My iphone 5 will not sync music

My iphone 5 will not sync the music i have selected. It shows the songs that should be added in gray when I look at the 'on this iphone' tab but when I attempt to sync the phone nothing is added. This is ridiculous. These phones cost a ton of money and you dont even have software that works with them. I have had iphones and and ipods for many years and have never had the kind of problems i have experienced recently. I also recently reformatted my ipod to PC and it wont copy my music over either. What is going on?

Yes, I have the exact same problem with my 4s! Updated to iOS 7 and can't sync. It's extremely frustrating, as music is crucial in my daily life.  I was able to remove all songs from my iPhone...and now when I try to sync the 4,000 or so I've selected, it will sync maybe 11 or 12 (if it gets past the "Waiting for changes to be applied" screen), and then just completely stop. No error code or anything. It just stops. It's driving me crazy.  See the following 2 links, one is a discussion I created and the 2nd is 5 or so people with the same issue.

  • My iPhone 4 will not sync music after the update, please help....

After updating the new ios my iPhone will not sync any music.  My iPad is syncs fine its just my iPhone 4.

This is almost embarassing. For some totally unexplainable reason all the songs in iTunes were unchecked. I was considering syncing the whole iTunes library to my iPnone, tut even with the 32 Gb version it would not hold it all. I restarted my MBP, and the message about the unchecked songs came up. It obviously is not enough to have songs checked for the iPhone. Thanks anyway.

  • My iphone 4s will not sync music or playlists

after installing the most recent update, my phone will not sync any playlists or music to my phone.  All I have are the icloud songs but can't add any music that i have that are not purchased or any playlists.  Is there a solution or do I revert back to an old iOS?

I've got this problem too. I have loads of apple devices and each has a different playlist. I add new tracks to the iphone 4s playlist but when I sync nothing transfers to the phone. When I start the sync the bar indicating available space shifts to indicate that less space will be available but when the sync finishes no tracks have transferred and the available space has gone back to what it was before.
Also noticed that the space taken up by "Other" has dimished to zero.
I've reset the iphone to no avail.
This seemed to happen at the same time as podcasts started coming up as unavailable.

I just bought a new phone and it will not sync current music from the library. I have tried the basics, but nothing is working.

    Hi Samuel6495,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your music does not sync after updating your software, first retart your iPhone if you haven't already:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Next, try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the article below. If you're syncing music, try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

  • IPhone 5 Will not sync music

I am not having a problem syncing my music to my iPhone 5 from a restore.  I was originally having the issue of "itunes failed to synce iphone" and then would quit so I reset my iPhone and restored it from my backup.  The sync had been failing since Oct 28th which was my last wifi itunes sync.  Now after a restore I have all of my apps back where they should be but there is no music.  iTunes sometimes shows music on the phone in the capacity section, but then sometimes goes away.  I have 7.1GB of Other showing on the phone now with nothing else.  I am running iTunes 10.7, iOS 6.0.1. AT&T, and syncing to a 2010 Mac Mini.  Seems to be a software issue with iTunes or my iPhone, but music will not sycne regardless of restoring, reseting, or toggling on/off various sync options in music/general.  Any ideas or should I head into a store and get a new iPhone 5?  Everything used to work perfect with my iPhone 5 prior to the 6.0.1 update, aside from the items that update fixed like the app store keyboard issue.

  • IPhone 5 will not sync music after restore

I just restored my iPhone 5 because I was having a problem with all the data on the phone saying it was in the "Other" category when I was on the summary tab. So I got the backup and everything synced except my music. I've literally tried just about eveything to synce the music. I tried syncing it wirelessly but it won't even connect to my computer. Also the problem with all the data being displayed under the "Other" category is still a problem. Any help?

I have a similar problem. Mine started with iTunes putting multiple versions of the same songs (whole and seemingly random albums) onto my iPod 5, but after trying to remedy that I now cannot sync any music of any sort. It took random songs off and then started getting stuck at the "waiting to apply changes" stage (as apparently many people have seen) and after trying all the things that are supposed to work I now have an iPod that doesn't have any music on it (because a lot of my music was not purchased on iTunes) and won't sync music or finish any other kind of sync.
It seems like the "fixes" discovered so far don't work for everyone.
My iPod is 5th gen running iOS 7.0.4 (but problem started on 7.0.3) with the latest version of iTunes, for reference.

