My iPhone cpu is running constantly at 20% on 3G.

My iPhone cpu is running constantly at 20% on 3G, i am sure this is the problem of the battery drain  since iOS 6.0.1,  and with the ios 6.1.2 is the same thing.  Apple need to fix that.

A Macbook is an Intel Mac so you can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but check system requirements first. Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".

You can buy Snow Leopard at:
Snow Leopard disc source - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After installing run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.

  • Process "bird" taking up to 140% of CPU and running constantly

    Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite/iMac mid-2011
My iMac is really slow to start-up, to run, and to have applications run. I have 32 GB memory, 113 GB hard disk capacity and it has never been slower in its life. There is a process called "bird" that is running almost constantly whenever I run Activity Monitor and it is taking up to 140% of CPU time. What is "bird"? Why is it running constantly and eating up so much CPU time? Why is my iMac so slow running Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite?
Other issues on my iMac include: Software Update is supposed to be updating and installing updates automatically and it is not. When I log in, I see a blank white screen with an apple logo and a progress bar below. It takes forever for the progress bar to get 1/4 of the way across, then the screen flashes and the progress bar finishes the remaining 3/4 really fast. And then once logged in, it takes forever for my dock icons to appear, and my iMac hard drive is chattering like crazy even though nothing is running yet. Whenever I launch Safari I get a progress bar in the address field that goes 1/3 of the way across and frequently hangs. And then just nothing. All of these issues never happened before Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite. Is anyone else experiencing issues like this? How did you solve them?

Once it’s enabled iCloud Drive starts working automatically, syncing data between your devices in the background (slowing your iMac down). Unlike the first version of iCloud, iCloud Drive can be be accessed in the Finder like other folders. You can store any type of file in iCloud Drive provided it is less than 15 gigabytes in size. When it’s enabled, it will show up in the side column of a Finder window. iCloud Drive is not as advanced and widely accessible and supported as Dropbox, but it’s  useful if you work and share documents between your iOS and Mac devices. The service should improve further.

  • Macbook Pro fan running constantly and CPU running slow

So, I have a Macbook Pro 2010 2.3 i7 that has started running really slow and the fan is running constantly.
In activity monitor it shows a kernel_task running constantly at around or above 200%.
I have tried all the regular tasks.  PRam reset, SMC reset and nothing seems to fix it.
I have also tried a system reinstall to no avail.
Maybe I'm on the wrong track, but from what I have read, the kernel_task might be trying to slow my CPU down because it thinks it is being overworked?
Maybe the fans are also being activated because it thinks the computer is too hot?
Anyway, if anyone has any idea as to what I can do to figure out what is going on, let me know.  Thanks

The mdnsresponder will not quit.  Consumes above 100% CPU and kills my battery.  Also causes my fan to run constantly and my computer to get extremely hot.  Force quitting doesn't work.  It just comes back.   I posted about this earlier and never got an answer.  Somebody, please help.
    Thanks.

mDNSResponder is a background process that runs all the time. If you kill it, it's relaunched automatically.
Please launch the Console application and select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "mDNSResponder" (without the quotes) in the search field. Post a sample of the log messages in the Console window -- only one example of each repeated message, please.

  • HT1766 Sadly the last update is causing my battery to run constantly  even if i am not using it.  Ihave been told to reset my iphone and then set it up as a new device .  How do I do this and keep my contacts and calendar?

I recently did an update and my iphone 4 battery now drains within 6 hours (preveiously would be fine for 36 hours),  I was told to reset my iphone and then set it up as a new phone , so as not to have the problem recur.  How do I do this and maintain my contacts and calendar if I am not using my computer back up?

Of course the battery "runs" constantly, otherwise the phone would die.  Duh!
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • MBP fans run constantly, CPU hot

Hi There -- The fans in my MBP run constantly with CPU temps up to 89c after downloading 10.6.8, even with just the Finder running. There's nothing hogging up CPU in the Activity Monitor, and I don't have Parallels. I've reset the SMC and trashed the Dock preferences multiple times as recommnded by others to no avail. Any other ideas out there? Thanks.

For anyone who stumbles across this post, I wanted to update what ended up happening. I decided not t purchase CoolBook, as I felt that would merely treat the symptom and not the cause of the overheating problem. My MBP sits on an iLap which in the past has always kept it cool. Something in the 10.6.8 update was causing the CPU to heat up extraordinarily with nothing unusual showing in Activity Monitor under All Processes, or anywhere else for that matter, with just the Finder running.
I decided to try downgrading to 10.6.7. I followed the steps outlined by member Alexandre in another post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3146928?start=0&tstart=0
When I was done, all was cool and quiet. Everything was back to normal. CPU temps dropped by 30 degrees Celsius.
I guess 10.6.7 will be the end of the line for this particular MacBook Pro until some kind of other fix becomes evident. Thanks again for the members that provided help. Much appreciated.

  • Fan runs constantly (not my printer)

    Hi,
I've had this problem for a while and it's really getting to me. The fan on my black MacBook (purchased April 2007 and treated very well) runs constantly. Not upon startup, but as soon as I open Firefox it's going until I shut down. I've read about people who had backed up print queues and clearing this solved the problem, but my print queue is empty and doesn't even show up on Activity Monitor. It also says that I have between 88%-92% of my CPU free. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I should also add that the CPU temp is between 66° and 69° C.

What speed is the fan running at? Use smcFanControl to monitor it. The fan should be running close to 2000RPM at idle.

