Macafee security center is may be the culprit.
Open Macafee then: select;
Internet & Network > configure
Firewall > Advanced
Programm Permissions > scroll down to Itunes
Highlight (click on)
Then Grant full access to Itunes.
APPLY then OK
When you select store from Itunes you will need to register with Itunes.
Try that or:
Disable your firewall.

Ipod shuffle is not detecting in both windows and itunes, its not charging as well
Suddently my IPOD stopped detecting in my PC, i have tried in another laptop with windows XP as well, but still it just blinks 3 times and goes off. Hence i am unable to charge or upload the songs into the ipod shuffle. It was working until 2 days back.
Can anyone please suggest a solution for this problem
I have tried by connecting to different USB ports as well.Buttons are working fine, because when i switch on the ipod and plugged it in the charger, it shows first as green and then moving to orange (after 3 to 4 blinks) its goes off
And also i tried resetting the ipod as well (as per suggested for 2nd generation)
Today, i gave a try from my another machine \
* i switched off the ipod
* i plugged into the charger
* it blinks for 3 to 4 times and then goes off. with this plugging itself, i switched on the ipod
* i plugged out the cable from the machine and plugged it back immediately
* This time it is getting charged
* i allowed it to charge for 2 hours and plugged out and now i could see playing songs successfully
But the problem the same thing is not working in my personal laptop, it is with WIn 7 (whereas the machine which is working with is WIn XP)
Even i tried to see whether it is detecting in Itunes of my personal laptop, it is not getting detected and not getting charged also. So i uninstalled the itunes and tried again, but it still it is not getting detected in Personal laptop and not charging also. -

If the screen shows a plug going to itunes, then you have no choice, It's in recovery mode. You'll be given the chance to restore from a backup either from itunes or icloud.
I assume when you got the message to update (was this for the ios or update some apps?), that was before the device when dead. At any rate, doing a restore does not change the ios. -
iphone 4 will not charge but when i hold power button it the batt comes on and the plug and the lighning bolt shows up. i tried different chargers wall and computer and tried soft reset, the phone died on its own it was jailbroken. but with the batt sing and the plug with the lightning bolt tells me the batt is still vholding charge.

The screen that you see is trying to tell you to connect the iPad to iTunes on your computer with the cable that came with it. ITunes will then walk you thru the setup steps. Make sure you download the latest version of iTunes before you connect your iPad.

so i connected my ipod shuffle to my apple computer and the status light on my ipod shuffle shows that it is charging but when i look for it on the pc dock or in itunes it doesn't show it at all.... so what do I do???
If you have not already, I would shut down (power off) your computer. Do this to Reset your shuffle

If you have added a new USB device recently (since the last time it worked properly), you may want to try disconnecting it to see if that makes any difference. -

To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse or trackpad. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply. -

I am running OSX 10.6.8 Snow lepard I am trying to install windows on my intel imac 20in late 2006 via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available. I bought the Imac secend hand and did not get the install dvd's with it What can I do?
You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation -
IPhone 4 charging but when I turn it on it dies

So my phone dies as it usually does. After that happens, I charge it up and everything works. However, today, when my phone died and I tried to charge it, it would not.
I put my phone on charge and I am able to turn it on, but when it turns on, it shows that there is only 1% battery and dies in less than 5 seconds. I have left my phone on charge for over 30 mins. Even then when I turn it back on, it still shows that the battery is at 1% and dies once again. It shows that it is connected (lighting bolt on screen) but as I said before, when I turn it on, it dies.
I am running some form of ios6. I also plugged it into my macbook pro but it doesnt show up on my computer. Please help!! Thanks to everyone in advance.I don't know if it's a battery issue; I can't examine your phone and perform diagnostics. That's why you go to Apple. They'll diagnose it and tell you what your options are.

earlier my itunes told me that my files were corrupted and I needed to restore, so I did. In the middle of the restore I lost internet connection. Now my computer and Itunes will not recognize my Ipod and if it is not plugged in when I turn the Ipod on it only shows the apple logo then shuts off after 30 seconds. If it is plugged in it will charge, but Itunes and Windows will not recognize it. I have tried the menu + select shutoff multiple times with no change. All it will say while it is charging is do not disconnect.
The clicking sound is your iPod Hardisk, trying to retract and find the boot sector unsuccesfully.
Hopefully, you can do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as in this great post by tt2., it wont fix your problem, but let you know, how dire is your Hardisk health.
So only as a last resort, one way, to get the stuck Hardisk head free, is to bang the iPod on a rubber mouse pad, when you reset it, but do it at your own risk, some very lucky guys got it working again for the next 14 months, like myself. -

I just bought a new iPhone but i can't restore my backup files beacuse it keeps saying "itunes could not restore backup because the password was incorrect" but I really don't know where to put the password to restore it. I really have some files that are meaningful for me so I really need help. Any suggestions anyone?Select your iDevice in the iTunes.
Choose the Summary screen (tab) and scroll to the bottom of the screen.
Then un-select Encrypt iPhone backup.
iTunes will then prompt you to “Enter the password to unlock your iPhone backup”, enter the password you set originally. -
Re-installed Windows and iTunes due to system crash, iPhone won't sync now
My system recently crashed. Re-installed Windows and iTunes, all my old documents, songs, movies were all gone. But I now still have movies, songs and pictures that are on my iPhone 3G and would like to transfer them to my newly re-installed system, but iTunes won't allow me to do it. I will have to lose everything currently in my iPhone because I am trying to sync it to which is now recognised as another computer.
Is there any way I can get all my songs, movies, pictures transferred across to my new system?The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone, and the same for photos transferred from your computer. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone so even if you are able to transfer the photos from your iPhone back to your computer, the original resolution of the photos will be lost.
iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased or acquired from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased or acquired from the iTunes Store only.
First you need to re-authorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After doing this when syncing iTunes content for the first time, your iPhone will likely be erased of all iTunes content first, but after you have transferred the content from your iPhone to your iTunes library, you can reselect it under the Music and Videos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Apple provides no option to transfer photos from an iPhone that were transferred to the iPhone from a computer. There may be a 3rd party utility that provides for this, but any such utility is not supported by Apple and the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
This is one of the reasons why maintaining a backup of your important data stored on an external drive or some other media is so important, which should include your iTunes library and photos, along with all other data that is important to you. This is important regardless the platform, but even more so with a Windows PC due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns. -
So I noticed my iPod touch 4th gen. Seems to die quickley. Last night I fell asleep while it was charging and when I woke up it showed that the battery was still dead. I took it off for the day and I tried again tonight. I plug iN. It shows that the battery is charging but it's on red. Then I try turning it on. It comes on but shows it isn't charging. Any advice? Someone tld me to reset. But , I'm nervous that if I reset I lose everything? Does that happen. I have really important pics and things on it.
