P.S. I have not taken any backup of my iPhone on itunes..

Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.

If iCloud Backup is set to Off in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, it means that your iPod will not automatically back up to iCloud, but will automatically back up to your computer when you sync. The only way you would risk losing data is if you have never synced with iTunes before. If that's the case, you have to take special precautions to avoid losing data, as outlined in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

IPhone freezes, stuck on Apple logo

Hi all,
I realize this question has been posed yet I've been unable to find any answers to my specific case. I'll try to be as detailed as possible.
A few days ago, I was texting someone and wanted to send a video. I loaded up my photo album from within the text, and at the same time that it was loading, I received a text alert as well as an alert from an app. This caused my phone to have a heart attack of some sort and it completely froze. I let it sit for awhile and it did nothing, so I did a soft reset (home button + lock button). The reset did work, however my phone never left the apple logo. After working all day and night to find a way to resolve without having to restore, I finally gave in and did a restore.
It's now 3 days later. My phone was working fine, albeit a bit laggy ever since, and I had it in my pocket throughout lunch. I finished lunch, fished my phone out of my pocket, and my screen was on and stuck with the notification center queued up. Again, couldn't do anything on the phone, did the soft reset again. Same issue: stuck on the Apple logo. (sidenote: my phone just gave me the blue screen while plugged into the computer). This is the FOURTH (count 'em!) replacement iPhone 5s I've gotten from the Apple store since July. They just love giving me the lemons.
Here are my questions:
1) Why is it doing this? I am running iOS 8.0.2, and have been since the update came out. This did not occur during an update or restore. Does this sound like a hardware or software problem?
2) Is there any possible way to kick it off the Apple logo WITHOUT recovery mode + restore? My phone never actually goes into recovery mode, I have to force it to, if I want it to.
3) What programs can recover data that was not backed up? No solicitors please.

If it is longer available then you can't get the app on your phone.

Settings >> Mail, Contacts. Calendars >> Organise by Thread. Switch to OFF to see every individual email in the Inbox.

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S. Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.

No.
If the iPhone is running iOS 7, activation lock included with iOS 7 will prevent someone from restoring the iPhone or completing the process.
If the iPhone can be restored, it cannot be restored from the iPhone's backup - only as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
