My iPHONE added a  1 to all existing messages. So none my contacts are linked in my messages or in recent contacts??

If you are a Verizon user, try this:
Open the phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating "Settings updated."
Double tap the Home button to bring up the recently used apps list at the bottom.  Locate the Phone, Message, and Contacts apps, swiping if necessary, and press and hold until they jiggle then press the red minus sign to stop them.
Wait a 3-5 minutes.
Open the Message App to see if they're fixed.

Mac HD says 2.49.72GB and 151.88 used??
That's impossible. I think you mean to say that your HD capacity is 249.72 GB, and you've used 151.88 GB. You do have enough free space, so that means something else is going on to cause this problem.
Aside from setting up the Gmail account(s), did you install or update anything just prior to this problem starting? If so, what were those items?
I didn't mention any extension, so I'm assuming you're referring to seventy one's mention of TM (Time Machine). That is a built-in backup method that you can choose to take advantage of, but I would not do it, since it's not all it's cracked up to be. What you need is to setup and maintain every day a bootable backup of your entire hard drive. You can do that with SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. You don't need an Airport device for these, nor Time Machine; in fact, I would shy away from using wireless for such things, as it's often more of a problem than a benefit.
Also, there may be problems with your hard drive, so I would boot your Mac from the install disc, choose your language, then wait about 15 seconds for the menu bar at the top to appear and choose Utilities->Disk Utility and Repair Disk. If it comes back with any errors that can't be fixed, post them in your reply. But if not, then run Repair Permissions, and all you need to concern yourself with is the message at the end that 'Permission repair completed'; ignore anything else as long as you see that message.
Then reboot your system and restart Mail and setup your account(s) again (assuming it's not there because you deleted the IMAP mail folder and the Envelope Index file. In the future, don't throw things away unless you know the consequences of doing so; you'll end up being unfortunately surprised when you lose critical information.

My iPhone 4 has just deleted all my messages & won't let me receive or send texts?

There is no way possible for your iphone to delete message by itself.
If your having issue with text - contact your cell phone provider as texting is a carrier feature.

  • New iPhone 4S doesn't sync all SMS messages

I got the new iPhone 4S yesterday and I immediately moved over my SIM card from my old iPhone 4 onto there. I synched everything including messages, notes, calendars, emails and such fine, except it only synced to October 13. It's November 8 as of now and I have a feeling it's because that was the day I could have updated my phone to the new iOS? Or it was the last time I backed it up onto my computer? I have no idea. I've tried wiping my phone over and over again to get the missing texts. But it's not working. Is there some way I can transfer the existing data on my old phone onto my new phone?

In the case of an iPhone 4S, no; click here.
In the case of an iPhone 5, yes.

  • I just updated my iphone with iOS 5 and all my photos in my Camera Roll are gone. What gives...

I just update my iphone with the new iOS 5 and all my photos in my Camera Roll have disappeared. I did use iTunes for the upgrade. Are the photos in another place?

If you have failed to make sure that any apps purchased on the iphone were transferred to your computer before updating, then you will have to redownload.
Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

  • I accidentally pushed the allow button after upgrading my husbands phone! Now he gets all my messages too! Help! How do I change this?

Help! I accidentally pushed "allow " after upgrading my husbands  iPhone . Now he gets all my messages! How do I un- do this?!

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".  Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

  • Getting "object already exists" message when trying to install new software.

Quite coincidentally, I came across a solution for the "object already exists" message that had recently been interferring with the downloading of new software.  This solution was offered by another on a different website, but it has solved my problem.
My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.
The Windows Security Update  KB2918614 seems to be wreaking havoc with some systems.  It did so with mine.
After removing this particular update, I am now able to install software (was actually just trying to reinstall my HP printer software as I am having another issue with it).
Don't know if this will help anyone else, but it worked for me.

