My iphone 5s won't show up in itunes after the 11.1.4 update. How do I connect it so I can sync music again?

It's been about three weeks since I was able to connect my phone to itunes. When I connect my phone to my computer, it will show up on the desktop, and I can sync my photos, but itunes doesn't recognize it. I've tried removing and downloading itunes three times, and have restarted my phone and nothing's changed. I know there's nothing wrong with the usb cable or my phone. I'm pretty confindent that it has something to do with the 11.1.4 update. Does anybody know how this can be fixed?

Hello macr888,
I would be concerned as well if my iPhone was not recognized by iTunes.  Thank you for providing all the information with the steps you took in regards to this issue.  I found an article with a few more steps you can take (you can skip the steps you have already taken):

  • My iphone 4 won't show up in iTunes after installing snow leopard

My iPhone 4 won't show up after snow leopard has been installed. I just updated iTunes to 10.5.3 (3). the Macbook pro does recognize the device in iPhoto and I can sync the photos. But no connection is made with iTunes. I've read something about it on the support forums, but I'm not sure what to do for fear of losing data either on my phone or on iTunes. Can you help?
    Thanks

  • My iPhone 5S won't show up in iTunes to sync. It charges still and it opens iPhoto, but doesn't even register in iTunes

My iPhone 5S won't show up in iTunes to sync. It charges still and it opens iPhoto, but doesn't even register in iTunes. I have no idea what to do and nothing is working!
And the other night while i was trying to sync my phone, it was working until "Error message (-50)" started coming up every time i tried to sync or update my phone's software through itunes on my computer. eventually, itunes quit and i unplugged my phone and updated it wirelessly. i have no idea why any of this is happenings. Itunes is still acting weird for me too.

Error -50 is generally associated with firewalls or anti-virus software as described here:

Separately, are you using iTunes 11.1.4?

I updated iTunes on my laptop to 11.1.4 and now my iPhone 4S won't show up in iTunes.  I have WIndows 8.  My iPhone shows up there, just not in iTUnes as a device.

    Windows 8.1, 64bit
It appears that the 64bit install messed up the device drivers for the Apple mobilie devices connecting as USB.
I tried many things, I may have missed a step below.  But the following is what I believe was the fix - since it worked on a 2nd PC.
Make sure you are using an administrator account.  Any of them on your machine will do for the following
    a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
        - disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
        - connect your USB device
        - if ITunes loads, close it.
    b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
    Select Install.  It's very quick.
    remove the USB device
    c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.

  • IPhone 5s won't show up in iTunes

I bought an iPhone 5s today and after it was fully activated and working, tried to hook it up to my computer. It said my itunes had to update, however it wouldn't update so I uninstalled itunes and downloaded it off of apple's site. This time it downloaded and when I checked itunes for updates, it said it was at 11.1.5 and current. However, when I plug my phone in, it won't show up in itunes. It registers on the computer and the phone asks me if I want to trust this computer, to which I answer yes.
I've tried checking the apple mobile support and stopping and starting it again along with anything else to do with the mobile. I've tried reinstalling, restarting and pretty much everything I can think of.
My computer is a fully updated, windows 8.1 HP

  • IPhone 4 won't show up in iTunes

    Hi All,
I recently bought an iPhone 4, but had to upgrade to Snow Leopard in order to download the new iTunes. It has been a long process just to use my iPhone. However, I still HAVE NOT USED IT Now when I try to plug in my iPhone 4 and connect to iTunes I was able to activate it the first time, but now it won't show up in itunes at all.I have already tried the suggestion tips through the apple document (i.e., uninstall iTunes, reinstall), but this is not working.
So I tried to restore my iPhone but I keep on getting an error message saying that "iPhone could not be restored an unkown error occurred 1611". Now everytime I plug in my iPhone I get a message saying that "detected an iphone in recovery mode, you must restore this iPhone"-BUT I CAN'T b/c I get the error message above!
Please hlep me I am so frustrated at this point!

For future reference, I was able to get my iPhone to show up in my iTunes by clicking on the apple icon-->about this mac--> then software update. Seem to have done the trick!

  • IPhone 6 won't show up in Itunes on MacBook

I bought an iPhone 6 today.  I have an old MacBook (circa 2008) running OS X 10.6.8 and Itunes 11.0.2.
I synched my iPhone 4 and backed up the photos in iPhoto.
When I plug in my iPhone 6, the first couple of times it said that I need to unlock the device.  I did that, but then it said something like "don't recognize the device"
After the 2nd or 3rd time, it simply stopped even showing this message and the iPhone 6 won't register at all.  I don't have any other devices that I synched with Itunes.
Any ideas?  Other discussions I saw didn't provide a resolution that appear to be appropriate.
    Thanks.

    Get iTunes 12.
    Load it from:

    Hi,
What you need to do is delete everything associated with ITunes.
    Go To
Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program>Type in the search bar (Upper right hand corner) Apple>Everything accociated with itunes should pop up>Delete all of those>Reinstall Itunes 11.1.5
    Hope This Works,

  • IPhone 3G won't show up in iTunes but does in System Profiler

So early today, when I was clicking check for updates every half hour like everyone else waiting for 3.0 to go live I had this crop up. I had quit iTunes, unplugged the iPhone (2.2.1) and when I plugged it in.. nothing.. didn't even get the chirp from the iPhone showing it was charging, it won't auto-launch iTunes and if Itunes is open it won't chow up.
    - Tried a original iPhone cord and same thing,
    - used a Apple wall charger and the phone chirped and showed it was charging
    - restarted the Mac Pro and the iPhone, still nothing
    - took the original cord and phone (still v2.2.1) to a iMac in another room and it worked perfectly.
    - used the iMac to update to iPhone 3.0 software
    - went back to the Mac Pro and it charges now, shows up in System Profiler, nothing else
Latest version of all the software, including 2.2.1 (and then 3.0) on the iPhone. All the updates on the Mac Pro.
Hints short of nuking my iTunes completely (and all my rankings, etc in my music)?

Oh, one more thing, I have reset PRAM if that matters.

  • Iphone won't show up in itunes after installing latest itunes update

I just installed the latest version of iTunes.  Now it won't recognize my iPhone 4.  It shows up as a camera on my computer (Windows XP Pro) but no matter what I do, I can't get iTunes to see the iPhone.  Any ideas?
    thanks.

I'm not that familiar with Windows, but can you create another User account and run your Nexus Service software from there?

  • IPhone 4 won't show up in iTunes - can't sync

Spent the day yesterday talking with several Apple technical advisors and still can't solve this seemingly easy fix.
I restored Windows 7 to earlier state and lost iTunes. I reinstalled but iTunes will not recognize my iPhone. I've done everything that is available to fix but no one can help. One time, it did recognize my iPhone but wouldn't sync. Then the iPhone disappeared from iTunes. My iPhone is recognized at the Apple store and on my son's PC. Just not on mine. I am beyond frustrated.
Is iTunes just not a decent Windows app? Is it really this amateurish?

Jymn I am having the same problem with my new iphone 4 and Windows XP, and have tried all the troubleshooting options I've seen, mainly involving alot of removing and reinstalling of software.
If anyone has a solution please let me know. I am beginning to regret ever buying my iphone. As I don't own any MP3 player I had hoped to be able to use it to listen to music. Not much use if it won't communicate with my computer (and therefore my entire CD collection). So frustrating!
