of any issue like this. The best thing to do is to set up an appointment by going to www.apple.com/retail.

  • Siri sounds bad when using Bluetooth

Siri sounds bad when using Bluetooth, but the phone calls sound great.

Can a few of you help me with a test? I have a Jawbone 2 & a Jawbone Icon. Both exhibit a strange behavior with my iPhone 4. If either of these headsets are on, paired & connected AND a call is answered or initiated, things are fine.
When it all goes downhill is in this scenario:
My headset is OFF. I receive or make a call and mid-call, I decide to turn on the headset (which I keep off to save battery). The Jawbone connects and automatically switches the iPhone from PHONE to JAWBONE. This is all normal right? Okay here's the problem. The call quality has static, sounds muffled and the caller tells me I sound like I'm in a tin can. If I then switch back to the phone (through the iPhone page of Sources) and then back again, to the Jawbone, most times--quality is back to normal. Obviously this is not something we all want to be doing. Can anyone do this test with their headset .. any brand and even some of you with Icons? It would be good to know if the culprit is the Bluetooth Headset or the iPhone. Remember, it's important that you make a call with your Bluetooth headset in the OFF position and then turn it on mid-call to use it.

I have a nearly identical problem with my Ipad 3. Mine is the left channel. I've yet to find help, but have found a number of other posts on this and other forums discussing the issue. People have tried restore, reset etc. Also, cleaning the ports with compressed air or cotton swabs. It appears to be a software issue, but no one is sure.
Along with the original poster, I'd appreciate any help.
As far as the 'level 6' poster, if you're going to be rude, please don't bother. Hope it was just a bad day.

  • Siri sounds bad

Since updating on iOS 7, Siri sounds really bad (like a computer voice). On other iPhones Siri sounds clear and natural. What's wrong with my iPhone 5?

I have this problem too on my new iPad Air.
    Apples explanation is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5025?viewlocale=en_US
In general comes a clean iOS install with so called compact voices. Those are the ones that sound robotic. As soon the device knows what language you are going to use, it will download the natural one. (Power and Wifi required just as with backups.)
After reading some of the rumors and assumptions in other Siri voice questions I like to add:
    - the voice is generated on the device, not on Apples servers, thus a high load in the backend wont result in a bad voice quality.
    - including all voices for all languages in the initial OS install packet would increase the size massively and waste space on the device you rather want to use for documents and Lapps. Downloading localizations is sensible common practice in app's. (See Where is my Water 1 from Disney on the iOS App Store for instance)

    Hey Kirby17,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are not getting any sound from the speaker, follow this article.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

  • MBP and iPhone headset

    Hi guys,
Just got a new MBP 13 inch today. I'm using the headset that came with my iPhone on the new Mac, and I noticed that after I plug in my headset, sound will continue to come out of the speaker for about 2 seconds before it goes into the earphone. Is this normal? Thanks!

Yes, this is normal, or atleast this is what I have experienced.

  • Is there a quality iphone headset cord extension that allows the music/call buttons to work?

    Hi folks,
The open-style earphones included with the iPhone 4S work very well, but the cord is about 6" too short (deep pockets).  I've looked online but am having difficulty finding a quality iphone headset cord extension that [definitely] allows the music/call buttons to work.  Alternatively, are there other open-style earphones (as opposed to in-ear buds) that have the same music/call buttons and a longer cord?
    Thanks.
    Jeff

I would also like this issue addressed.
I am using a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and when it is connected to my iPhone 4, email and text sounds are not audible through the phone. The phone just vibrates when a new text or email is received.
I don't really care if it plays through the headset, but it should at least play through the phone. I tested the headset from a BlackBerry and the alerts play fine.

