My iPhone contacts disappeared. Is it possible to make backup?

Today I cannot acces to the setiings in my iphone, so i switched it off and when i switched on, all my iphone contacts were gone. Is it possible to make some backup of the contacts?
Thank you in advance for your help

Thsi seems to be happening a lot. Mine just disappeared out of no where last night. I wasn't on the phone or anything. My sister texted me and I picked up my phone to see who it was and it just showed her number. I checked my contacts turned the phone off and back on and my contacts still weren't back.
Anyone get an answer from APPLE on this issue. I have never had problems with my Iphones before but have had many problems with the 4s from the battery running down now to this. I refused to upgrade when my 4s is just a little over a year old.

  • Address book & iphone contacts disappeared.

I was updating some birthdays/contacts in address book n MAC while syncing. got the spinning color wheel of death and address book contacts disappeared. since i was syncing at the time iphone has lost contacts as well. anyone know anyway to recover these?
i sync through itunes not mobile me
    desperate...

Ok let's see what we can accomplish here.
Step 1: Disconnect iPhone do not do anymore syncing for a bit
Step 2: Launch iTunes - Go to iTunes Preferences - Devices - Disable Automatic Sync with iPhone. This will prevent your backups from being over written.
While your there check the dates of the backups. Hopefully the last backup was BEFORE the data got lost and not after. If so you might be in luck.
Step 3: Connect iPhone - On the Summary Window Restore iPhone - DO NOT backup iPhone as it may over write the 1 backup that may contain the info you need.
Once restore is done iPhone will reboot. And will give you 2 options. Choose restore from backup. And then choose backup from pull down menu. It will now put that backup onto iPhone.
Keep in mind no guarantees this backup will have what you are looking for but it may be possible it does.
Once this is done. Check AB see if it has all the contacts back in the Mac. If not. Add 1 contact, And Sync. It should re-add all contacts to AB the backup put onto iPhone.
Now backup AB by going to File - Export - Address Book Archive.
So if this ever happens again just double click on the AB Backup and it will put AB back the way it was when you made that backup.

  • Deleted a duplicate gmail account on iPhone, contacts disappeared!

Somehow I had 3 duplicate gmail accounts in Mail on my iphone 4s. To clean up the duplicate messages, I deleted one of the identical accounts. ALL of the contacts suddenly disappeared from my phone. I tried turning Contacts off and on in iCloud, but it didn't recover the contacts. I synced in iTunes. Nada. I went to my laptop to check out my Contacts from Gmail. The Contacts I have there are at least 3 or 4 years old, no recent contacts. How can I recover my iphone contacts???? Help!!!

  • IPhone contacts disappeared after update to 4.1.

Updated my iPhone 3G to 4.1 a few days ago and now all my contacts have disappeared. I let iTunes backup my phone before the update and I can see the backup in Preferences but how do I use the backup? I'd be very grateful for some help - I recently lost all my mobile me mail and it can't be restored, so I am feeling a bit fed up. Thank you anyone.

Regardless if you don't have a MobileMe account, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book application on your computer and should be available on your computer with or without an iPhone or any cell phone. Not a good idea to depend on an iPhone or any cell phone alone for contacts, which can be lost or stolen.
Although photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup, photos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Contacts are also included with your iPhone's backup.
If you haven't synced your iPhone with iTunes since installing 4.1, you can try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. Do not sync your iPhone with iTunes before doing so and when prompted to update your iPhone's backup with iTunes after selecting Restore, decline this prompt or your iPhone's backup will be overwritten.

  • HT4859 I inadvertently deleted iphone contacts thru Outlook. I have a backup on icloud. How do I retreive the contacts?

I read the instructions about restoring to a new iPhone. But, I do not see how to selectively restore content. I am not showing two backup in my backup list. The new back up does not have these needed contacts. The old backup does. What should I do?

You cannot selectively restore files from an icloud backup.  It's all or nothing.
If the old backup does not show, then for whatever reason it's no longer available.

