My iPhone (5s/8.1.2) and iPad (orig mini/8.1.2) cannot see my Mac Book Pro (Yosemite) and vice versa in Airdrop
My iPhone 5s (current iOS 8.1.2) and iPad mini (ditto) can see each other in airdrop, but neither one can see my Mac Book Pro (early 2011/Yosemite). And the Mac Book Pro cannot see either iOS device.
I have read everything I can find about this and it seems like these iOS devices SHOULD be able to exchange with my Mac Book Pro using Airdrop, but I am unable to make it happen.
Can anyone enlighten me on what might be going on here?
I have been just wandering for quite a night over the web to find out a solution to this particular issue (no mid-2012 mac visible in Airdrop on iOS).
So, I seem to have found it and must share it:
the airdrop started working bidirectional for me after I had changed the following settings to "off" (or whatever it may be called in English version): system settings - network - bluetooth PAN - IPv4 configuration -> off.
If it works for you, please share further, because the problem seems very common with no solution readily offered.

Not all applications will go from Portrait to Landscape. Changing just requires you to turn the device. However, if you have the orientation lock activated, then it will not change to landscape. To check, look in the status bar and see if you can see a small lock shaped icon near the battery icon. If you do, then orientation lock is activated. To turn it off, swipe upwards from the bottom of the iPhone screen to bring up Control Center. The orientation lock is the last icon on the top row to the right. Tap on it to turn it off. White is on, black is off.

Why not upgrade to Snow Leopard, if you can?
NO. There is no way to downgrade your iPhone OS back to iOS6. Apple makes downgrades of their mobile OS not possible.
If you can, the only thing you can do is upgrade your Mac's OS X operating system.

Is it possible to sync my iPhone and iPad to my Mac Book Pro and have the same screens and apps? I see where all apps appear in my iPad syncing window, but I cannot make it exactly like my iPhone... Is this possible? Thank you!
Hi Kristi,
Connect your iPad and your iPhone to your MBPro. Launch iTunes. Under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window you can select either device then select Apps from the menu.
You can drag home screens and rearrange apps right from that window. Very smart idea on your part to do that. That way it's the same (or close to) on both devices.

iPad 3 and iPhone 4S won't synch with iTunes on Mac book pro. Error message says I need to have version 10.6.3 or later for iTunes. Mac iOS version 10.5.8 and iTunes on Mac is 10.6.1. iPad and iPhone version is 6.0(10A403). When I check for updates on the Mac book pro it says software versions are up to date.
When I check for iTunes version 10.6.3 it looks like it is for snow leopard operating system which I am not on. How to I get my devices to sync with computer. Everything worked prior to iOS 6 upgrade on remote devices.I'm having the same problem.

Is there a way to update to Mac OS 10.6.8 (or later) without wiping the hard drive and doing a new install?..