  • Feedback for Apple on iPhone Headset

I develop software for a living. I also use a considerable amount of technology at both work and home, including using Bluetooth and Wifi to connect robots and computers together.
I've played with (4) iPhone headsets (three on exchange from the Apple store, and one friend's) over the past two days and I thought I would post my observations so Apple would have more data on which to hopefully address these issues. Most of this stuff echoes what others are saying here in these forums:
    - the headset has limited range
    - the headset drops out, or disconnects occasionally
    - the headset has a considerable amount of hiss during a call
I'm 6'8" tall. When the phone is in the opposite pants pocket (phone in left pocket, headset in right ear), I experience drop outs and disconnects with the headset. When the phone is on my desk, I experience drop outs and disconnects when about 10-12 feet away. Keeping the phone in the same-side pocket seems to work ok. Lame, but acceptable.
I went into Sam's on Sunday and experienced a complete disconnect the entire time I was in the store. Only until I left did the phone and headset re-pair with each other. This was while holding the phone in my hand, only a few feet away from the headset. I assume interference from other headsets/computers was causing this. Switching to my Motorola headset in-store, I had no problems.
I just ran a test at work with a Treo 650. Same symptoms, drop outs and disconnects. Limited distance away, ran into the same symptoms.
I also tested the iPhone headset with an iMac 24" and surprisingly it works 30' away, out of line of site, and in another room (wall between). No disconnect, no drop outs, little to no hiss. I got the exact same performance from my $50 Motorola headset.
The going theory is that the signal strength/gain in the iPhone is lower than what the computer can achieve. In the same vein, the Motorola headset probably has higher signal strength and gain than the iPhone headset, which alleviates the lower gain on the iPhone, but plays no factor when connecting directly to the (stronger signal based) computer.
Together however, the iPhone and iPhone headset are a bad pair. I'm wondering if it would be possible to boost power to the Bluetooth radio on the iPhone to help this problem? I realize that adding power on the phone doesn't increase gain on the phone, so there is still the issue with the headset transmitting a decent signal back to the phone. Perhaps a gain in power from the headset can be done via a software upgrade? Four connectors on the bottom of the unit...can it be flashed?
It's possible that the environments we are in are causing interference: http://www.mobileinfo.com/Bluetooth/FAQ.htm#t3 - perhaps the headset is being interfered with by other devices (like Wifi)?
I love the small form factor, the charging station, in-ear setup, the level of the volume, and the simplicity of the unit. However, the performance leaves a LOT to be desired.
I would like to see an Apple representitive appear here to address these concerns. Obviously disconnects experienced in one's (albeit large) pocket isn't acceptable.

I have already reported the issues to the manager of the store in my town, and she notified me that she was working on getting the issue up the chain of command.
The feedback form is a one-way communications channel, and I find it unacceptable to use in a situation where numerous users are experiencing the same issues over and over. It is unlikely that my complaint is unique, however I've tried to be as detailed as possible here so that others in the forums can focus and refine the issue so that we may become aware of what the real problem is with the unit.
I love the product, but it is clearly flawed in some fundamental way. It is far better to get this out in the open to discuss, rather than ***** and moan about it aimlessly.
I'm keeping my headset, and will continue providing as much feedback here in the forums as necessary as I work to establish a cause and solution.
    Thanks for your reply!

  • Internal right speaker sounds bad

the right side internal speaker on mt mac book air sounds bad (static) .

    Allan,
You seem to be one of the more informed users, so I would like your opinion. I took my iPhone to an Apple store because the speaker sounds like crap (statics out like it's blown) when playing any kind of music with a heavy sound to it (like Nickelback or Linkin Park), especially guitar ...regardless of the volume level and I can barely hear anyone on speaker phone while in my car. The reps at the store assured me that the speaker is fine and demonstrated similar performance with their iPhones. They offered to replace it anyway, but I declined since the speaker sounded just like theirs. Is it just me or is the speaker on the iPhone extremely disappointing to say the least? My wife's Black Berry sounds awesome compared to my iPhone. Does your phone have a weak speaker or exhibit the same performance when playing loud music?

My iphone 4 sound is only working in my music app and my videos and my ringtone but not on any apps such as snapchat, facebook, youtube, instagram, and more. what should i do?

Standard user troubleshooting as outlined in the manual are restart, reset, restore, restore as new. Start with a simple power off, and back on. Any change?

  • IPhone headset no more able to control iTunes playback on MacBook Pro

After I have updated to Mac OS X 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 on the latest 13" MacBook Pro, it's not possible to control the iTunes via iPhone headset anymore. Only the volume keys work but the middle key (which can be used for play, pause, next, previous, fast forward) stopped working. I've been looking for any possible settings to activate that in iTunes but I can't see any. Can anyone else confirm that? And could you suggest a solution? I was really used to controlling iTunes playback the same way I am controlling it on the iPhone and I thought it was really cool that Apple has allowed such consistency and interoperability between products. I hope that's a bug and not a decision.
