My iPhone 6 was hacked
Last week I started receiving a lot >50 irate texts from a 503 area code on my iPhone 6. I assumed it was spam and blocked the numbers. i called mt provider who wasn't very helpful and told me I could change my number. Almost exactly one week later the same thing happened but from 2 different area codes. I even had people trying to FaceTime me. Long story short, it turned out that my phone had been sending out hundreds of texts in a 3 hour window to those area codes. I have no record of them on my phone. But they show up on my Verizon log as have being sent. I deleted all none crucial apps and restored my phone. I will see if this helps. Any other thoughts or advice?
Hi deggie,
I agree, the first thing I thought of was that my verizon account was the issue. When I asked about that possibility with their senior tech support they said that the messages were originating from the phone. They no longer have a web based text service (as compared with other groups like Sprint). The only apps I have uploaded were from the App store - I didn't know you could even get apps for the iphone from other sources. Do you think things are OK now that I did the reset and changed every password and security question in both my Apple and Verizon accounts?
Thanks again for your thoughts. It has been a pretty miserable experience.

I had even restored my iPhone before this happened and the messages were still retrieved.
I think you have serious issues here. It's not your iPhone only that was hacked but your iCloud and Keychain too.
iCloud hack is where the danger comes from to you.
You need to fix your iCloud issues by changing the password. Delete your whole key chain and generate new passwords using Safari, they are hard to crack.
The weakest link in using key chain is the passcode on your device followed by the password to access key chain. These two basically give access to your data saved in the cloud.
I strongly suggest that you speak to Apple about this, they are helpful and they take security seriously. -
Am I just being paranoid or is it possible my iPhone was hacked?
I have recieved strange SMS messages in the past, and researching things from the internet, I learned that these can be attempts to intrude on your device. These strange messages were from an email address that seemed to be comprised of random characters ([email protected] or something similar) and the text completely blank.
Also, I noticed that my Facetime app is open and running in the background at times when I haven't opened it myself and haven't recieved a call. I'm starting to get worried, is it possible that my phone has been hacked into? Note: I am using an iPhone 4 running iOS7.Unless you have given someone access to your iPhone for at least 30 minutes so they would have time to jailbreak it you have not been hacked.
Facetime does not run in the background but it will appear in the recently used list. -
Hi,
My ICloud was hacked. So I updated my password and now have my Iphone and the Icloud online email working. Yet the email set up on my Macbook Pro still will not work and I ran through the troubleshooting. It has ICloud IMAP. Can someone please help me with this?
Thank you.First, a caution: Do not retry passwords. Trying random passwords or wrong passwords more than (usually) twice, and that'll usually trip evasion, and you'll get blocked even with the right passwords. If you've retried random passwords, you'll have to let things "cool off" for a while, and try again later.
Open up the details drawer in the Mail.app Connection Doctor troubleshooting, and re-run the connection tests. Expurgate anything sensitive from the diagnostics, and post the iCloud-related errors here.
Alternatively, remove the iCloud account from the accounts listed within Mail.app. Re-add it. See if that clears the issue.
Alternatively and if the other options here fail, contact Apple iCloud support directly and request assistance. -
Why can't I send an email from my iPhone or iPad since I changed my password because my email account was hacked?
Hi Teresazubi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're not able to send from an iCloud email address on your iPhone, be sure to follow these troubleshooting steps from the article above (iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail):
Make sure that Mail is turned on in Settings > iCloud.
Make sure that Push is turned on for your device in Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Fetch New Data. Then send an email to your account to verify that Push is working correctly.
Make sure that Push is turned on for your iCloud account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Fetch New Data. If you're using iOS 6, tap Advanced. Then Tap your iCloud account and make sure that Push is turned on. If you have multiple iCloud Mail accounts set up on your device, Push can be used only withone account at a time. Make sure that Push is turned on for your primary iCloud Mail account.
Turn your device off and back on.
If the issue persists, turn off each of the settings in steps 4, 5, and 6 above, then turn them back on. If that does not help, follow these instructions to delete the iCloud account from your device, then add the account back:
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
Tap your iCloud account.
Tap Delete Account. If you store Contacts, Calendar, or Bookmarks data in iCloud, you will be given the option to keep that data.
On the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars screen, tap Add Account, then tap iCloud to begin setting up your iCloud account again. If data from your device is stored in iCloud, you will be given the option to merge that data with the data on your device.
If you have an email account from a different provider, see the troubleshooting at this link:

This morning my iPhone was stolen from me, I immediately called it and it had been turned off. So, I went right home to activate the Find My iPhone app on the website so it would call my other contact number. Then going to my AT&T store I was told to go home and submit an insurance claim. Later this evening, I tried to access my iCloud account and I couldn't. Finally, I found an series of emails from Apple at 5:15pm and on verifying my Find My iPhone activation had been disabled and that my iCloud ID had been changed to *********. I don't know who the heck this person is, but they've managed to deactivate the Find feature and hack my iCloud ID email address. How can this happen? How do I get Apple and Gmail to prosecute this person? I still don't know the full extent of what has been hacked into. Does anyone have any helpful insight? Thanks
<E-mail Edited by Host>In terms of your account the best thing to do would be to change the password.
Also just letting you know that you aren't talking to Apple, the people here are Apple product users like yourself. If you wish to speak with Apple follow the link below and call the number for your country:

my aunt got my cousin a new iphone, so she gave me my cousin's old iphone. I reset the the phone she gave me so i can set it up for my own use now. The problem is that i need the account of my cousin in order to activate the phone, the bad news is that her account was hacked. Is there any other way that i can activate this account and put it on my list of devices? So that if i want to reset it, i'll just use my account to activate it.
P.S.
i Do have a proof that this phone was given to me by my aunt and she is the one who bought it for my cousin.Your cousin needs to contact Apple and ask to speak to someone in account security to get the Apple ID back under his/her control.
If your aunt has original proof of purchase for the phone, she can bring that, along with the phone, to an Apple store or call Apple and they may be able to assist.

My Facebook was hacked and as I only access it through my iPhone 4 or my iPad is there any other security measures I can take to prevent this happening. I have the latest software updates.
Facebook security is handled by Facebook, not the phone or Apple. Contact them.

My original apple id email was hacked. how can i change my apple id for my iphone 4. im able to change it for the pc and my ipad but cannot chonge it for the phone
I had the same problem last month.
The only fix was to call Apple Support. Basically, the history of the account could be followed and the hacker had changed the email address and no doubt the password of my apple id. The account also showed purchases in £ so I suspect the associated country been changed as well? Apple support blocked his associated credit card, restored the account back to a date where I had last used it and we then changed the Apple ID to a new email address. I could have used the old Apple ID, effectively regaining control of it, but I wasn't attached to it and it enhanced security by changing it.
Scared myself last night as my daughetrs iphone had been associated with the old ID and she couldn't access the icloud acocunt. I'd manged to restore her iphone, although it was asking for the passowrd of the hacked Apple ID, I used the password for the 'new' ID (just the old one with a changed email) and it worked. Even after restoring the iphone, I still had to change my 'new' apple id back to the 'old' email so she could sign out of the 'old' icloud account on her phone after the restore and disable 'find my iphone'. Only then could she add her own personal icloud account and I changed my apple id back to the new email. Confused?
Point is, you will need apple support to regain control of your apple id. If you're not attched to it and want a new or modified apple id, make sure you sign out of all assoicted devices first! -
