My iphone 6 won't unmute without restarting phone

When I use the mute button on my iPhone 6, and then un-mute it, the sounds and alerts stay muted. I have to restart my phone

Hi vin5301,
I understand that you are seeing some issues with your iPhone 6 when attempting to go from muted to un-muted. In order to troubleshoot this issue further, I would like to suggest that you restore the software on your iPhone to see if the issue is resolved by this action. • Synchs iphone but won't restore without password

itunes synchs with iphone but won't restore without password to unlock iphone backup files. Have tried every password I know, including the one revealed in keychains, and numeric values such as 0000, etc. to no avail. Have checked other forums and all offer possible solutions such as deleting files from itune restarting and upgrading, jailbreaking and various other terms which I do not understand...all sound iffy and possibly precarious, at best since they are not apple supported forums and some users report success using such methods but others do not. This is an apple issue and should be addressed by apple. How can I discover the wanted password and restore function to my phone, avoid this happening again with future updates, and not have to waste 3 days of my life to recover from an apple generated issue?

Of course not.  Otherwise, why even bother to have a password?

  • Safari won't open without restart after installing Yosemite

After I installed Yosemite, safari won't open from sleep mode without me restarting my computer.  Should I or can I uninstall Yosemite and reinstall or is there another fix?  Thank You for any help.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. This step shouldn't be necessary, but has been advised by Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a workaround for a bug. Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences. If applicable, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. Enter your administrator login password when prompted.
Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked
              Wake for Wi-Fi network access
    and
              Enable Power Nap...
if present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the Battery tab and uncheck
              Enable Power Nap...
    11. Reinstall OS X.

  • MacBook Pro (2011) Won't Charge Without Restart

Hi guys, I searched the forums for this problem but couldn't find a match. When I plug the power cable into my 2011 17" MacBook Pro it won't take a charge and the light on the cable doesn't come on. However if I restart the computer, the light will come on and it will start charging. This sounds like a software issue to me and I haven't had the problem until recently so I'm guessing it's caused by the latest OS X update. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue and found a fix?

  • Spotlight won't work without restarting MBPr

    Greetings,
I just picked up my new 13" MBPr a couple of weeks ago. I love it, but I am finding that after one use, Spotlight won't bring up the search function unless I restart the computer. This surprised me as I've had macs for over a decade and have never run into issues like this. I also found that while trying to post this message using Safari, the field for writing this message would not display a cursor (or any of the text editing options like font size/style) so I am using an alternative broswer.
I've seen a few posts about Mavericks mucking up Spotlight functions before, so should I chalk the search issue up to that or is there something else to investigate?
    Thanks!

    Hi there Mia C.,
You may want to try reindexing Spotlight as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • IPhone 6 won't work without wifi

My brothers and dad's phone still works fine but I don't get how come mine doesn't. I updated my phone to the iOS 8.1 after two weeks I got it and then I updated it to the iOS 8.2 two weeks ago to see if it will work fine again but it didn't. • IPhone 4 won't turn on/restart

My iPhone 4 will not turn on, will not reset. Battery is not dead. When I plug it into my laptop, the phone screen brings up the Apple logo for about 5 seconds then disappears and then the process repeats itself. Phone does not appear in iTunes and continues the restart process indefinitely. When plugged into the wall it will start and the screen says to plug it into iTunes.
    Any thoughts? Help?

My phone did this tonight and I was frantic.  Saw the original post and PaulCB's response and was so excited that it might be an easy fix.  I was able to get the phone to go through most of the restore process, but as it was extracting the sofrtware at the end, i received Errror Message 21 that stated the phone could not be restored.  When I looked on Apple's site re: the error message it said it could have something to do with 3rd part security software or the phone's hardware.  Any thoughts on that?

  • Texts get "stuck" and won't send without restart. Help.

I have had my S4 for just about 12 months. Over the last 2-3 months I have been having a horrible time sending texts. It is not related to the strength of my signal because it happens EVERYWHERE. In order to send a text that is "stuck", I have to restart my phone and resend my text. I am running on the most current software. Any advice?

Its a software bug with the kitkat update, its easier just to enable airplane mode then disable it

  • My iphone 5s won't restore after my phone cut off during an automatic download of ios 8.

A call dropped while talking on the phone. From that point on I was unable to use the phone, internet, voicemail, etc.  All other functions and programs were still working, email (through airwatch), texting, calendar, contacts, etc.  At the time ios 8 was downloading.  After download, through my computer ( without the computer it was giving me a download time of 16 hours) completed I was unable to install the the update and still lacked phone capability.  I restarted and still nothing.  I backed up the phone to I tunes, at which point ios 8 was then installed to itunes on my computer and have since been unable to restore the iphone.
My phone just finished trying to restore again.  It ran through all of the motions of veryfing with apple, restoring the phone, verifying the restore, extracting files, and then quit on the final firmware phase with an error message that reads: The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3).  The first time it failed it recognized the phone name but now shows up with "iphone" as the name and does not even list the serial number.
    Any suggestions? Thank You.

Is your old backup still listed in iTunes/Preferences/Devices?

  • Can't retrieve voicemail without restarting phone

For several months I have been dealing with a real nuisance and wondering if anyone else is, as well.  Whenever I get a voicemail, before I can retrieve it, I have to turn my phone off and on.  It will allow me to listen to multiple messages but once I leave the VM system, in order to listen to them again I have to restart the phone.  I absolutely HATE this phone and am just waiting until December when I'm eligible for an upgrade.  This is just one of many problems I've had with it.  I didn't want to go with an i-phone, but seeing my daughter have no problems like I have has convinced me that it is the superior device.

        Hi there Shytel!
Wow! That is the strangest way to access Voicemail I've ever heard of! I am so sorry you've been having to do this for so long.
Before you actually reboot your phone, when you try to access voicemail, what happens exactly? Are you dialing *86-send manually or are you trying to access the Voicemail when you get the notification at the top of the phone?
I'd love to figure this out together! Let me know!
    Thanks,

  • Iphone 5c won't sync with library; phone says "no content"

I had a small library of music on my 1-month-old  iPhone5c.   I  wanted to load an itunes University lecture onto the phone, and went to itunes on my computer, and connected the phone.   It asked me if I wanted to update it,  which it did,  and somehow wiped out all the content under the Music icon.   It says "no content" and gives me a link to the iTunes store.
So I  go back to my iTunes library on the computer, which has a bunch of albums, etc.   And I click on the phone button and press Sync.  And it said "Updating Pat's phone (step 2 of 4)" and then stops.  But there's still no content showing on the phone, at least at the Music icon.  Is there another place to find it?
I have updated iTunes and don't have any idea about what else to do.     Apple Mobile Device Support is in the list of installed programs on the computer (installed in September).
Help!  I don't need to restore what was on the phone; I just need to be able to load my music again (without having to buy it through iTunes).

I got it back -- I couldn't tell you exactly what I did, but I found something to click on .

After installing the new IOS my iphone 4s won't charge and less I restart it. Why is appl this happening? and What is apple doing about this?

The iPhone has a hardware problem - with the battery or something else.
The iPhone includes a one year warranty. If purchased new in October of 2012, it remains under warranty. Call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.