  • Iphone 4 will not sync music

i've been trying for hours to get my phone to sync music but it just not happening
when i look at whats on the phone it shows this but what is the circl next to the song nuber
how do i get my music on my phone
    please help... i'v tried everything

    In Itunes.
Summary options- Sync Checked Songs is checked.
Music Tab- Sync Music- Selected Playlist is checked.
Underneath- the various playlists are checked.
The capacity utilized goes up with increased playlists checked.
When sync is initiated it determines music tracks but never syncs the music prior to finishing sync.

  • IPhone 4 will not sync music after resetting and upgrading to 6.1.3

When I upgraded my iPhone to 6,1,3, an error message came up telling me to reset my iPhone. With the backup it went fine until I yesterday decided to listen to some of my 4400 songs. All the music is gone. I have had iPhone, iPad and iPod since they came on the market, and I have used Apple for some 25 years. I have neveer experienced this problem. I have checked all the settings both on my MBP (with all the latest software) and on my iPhone. Everything looks normal. There is about 25Gb available space on the iPhone. It goes through the stages of syncing, but skps the music. I could try resetting it again, but just incase the problem is a setting I have overlooked, I am asking all of you out there who have experienced this problem earlier and found a solution.

  • Any news from Apple as to when they will fix the issue that iphone 4s will not sync music with itunes?

I have tried all of the suggestions in the support communities. Itunes shows that my phone and my library are synced, however none of the changes I made to playlists show up on my phone
Is there any word from Apple as to when this will be addressed?

So this isn't just me? I'm getting on a flight in 12 hours and I've been trying to copy a book on tape over... I've got my cable but nothing will sync. It just keeps insisting I put everything on the cloud... However I can't bloody download audiobooks from the iCloud when I'm on an AIR PLANE. Would be nice to fix this up...

  • My iPhone 4s will not sync a changed playlist from itunes unless i turn off music match. Shouldn't I be able to use a playlist and music match at the same time?

my iPhone 4s will not sync a changed playlist from itunes unless i turn off music match. Shouldn't I be able to use a playlist and music match at the same time?

It's not entirely impossible actually as someone has pointed out to me that I can turn on Call Forwarding and that stops any incoming calls. I've just forwarded it to my google voice number and then turned on "do not disturb" in google voice and whenever I get a call it goes straight to my google voice voicemail and my phone does nothing. The only thing now is I still get text messages but I think the phone calls bugged me more because they would make my music turn off for much longer.
Even though this isn't a perfect solution it's something so far so maybe you shouldn't just come out and say there's NOTHING I can do because so far I've found part of a solution. If you don't have anyting productive to say then just don't reply and close the tab. Thanks.
At this point I'm wondering if anyone knows of any Jailbreak tweaks that can enable what I want. Unless of course it's agaisnt the rules of this forum to mention jailbreak stuff...

    Hi,
    Setting up syncing
Before setting up syncing you should download and install the latest version of iTunes. Wi-Fi syncing requires iTunes 10.5 or later and iOS 5 or later. You can change your sync options at any time. Each time you sync, content is synced between your iOS device and computer to reflect new, updated, or deleted content.
    USB syncing
    Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable and select it in iTunes under Devices on the left-hand side. Some tabs may not appear if you do not have corresponding content in your library. For example if you do not have any podcasts in your library, the corresponding Podcast tab will not appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.
    Wi-Fi syncing
    Open iTunes
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
The iOS device is plugged in to power
iTunes is open on the computer
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
    Hope this helps

itunes will not sync music to my ipod touch or iphone 3g. Passes all diagonostic tests. copies apps but not music. Any Ideas?

just bought iphone 4 today from verizon and had the same problem. this is my 1st smartphone ever. apps all synced when i plugged it in to my computer except the music. this is what i did and it worked. plugged in phone to computer. then under the devices tab i clicked on the music tab. if you look to the bottom right of the itunes page there will be two tabs you can click on. one says settings and the other one says autofill. i clicked on the autofill and then it just started syncing. that was it. i'm not a tech guy by any means. just kinda of got lucky. i hope this helps you out. good luck!