To rid myself of the "object already exists" issues due to the Windows Security Update KB2918614 . . . I have learned that an additional step must be taken to keep Windows Updates from automatically reinstalling this update . . . once again, preventing installation of software.
One needs to hide the update to prevent Window Updater from reinstalling.
    Taken from the Windows community:
Marilyn - Support Engineer replied on December 9, 2008
The update in question can be hidden, which will prevent this update from downloading and installing.
    To hide this update:
           Open Control Panel
           Open Security
           Select ‘Windows Update
Select the option View Available Updates in the upper left hand corner
Locate the update in question, right click and select ‘Hide Update’
    Thanks
Once again, my operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate and this particular update was causing difficulty for my specific operating system.

My drive failed on my iMac and I had to get a new drive but now my iTunes music is gone including all the CD's I added to iTunes, and all of my custom Playlists. All of that stuff is still on my iPhone 4, but how do I get it all onto my iMac again? I have CD's on my phone that i no longer have the physical copies of so i can't just re-download them all, plus it would take forever! I just want to know if there is a way to get all of what is still on my phone, back over to my iMac with it's new drive and restore my full iTunes library to the iMac with playlists, CD downloaded music, and my iTunes bought stuff, so i can go back to synching the 2 devices without losing everything that's on my phone that used to be on both devices?

  • I previoulsy have adding many CD to my iTunes music library and then synched them with my iPhone so that I have all music in both places. And I could the CDs in iTunes or iPhone with no problems. Recently, my iTunes "sees" the music but won't play it. Why

I have added many CD to my iTunes music library and then synched them with my iPhone so that I have all music in both places. Then I could the play them in iTunes or iPhone with no problems. Recently, my iTunes "sees" the music library but won't play any of it becuase "the original could not be found". If I attach my iPhone, then it pays them through the iPhone, but still not through the library in iTunes. How can I get the music library on my iPhone to transfer (i.e. restore it) to iTunes? I have iPhone 4S but have not upgraded to the iOS 6, and have not had any problems until last week.  Help!  Thanks.

Check the manual for whatever backup program you used, or, if you just copied the files over, copy them that.

  • Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone "My iPhone" will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. HELP!

Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone “My iPhone” will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. I really don't want to loose my music. HELP!!!

From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both.  If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time.  Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.
    I hope this helps!

  • Disable Notes app emails while saving all existing notes on iPhone

I want to disable my Notes app from sending all updates to my Gmail account. I realize this can be done through Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Gmail > Notes (slide to OFF). However, previous comments on this site say that all existing notes will be erased from my phone once I do this.
How can I disable the Notes app from being connected to Gmail while saving all existing notes to my phone?
Also... Gmail and Notes have always been linked for me, since I activated my Gmail to my phone the day I got it. So I can't disable this function and hope to save some Notes (such as those that existed prior to Gmail activation).
I really hope the only solution (or 'work-around' is more appropriate) isn't to email notes to myself and then copy/paste every single note back into my phone. How tedious.
    Hardware: iPhone 4s
    Version: 6.0.1

    Thanks for your reply, cheonweb.
I do not have the Accounts button in the upperleft corner of my Notes app. In Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars I have iCloud, Gmail and Hotmail accounts, but only Gmail has Notes enabled.
If I were to enable Notes in iCloud, then copy/paste from Gmail to iCloud, then disable Notes in Gmail... would all notes be available on my phone indefinitely? Or will they backup to my laptop when I connect my phone to my PC and be removed from my phone?
I do not currently use iCloud to backup, I just go through iTunes.

  • If I enter a new contact in Address Book on my MacBook Pro it copies onto my iPhone via iCloud but editing an existing contact does not copy to the iPhone

I have set up my new iPhone 4 to sync with my MacBook Pro using iCloud as default.  This works fine with Calendars on iCal in both directions.  However, I am struggling with Contacts because new entries on the iPhone appear on my Mac's Address Book fine but erratically the other way.  New entries on the Mac seem to appear OK on the iPhone but edits to existing accounts do not appear.  Also, many entries were missing when I imported the main list from Mac to iPhone but that was done by cable through iTunes before setting up iCloud.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

When you enable Photo Stream on your devices, only new photos you take or import to those devices will be automatically added to your Photo Stream. Existing photos won't.