I tried to add this in the topic already open but it kept sending me through the unending rabbit holes!
My question is: How do I figure out what release I was on, get rid of this one and got back to a functional firefox that moves in realtime. I already did all the reset and etc.... I just want to go back to the speed I had. This halting , hanging up misery of a browzer is Sad. I have had firefox for years and always recommended it ..... BUT NOT ANY MORE. I agree with the other poster ... there should be a rollback feature. Peoples time has value and right now FireFox is sucking the value down a rabbit hole.

This new version of FireFox is making me nutz! It is SUCKING 100% CPU time almost constantly. I could just pull my hair out. I wpdated once a month or so ago and it slowed down..... but the latest update before I did the reset really slowed me down. I came here to fix it a couple of dayz ago and did the reset firefox and now it IS RUNNING SO POORLY AND SLOW I AM ABOUT TO KILL IT OFF MY MACHINE!!! Yes that is me yelling - and it happened in SSSSSSSSSSSSS LLLLLLLLL OOOOOOOO WWWWWWWWWW Motion. I have run all the security scans and cleanups ---this needs a fix ASAP!!! PS: The hang ups and slowness is EVERYWHERE I go. I only get speed doing programs not connected to ON LINE.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • What is causing my Macbook Pro fan to run constantly?

Hello. Recently my Macbook Pro fan has begun to run constantly at high power. I've checked the activity monitor and even when there is little RAM or CPU this occurs. I am wondering if the issue is the hard drive because the I am seeing spikes in disk activity at random times even when I am not using the hard drive. The computer is actually heating up when the fans are on at full power, so this also leads me to believe it could be the hard drive. I have already tried resetting the system management controller. Any other ideas? What should I do about this?
    Thanks a lot.

Try raising the the the machine with wood, or , plastic botttle caps t get it up an inch or so, that way there is more air flow under the MBP to help with the air flow to help keep the cooling more een.  Hope this helps.

  • Imac5 cpu is running at 100% with no programs running.  How do I figure out what is causing this?

My fan is running constantly and the cpu is at 100% without opening any programs.  It just started doing this yesterday.  I erased the console logs and that didn't help.  I've been looking on line for other possibilities, but not finding much.  I hope someone has some ideas.

Try checking User>Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor and see what's using up all the CPU.  If nothing shows up, then your power supply unit is faulty, leading your machine to think it's overheating.  You can also check in Console to see if there's any mention of maximum temperatures being exceeded (just enter those words in the little window at the upper right of the Console window).

  • How do i get the CPU to run at full speed steadily?

how may I get the S10's CPU to run at the full speed (near 1.6GHz) steadily?
since the power scheme's fixed to be "Lenovo" and is only adjustable through its own energy management
I'm not able to set the power scheme as "Always On" like how I may do with other laptops
I tried changing every option possible and found no way I could stop the CPU from constantly reducing its speed to half
it keeps going back and forth between 1.6 & 0.8 GHz
how may I possibly get this fixed up?
I'd like to have my CPU always run at the full speed when plugged in
    thanks a lot

what program do u use? try cpuz, www.cpuid.com
EDIT: i also want to ask, why do u want to lock the cpu to 1.6ghz? it will not make any noticable difference in performance, will just keep the vcore high, resulting in high temps, and louder fan..

  • Macbook Pro Retina fan runs constantly

    Hi,
I have a mid 2012 15 inch Retina Macbook Pro  that was running absolutely fine till last 2 years. Just recently it is creating problem like the fans of the laptop run constantly even under normal cpu load and temperature. I have tried every possible guide and way to fix it but just couldn't solve it.
Then I ran the hardware test and found out the following error:
    4SNS / 1 / 40000000 : Th2H - 127.875
After little bit of googling, I found out the error code referred to sensor related problems. Important to mention here, I live in Bangladesh where apple does not have a direct store but 1 - 2 authorised retailers and service providers. So I took my laptop to one of the authorised service providers w/o any delay and they told me I have to change my logic board as there's no other way to fix it. And changing the logic board will cost me hefty usd 1200 approximately which is a lot for me.
So can anyone suggest me what to do now. Is the error code really refers to replacing my logic board? Is there any way to skip the replacement? I mean is there any way to control fan by any app? What best I can do now?
I will highly appreciate if anyone gives me an honest opinion.
    Thanks.

Not sure of the feasibility of this, but one potentially cheaper option would be to buy a matching model from Ebay that has a non-logic board related fault (screen, physical damage, etc.) that can be bought cheap and the logic board transplanted to your own. At $1200 you are clearly in the "buy a new one" category. You would have to consider things like whether the MPB is registered (and potentially locked) like iOS devices can be. Not sure if the same security applies to Macs?
If replacement is your only option, then you should still be able to sell your current MBP on Ebay for parts.
Perhaps contact Apple direct and see if you can arrange a direct repair with them? I am assuming you didn't purchase the Applecare cover (which if only 2 years old would still cover your MPB).

    Hi
I have a macbook pro retina - less than a year old.  Has been working great, but right after updating to Yosemite - the fan began running constantly on high.  It doesn't stop even during sleep (only when shutting down the computer completely).  I am not a computer expert - but I did reset the SCM and PRAM and nothing helped.  I looked at the CPU, and one thing I noticed is that everything seems to use low percentage, except idling %, which is constantly on 80-99%.  Any suggestion on what this might be about, and how to fix it?  I'm worried about my
