My iPhone 5 will not switch to landscape. when texting or using safari it will work during games or if I go to home screen turn phone sideways and double tap select messages then it will go to landscape. I have tried locking it then unlocking it. I have even tried doing a soft reboot an nothing seems to work? Any ideas of the problem an how to fix it?

Well I deleted the Facebook app and reinstalled the latest version to try to correct the issue and it still didnt work. I had changed a bunch of settings earlier to try and fix it and it worked for the video to be landscape but as soon as I closed out of the app and re-opened it then it quit working.

TThe first thing to do is check, as Dilbert41 mentioned, whether the Rotation Lock is on. if you see the circular arrow around a small padlock at the top right of your screen turn it off using the Control Center. If the Roation Lock is off try a reset of your iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

Safari will not switch to landscape

I just updated the operating system on my ipad and safari will not switch to landscape. All other apps switch between portrait and landscape when I turn the ipad.

Try three 'standard' troubleshooting techniques for Safari :
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I Updated My IPhone 4 on the 2nd of Jan 2013 and since then it will not switch off silent mode with the switch on the side of the phone , does any one know what i can do or if there is any other way to switch it off silent ?

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can clear some glitches.

IPhone 4 will not switch on

My iphone 4 stopped working today and I can not get it to restore.
What I have tried, I tired DFU Mode below and nothings.
Plug your device into your computer.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
I did manage to hold the home button for 4 secs and connect the usb to my mac and then opend itunes and it carried out a restore, it completed most of the way but when reloading my apps it crashed again and now it will not do anything, I cant get it to switch on or get itunes to reconise it.....I've search forum and google and tried most things.
Any help please?

I can now get it into DFU mode, when I click retore I was getting a 3194 error This device isn't elidible for the request buid. I follow the steps below and I am now getting a 1600/1601 error.
I have tried a new cable and differenct USB port, I have tried restarting i tunes and mac and keep getting this 1600/1601, so only thing I can think of now is that because I am at work the network firewall is casuing an issue so will retry at home. I also tried tinyumbrella but the device is still not recongised on this!

Open the Terminal utility, located in Applications > Utilities.
Note: If you are using a business computer, the hosts file may be used to redirect to local resources, such as software updates. Consult your support resources.
When Terminal opens, open the hosts file by typing the following command and pressing the Return key:
sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Type your user password when prompted (this requires a nonblank administrator password). When you type the user password after the "Password:" prompt appears, you will not see anything appear in the Terminal window (no letters or bullets or cursor movement). Just type in the password and press the Return key. If you enter the password incorrectly, the message "Sorry, try again" will appear. Reenter the password.
Edit the hosts file:
The hosts file contains some comments (lines starting with the # symbol), as well as some default host-name mappings (e.g. 127.0.0.1 - localhost).
Navigate the file using the arrow keys.
If you find an entry containing gs.apple.com, add a # and then a space to the beginning of that line.
Save the hosts file.
When done editing the hosts file, press Control-o to save the file.
Press Enter when prompted for the filename, and Control-x to exit the editor.
Restart the computer and attempt to restore with iTunes.

My 4s had at least 70% charge, and was working without ant issues. Then, when I checked it about 5 mins later it will not wake up!
My mac will not detect it when connected, and the phone will not charge- it has died!!!!
Any advice, or is it a return it to apple for repair?

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may start up on its own. If still OFF after 10 minutes, keep on Wall Charger and Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to start itself. Usually takes less than 20 seconds of holding both buttons.

My iphone 3g is two years and i never have had any problems with it, my battery run completely flat yesterday ( this is probably the 4th occasion i have ever done this) normally when i see the message of 20% battery left I put my phone onto charge.
So I plugged the charger in and the red battery did not show nor did the responsive noise sound when you charge. The charger is in full working order as I tested it with my hubbys charger. I left it on charge for about half an hour still nothing ( I know some times its take a while as the battery needs to get a bit charge to operate.
I tried turning in on from the top and also tried holding the top and the bottom button to get the apple sign still nothing??
I tried calling my phone from another phone and it rung out and didn't go straight to answering machine ( which this may of happened if the battery was totally dead) Although my actual phone did not ring I tried turning the volume up and making sure the ringer was on to see if it would ring out but nothing.
I then decided to connect to itunes to see if it would recognise if the phone was switched on or off! it recognised it was switched on as it was asking for my passcode.. so i tried entering it on the blank screen of my phone but no joy!
Has this happeneed to anyone else?? I will go to the apple store this weekend dose anyone know if this is a problem that be solved and also any idea whether apple will repair it, any ideas on costs ETC...

Are you SURE the battery has power? If possible try plugging the phone into a wall outlet with a different chord. Maybe the chord is bad?

Once keypad is invoked, it will not switch portrait/landscape.

I like typing in landscape. some iPhone websites, and various places where the user would enter text, are easier to read in portrait. Once the keypad is invoked, it will no longer change when you turn the phone. I have to cancel the entry, turn the phone and then re-invoke the keypad.
This is not listed as a question, it's more of a gripe. it's something that, if fixed, would have to be fixed in an update. Anybody else notice this?

I went to use my iphone 4 and it was switched off. i tried to switch it back on, but it just won't come back on. I thought that i might have drained the battery, so have had it on charge for 30 mins, but there is no charge indicator on the phone.
i have tried pressing/holding the wakeup keys and home but nothing happens.
can anyone help?

Thanks darren i called apple and they did me a reboot and update. luckily i have my phone backed up ti itunes so when it actually started to work, it was just a matter of time taken to restore it. Thanks .. hope you dont have the same probs with ios7 that i have had.