I need to talk to someone about changing all of my accounts. A iCloud account was opened not by me and I lost 17 years of contacts. I have slowly gotten them back. My files from my Mac Book were taken and are gone. It has cost me about 60,000 dollars in business since November which has effected my staff as well. Many personal ireplacable memories of my childrens Photos were taken, Business, designs and accounting and personalFiles you name it gone or corrupted. My main PC including 4 external hard drives, then the Mac Book, My Iphones,itouch. Ipad were next and then my Mac Book pro. This is very humbling and heart felt. those who work with me have very strong beliefs, it was an internal doing or I should say someone gained or was allowed access to my home and equipment. I travel and tour and am gone quite a bit. This was and is the most difficult thing that has happened to me in a long time. In truth business and work will and can be rectified that not the point. It's how and what has been done which is the most damaging very personal almost vidictive but I will stop there. I feel so violated and saddened at the same time. I am hoping to contact someone through Apple or even an outside source to see if my files can be recouped and how to go about doing these changes all at once without all of the emails back and forth to approve changes in accounts what a pain. I want to change all accounts associated with apple. Apple ID and Pass words, I tunes ID and Pass word you name it.When I leave for work now days I have to take all of my equipment or lock things in the safe. I have an alarm system that is very good in additons to, animals still with the animals inside the motion detectors are off and in reality the damage has been done . I now this sounds crazy but I have proof of my back up files not all of them plus you can see in my documents all of my business accounts which are in orderof complition and dates are empty. My email accounts were also hacked and thru that individuals were able to change at will. When you have over 20 years of an association and relationships they know everything about someone. I do not want to press charges but I am to that point I need to bring in someone to investigate and I really do not know whom to even call. I have won awards for my work and my designs and information being taken has hurt more than words can express. I am currently out of town doing this late at night. I have changed my banking you name it. I need to have access to my computers to work but the stress of these constant changes and invasion of privacy are beyond expression. I plug in any of my usb drives and they are empty or my computers do not recognize them. I plug in my usb connector from my HP 8100 Printer with Blue tooth capabilities and it pops up and an external E drive for downloading just like an external drive. My printer acepts every imaginable portable disk on the market . Many of my usb drives are gone or have been corrupted. I have this darn air drop that goes on all the time. My computers I turn off and then they are on when I get up. I can go on and on. I live in the bay area and I am asking for help in trying to stop all of this. I will call Apple next but I wanted to put it out on this forum with the hopes of some response or input. I have all of my new and very minimal recovered information now on a web-based server which I know is safe the pass words and set up were done very discreetly (one can only hope). I apologize in advance for laying this out there like this. I am just so frustrated and because of the POSSIBLE implications makes it even harder In which I truly want to be proven wrong. I have never written or thought that I would be doing this as it is. If anything I hope some good comes out of this for someone. Bluetooth is a powerful tool this much I know now. Wow this is just simply amazing. There are 14 products I have purchased. I have been a windows person for years because of my work somethings are prapriatary to that OS but I love the Apple products. I am despratley trying not to nor will I throw in the towel. I know its a great product and its not the product. I just want to have the best opotunity to recover and have control over my designs and pretty much my privacy and peace of mind not too much to ask..:-) Oh! do not get me wrong I am willing to pay for services thats not the issue here. How can i get my itunes library on my fiances' iphone 5? I have an iphone 4s, ipad and a Mac book pro. I thought I could have my music on up to ten different devises? I signed in on his phone and my music is in his itunes account but it is not in his music file.
I regret to say that you need a new computer. That G5, as good as it still is, simply cannot run the required software to be used with the latest iPhones and other software.

I have just bought a new mac book pro and want to use this machine as the main computer to which I will sync my iPhone and iPad.
How do I transfer the information within iTunes on my old mac book so when I connect the devices the new machine will not erase all my data?

How do set up your hotmail account on a mac book pro properly? I have it set up so I get mail but on my hotmail account I have lot of separate folders to save messages in(for example :- bank, skyp, work, Facebook, apple, ect...). They don't show up on my mac. I also have an iPhone and iPad, there is no issue here when I set those up. I automatically got my separate folders. Anybody have any idea or encountered the same problem?

Hotmail on a Mac is POP3 only, you will only get the basic folders (inbox, sent, trash etc) and it will not sync with other devices.

I have an Apple iphone 4s and for the last 4 weeks I cannot download or update any apps. I have an iPad and a Mac book pro and the apps download on these devices fine. My phone tells me that I have 12 updates but when I press update all or update any individually nothing happens at all. It also does not ask me for my password any more but my iPad and mac book do.
I have signed in and out of the app store and the password is correct. I have tried both kinds of reboot but that did nothing. I have tried to update the apps by connecting phone to Mac book pro...it shows the apps being download on the Mac book and says it will sync them to my phone but it does not. Everything else on my phone works fine.
Any ideas ...Please!Thank you, this has resolved both the iphone and ipad problem immediately. I am concerned that I may have a problem with apps that I bought under my old AppleID as they will not be recognised. Any suggestions for this please?

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud. The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

My ipad does not communicate with my iphone on one of my email accounts and will not remove deleted emails that are done on the iphone and vice versa, what setting needs to be changed?
It's my understanding that an iPhone can only sync with one computer. You need to choose one computer. Sounds like it syncs at work, but not at home. If you want to just sync it at home, then you have to make sure the home computer has all the info that you want on it, like music etc. Then you have to deauthorize the work computer for it to sync at home. When you connect it will ask if you want to set up as a new iPhone or restore from backup. If you don't have a backup on the home computer then either way you will be wiped clean. So any photos, contacts, notes etc you have will be erased. You would need to backup or copy your photos from your iPhone. When you connect it to your home computer, it will give you that popup message to open your iPhone files. Then you can copy those photos and save them onto your computer and sync them back in through iTunes.
For your contacts, do you use any type of address book? If so you'll want to back that up and then transfer to your home computer. For notes, you can just email those to yourself and then save that email. I use MobileMe so the contacts issue is easily resolved. -