  • Contacts disappeared from Address Book...backup anywhere

I turned on my computer this morning and opened Mail to send out a message. I began typing an address only to find that Mail was not suggesting the address like it usually does. I opened Address Book and all my contacts were completely wiped.
I went into my .Mac account online and they were still there, only the account said it had last synced in April. I have had my system, set to Autosync for quite some time. Apparently in never synced those. I tried syncing it downward back to Address Book and it never filled up. Additionally, I have added many contacts since April and those are not on .Mac. A couple of days ago, I had to take my computer down to another office where I had to work for a couple of days and then I had to bring it back home last night. That is the only thing I have done since I last used my Address Book.
The last time I rememebered using it was yesterday at that other office. I was very careful last night when bringing it home. Does anybody have any idea what could have happened? And also, if there is an auto backup that Address Book puts somewhere? Please help!!!

That's the other weird part to this whole mess. When I reset the sync data for the Address Book and told it to overwrite the computer with .Mac, it never downloads even a single item. Furthermore, I have noticed a problem for about 3 months now when I click on my iDisk icon in the Finder I get the following error message:
The volume for "iDisk" cannot be found.
I have updated everything and this is still happening. .Mac hasn't really been up to what it was supposed to be the last few months. Especially when it said that my online addressbook had not been synced since April when I have had it set to auto since then, and have made many additions.

  • Possible to make backup copy of Tiger DVD?

I'd like to make a backup copy of my Tiger DVD, just to be safe. I've tried to do this with Toast Titanium and also simply copying the DVD files to my hard drive first. Both don't seem to work.
Isn't this possible? What if this thing gets damaged? Or am I being naive in thinking Apple would allow such a thing?
    Thanks for any help!

The disks which came with each Mac are indeed system specific. However, retail disks which are newer than those systems are not system specific.
Some may believe that they are not system specific, and I've seen them post here. Though these links should satisfy most people's need for clarity:

  • Eventually disappear from my Iphone contacts. How is it possible?

Eventually disappear from my Iphone contacts. How is it possible?

I have contacts on my iphone, iPad, and macbook. with the latest OS, and sharing all these on the cloud, I'm seeing contacts on my iPhone disappear. i enter them, and a few days later go to use a contact and it's gone, on it's own.
I don't think the explanation of which system is "in charge" or the "master listing" is very good, in fact i can't find a good explanation about which device has contact "control".
if I enter on the iphone, it should appear on the macbook and ipad, right ?
My guess is that if it doesn't appear within a short time, that when some other device that does NOT have the contact tries to work with a device that has the contact, that because it doesn't exist on one of the devices, that it gets deleted from ALL the devices, to avoid duplicate contacts.
i'm not really impressed with the "sync contacts" across the cloud, it is just too flakey, especially with so little explanation of how it is supposed to work.
Maybe someone has a found a good explanation of the sync process when two or three i-devices are sharing contacts. What is the procedure for adding and deleting contacts and can one system just delete a contact from another system on it's own ?

  • HT1386 After I synced my iphone with itunes, all my contacts disappeared, and I cannot find them.  Need help!!

After I synced my iphone with itunes, all my contacts disappeared, and I cannot find them.

    You don't.
You synced your iPhone with iTunes for the first time after how long?
And this didn't happen by syncing only. This means you transferred the backup for another iPhone or you restored the iPhone with iTunes. It is not possible for everything to be lost by syncing alone. All iTunes content on your iPhone can be lost but not any photos in the Camera Roll and the same for contacts unless you synced contacts with an empty address book application on your computer.

  • My iPhone contacts/notes disappear at random times.  Help?

For the past few months my iPhone contacts and notes have been disappearing at random times.  Sometimed they reappear, sometimes they dont.  For awhile I was solving the problem by going into iCloud settings and toggling some features off and on.  This no longer works.  I get the feeling this is an iCloud issue as the "find My iPhone" feature is always off when I go back into settings, even when I have just switched it back on a day or so earlier.
I notice that whenever my contacts disappear the "Find iPhone" feature is also disabled.  All of this started when I thought I lost my phone and put it into "lost" mode.
Any suggestions?  I phone latest iOS on a Verizon 4S.

