My IPhone 6 with AT&T is dropping 5-10 calls a day. Calling from same location as my 5S which never had dropped calls. Is this a hardware or software issue?
My IPhone 6 128GB with current software using AT&T is dropping 5-10 calls a day. I am calling from an office with good signal strength and in the same location as i did with my 5S which almost never had dropped calls. Is this a hardware or software issue? Is this a common issue with the new IPhones?
Hi jackneedshelp,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If calls are not going through on your iPhone 6, I recommend going through the troubleshooting method found at this link:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls - Apple Support
These steps can help identify and resolve the symptom that might be causing the connection issue.
All the best,
Jeremy

usually i back my IPhone with ICloud, after installing IOS 5 it asked me to restore from ITunes what i have to do to restore all my contact, applications and others?
If your iPhone does not search for a wi-fi connection before you are asked whether you want to set it up as new phone or restore a backup from iTunes, then I guess you have the same issue as highlighted in this thread:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/19638850?ac_cid=tw123456#19638850
iCloud back ups can only be accessed via wi-fi that's why you are not granted this option, I have the exact same issue. -
I'm having trouble with my new iPhone.it seems it likes to turn it self off for no reason at all.i would like to know is this a hardware or software problem or just a iPhone problem i don't know.
basic troubleshooting steps from the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.
Have ANY of these been tried? -
Had same problem with 10.7. I've followed all the suggestions I can find, restored my computer many times, cleaned the registry... this is the worst software install I've ever seen!
I kept getting the reminder to update itunes 11.1.4 on my Windows 7 laptop. I now forget the error message other than it would stop and say something that itunes has stopped working and to do a manual d/l from itunes. That did not work either.
The suggestion to remove the Apple Software Updater from my programs solved this problem. -
When I attempt to upload from a CD I get a box with a red X that says new itunes library. What do I have to do to correct this? I have never had a problem doing this.
Hey the1stpotada,
I would take a look at the recommended steps in this article and run through them to see if they help resolve the issue. Some of the steps may be slightly different depending on what operating system you're using:
iTunes for Windows XP: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes

HT4528 3G Dropping out. Hardware or Software issue?
I've experienced short periods (between 2 and 7 minutes) where the 3G on my 4S drops out, is this a hardware or software problem. I've restored already and it still happens.
At this point, it's hard to say, but I'm not inclined to think hardware.
Have you tried a SMC reset?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411?viewlocale=en_US
This might be relevant for the Mac not going to sleep.
Have you verified the disk and repaired if necessary?
Have you tried resetting the PRAM?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US
You might also try the steps in this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
My recollection--which may or may not be right--is that repairing the disk may cure the spotlighting problem. The other steps I mentioned are just general things that are often done when troubleshooting.
Try repairing the hard drive, and post back if that doesn't cure the problem.
Good luck! -
IPhone 5 Hardware or Software issue?
My iPhone 5 is just under a year old. Just recently I noticed that when I put the phone in silent/vibrate mode and then switch it back it doesn't revert back to normal.
I am thinking the swith may not be working properly but I can turn it off and turn it back on and it works properly.
I can't trace it back to the most recent software upgrade but it is possible that is the culprit.
Is ths a hardware or software issue? If a reset and then if required a restore do not fix it likely a hardware issue

After updating to IOS 5 on an iPhone 4 can no longer get wifi in my home and phone signal is terrible and drops out taking up to 10 mins to re-appear... anyone else having these sort of problems??
I am having similar problems on my new iPhone 4S
My mac gets good wifi connection in the same location. I measured the signal strength -- something like -77db signal vs. -90db noise.
But my iPhone WiFi keeps cutting in and out. In fact, I left my phone on last night to update various apps over WiFi. When I checked it this a.m. I had received several warning messages from AT&T that I was nearing my 3G data limit. I looked at my phone and it had consumed nearly 100mb of cellular data overnight, when it should have been connected over WiFi.
Needless to say, it's taken some of the thrill away from my new iPhone... -
When audio breaks up on iPhone 5, is that a hardware or software issue?
My phone: iPhone 5
My carrier: Sprint
Hardware or Software? Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
PaulI do not believe Sprint is the cause for this reason:
1. The audio breaks up with 5 bars and LTE just as if the signal was weak.
2. I have seven (count em) phones on my Sprint account, and my phone is the only one breaking up.
3. I activated a back-up phone (not an iPhone) with my number, and the problem whent away.
I took my phone to an Apple Store where they blew dust out and told me to contact Sprint, which I did.
PS: I've been a satisfied customer of Sprint for 20 years. Never have I had a problem like this. -
tried to download latest I-Tunes 11.1.4 update but got the message re " Apple Mobile Device failed to start etc. Seems I am not the only one with this problem but getting frustrated as I have tried all the suggestions and now have no Itunes but plenty of money still on it. Why won't Apple admit they have a problem and fix it. There is no where to complain to them online. Help please
Hello PaulHeartattack,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
2. Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled
3. Reinstall iTunes and related components
If the Apple Mobile Device Service still will not start, this could be caused by third-party security software. Please follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Best of luck,

Is no sound on calls Iphone 4s hardware or software issue?
Keep having problems making and receiving call. No sound coming from my caller or, sound coming from them but they can't hear me. It is driving me insane. Is this a problem that can be resolved with an update or do I have to get new phone?
If a reset and then if required a restore do not fix it likely a hardware issue

My battery is draining! Hardware or software issue? iphone 4s ios 5.1.1
My iphone 4s battery is draining. I have turned off all push notifications for email and the like. I have no apps running in the background and yet after 10 hours of idle time i go into settings and my phone reports "9 hours 45 minutes of standby" time and "9 hours and 15 minutes of actual usage" time (during the same interval). I restored my phone via itunes twice starting as new iphone (I.E. having to re-download everything manually WITHOUT the starting from backup). I went to the apple store and they told me to just restart it however this has not been effective. IS THIS A HARDWARE ISSUE OR A SOFTWARE ISSUE?????
Oh Yeah i just check it!

Maybe you should get new friends.
I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.
iCloud: Erase your device - Apple Support
This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone. -
MMy wife had bought an iPad from a friend. My wife already has an iPhone, which is registered to iCloud. She cannot acces iCloud from the new iPad. It says her username and password is not authorised. What do we need to do.
This could be a couple different things.
The device is not authorized to the Apple ID.
Continue setup for the ID on the device.
There is an account issue
Is she able to get signed in at

Can she get signed in at

How many devices are registered to that Apple ID?
