My iPhone 5s isn't being recognized as a device on itunes

I already tried to disconnect and connect my iPhone to my laptop. I also reinstalled iTunes to the conputer. Looking at my iPhone screen, it says it's connected, and the files for the internal storage show up on my computer, but when iTunes is open it doesn't show up. Help is appreciated.
***My laptop uses Windows 8

Yes, both have been updated to the latest available updates and there is no sign of connection between the two

  • IPhone 4s isn't being recognized by iTunes.

I've read pages upon pages trying to fix this. Bought a new cord. Didn't work. Restarted my phone. Didn't work. Reinstalled iTunes. Didn't work. Erased my phone. Still didn't work. Tried unplugging the usb cord numerous times. Didn't work. Restarted the computer. Didn't work. I'm about ready to throw my phone yet again.

You're in luck because i just ran into this issue and fixed it.
For some silly reason your apple iphone device driver gets moved under device manager and itunes can't see your phone as a result.
    To fix the issue:
on your keyboard: windows key + pause/break key.  Then select Device Manager on the left of the window.
If you expand Universal Serial Bus controllers you will likely not see "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" listed.
You'll have to do some poking around, because it will be under one of the other headers... found mine under "Portable Devices", but yours could literally be under any of them.
Once you find "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver", right-click and select uninstall.  Follow prompts to uninstall.
Then right-click "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and select scan for hardware changes.  Your PC will then install it to the proper location and iTunes will be able to see your iphone and sync.
Dunno why it does this, but it does.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers!

  • IPhone 5 isn't being recognized by iTunes.

iOS/os/iTunes all up to date. I plug in through lightening and I get no Sounds to indicate connection and my device doesn't pop up in iTunes. However, I plugged my iPad into our iMac (same computer I tried the 5 on) and it works just fine.

  • Ipod isn't being recognized by my pc or itunes.

For some reason (probobly something stupid I did) my ipod is telling me to connect to itunes to restore, however when i connect my ipod to my computer itunes doesn't say it has connected and my pc says that it isn't connected in any of the usb ports. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and resetting my ipod, but my pc/itunes says that the ipod is not connected. The ipod however says it is and still charges and comes up with a white do not disconnect screen.

There are too many plausible suggestions, refer to this Apple Support Article on
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
But do the Disk Diagnostic first, as posted by tt2, it will help us in troubleshooting.

  • New IPod Touch 4th Gen isn't being recognized by my computer or itunes.

I got a new IPod Touch yesterday and I am finally getting the time to sit down and set everything up and when I plugged it in it makes the charging sound but itunes is not finding it and neither is my computer. I've been messing with it for hours now and at one point my computer thought the IPod was a camera. I've tried updating itunes to the newest version, uninstaling/reinstaling the drivers, even tried updating the IPod to iOS 6 thinking that might help but still nothing. What am I missing?