No dangers at all resetting the PRAM. I forgot to post instructions earlier so I'll post them below. It's possible resets may handle the issue or it's possible it's something mechanical too such as not enough RAM which is easy to upgrade or a failing HD. BTW how much RAM is installed and what size HD does the machine have and how much is availalble? But let's finish the basic resets (SMC, PRAM and Safe Mode restart) before we start looking at anything else.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Contact disappeared from iPhone but not deleted from Address Book on sync

FYI, I have an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2 (the latest), and I have never so much as thought about MobileMe.
Until two days ago, I have had no reason to doubt that my iPhone's Contact list is the same as my MacBook's Address Book list. I now have no confidence that the same info. exists in both: I know for sure that at least one contact long present in both has disappeared from the iPhone, yet syncing all contacts neither returns it to the iPhone nor deletes it from Address Book! I need help troubleshooting this contact as well as verifying that there aren't other similar anomalies corrupting my data, hopefully without manually comparing all 685 entries...
Two days ago, a certain number, let's call it (310) 555-5555, popped up in my recents list as a missed call and in my visual voicemail. When I listened to the voicemail, I discovered that (310) 555-5555 was Jane Smith. I remembered entering Jane Smith several months ago, so I thought hmmm, does she have a second number? I tried to add (310) 555-5555 to an existing entry, only to find my iPhone had no entry for Jane Smith anymore at all! I did not delete her myself, and I'm not aware of any 3rd-party app that ought to have affected the entry. I haven't called Jane Smith or (310) 555-5555 in quite some time, so I have no idea how long the entry may have been missing. I searched the whole phone (left of the first home screen)
At the next opportunity, I looked in Address Book on my laptop, and indeed found the expected entry for Jane Smith, (310) 555-5555. I have no idea how she disappeared from my iPhone -- did I or some third-party program delete her? Or did it happen through some sync issue? -- but I naturally worried that when I next synced, the deletion would sync, too, and I would lose the Address Book entry, leaving me without Jane Smith's number at all.
Such an event would defeat the entire purpose of backing up my phone contacts to my computer; I just moved to iPhone this spring after being a Palm user since 1997, and the idea that iPhone might not be reliably syncing my contacts is frankly terrifying. I checked and saw that my Address Book listed 685 contacts to iPhone Contacts's 684, so I decided to risk a sync in hopes that maybe I had caused a one-off deletion. I wrote down Jane Smith (310) 555-5555 just in case and hit sync.
The results of the sync and my subsequent troubleshooting have seriously undermined my confidence in the fidelity of the sync process. The first time, nothing changed--I still had 684 iPhone, no Jane Smith, and 685 Address Book, including Jane Smith.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Before conecting your phone, open iTunes on your computer and go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Now connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar click on its name.  Go to the Info tab and confirm than your have checked Sync Contacts with Address Book.  Now further down on the Info tab under Advanced>Replace information on this iPhone check Contacts.  Click Apply and sync your phone.  This will replace the contacts on your phone with the contacts in Address Book.  (When complete you can go back to iTunes preferences and uncheck "Prevent..." to re-establish automatic syncing if your prefer this.)

    ashish35,
No one from Apple here - we're just users like you. All I can tell you is that electronic fail and with MacBook Pros (and most notebooks) the components are so integrated as to make a repair to the logic board practically impossible, hence the high prices charged for repairs.
Only you can decide if you want to have your computer repaired or put the money towards the purchase of a new computer. If you do decide to purchase a new unit I would suggest that you also purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan which increases your warranty from one year to three years.
    Sorry and good luck,

  • Anyone know why uploads contacts disappear from the iPhone 5? Half of my number is suddenly gone, and this happens over and over again? Kata-*******-stroff! Grateful for answers?

    IPHONE 5
Anyone know why uploads contacts disappear from the iPhone 5?
Half of my number is suddenly gone, and this happens over and over again?
    Kata-*******-stroff! Grateful for answers?

do you sync your contacts with an application in your computer? or use iCloud?
I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups?  if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again.  Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone?  If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name.

My contacts disappear and I don't know my iphone backup password. How can I recover them?

Actually, there are two ways to recover lost contatcs of iPhone, one is from the iTunes backup files, another one is recover them directly from the iPhone with the help of iPhone Contacts Recovery software, since you are wondering about the way without the using of iTunes backup, you can choose a kind of iPhone Contacts Recovery software to recover your contacts in a few steps and it is very easy and fast, you can have a try!
