My iPhone does not notify me when a text message comes in.

My iPhone has been acting really strange since the last update. I am now using iOS 7.1.1, iPhone 4 but the phone is not letting me know when I have messages come in. For example... my sms will not notify me when it is on locked screen... I have tried many, many different things that I have seen suggested on here but nothing is working.
Not only is it from my messages, but I have been missing calls as well because it is not ringing through.
Could you please tell me how I can get this fixed.

Nope, text messages are set to alert style, none of these settings has changed. Like I said, it's only an intermittent problem that happens while I am using another app or mail or Safari or whatever. Strangely enough, when I am using a music app (Pandora, etc.) that does not require me to actively use it (for example, I am listening to music but the lock screen is on, and when I unlock I'm just on my home screen... I do get text alerts. This is so weird and such a pain!

Did you get any help on this? From what I can see from surfing this site, it's a BUG that no one has offered a solution to. It sometimes happens after a 'reset' and going to ITunes does not offer a way to 'set up push notifications'.

IPhone 4 does not notify me of a text message while I am using another app

What gives?? I have not changed any settings on my iPhone but I recently noticed that when I am actively using another app (any app from social networking to games, etc.) my phone does not vibrate/ring/otherwise notify me that I have received a text. The only way I can tell if I have received a text is if I exit an app, then scroll over to my messages and see if there is an icon to show that I have a new message. How can I fix this? DJTayLo, Let's get your voicemail working! I noticed you metioned that your Cellular Data is off. Visual Voicemail does need to be connected to Cellular Data in order to retreive voicemails for the iPhone. This can cause the notifications to be delayed. When you turn Cellular Data on do the notifications then show correctly? Which model iPhone do you have? We'll figure this out.

My phone is not notifying me of some text messages and phone keeps asking for apple id password when in messages, what's wrong with my phone?

My phone sometimes does not alert me when I get messages from certain people, and is constantly asking me to put in my password for my apple ID. I have only done it once, but the prompt immediately popped up again, and is really just a major nusaince. I don't know what is going on with my phone because it also keeps freezing and won't even lock. It's just so frustrating at times.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I can receive texts from one contact but when I reply she does not receive the text. It does not say delivered when the text is sent but does not say that it has not been sent.

One of my long standing contacts cannot receive texts from me. I can see them from her. We both have iPhones . We have been texting for years.
My outgoing message is sent as iMessage and stays blue. It does not say delivered but it does not say that it has been unable to send.

Try testing the iPhone without any accessories.

Iphone 6 keyboard grayed out when opening text message

when i receive a text message and click on the messages icon, the message shows up but they keyboard is grayed out for a second before becoming visible…has anyone noticed that? i have never noticed it on other iPhones its weird

I have had my Iphone 5 for two months now and have had this issue on the origianl and a new replacement Iphone 5. I have gone to the genius bar twice already. The first time they reset the phone, wiped it clean and re-downloaded all of the software to the phone. They told me to try it out for a week or so. It kept on happening. Everytime I got a text message, (from the locked screen) I would swipe to open and it would crash and give me the apple symbol for about 20 seconds. I have restarted, hard reset the phone, restored from backup as well. Two phones having the same issue? If it happens again I'll set up a third appointment with the genius bar for a possible third new Iphone 5.

Music Rights, security,every body wants something like this and like that- with all they have to consider and take care to get not sued- it is no wonder thta there are some restrictions.
And why ? because they are the only one to realy care an respond to questions and claims. Ever tried to get help from Sony and other Bigies ? Its like talking to a wall.Their support is just a not specific call center. Or did somebody read recently that Sony Erricson was called before the judge because their Cellphones are failing after third time repair (true story), their batteries are burning, their music devices dont let you transfer the music you bought(MiniDisc) and so on? Seldom right?!
If I read news about Apple, I just wonder how many legal challenges Apple has to face.

My Nokia N8 does not notify me when I have a message or a missed call. The only way I know is that the indicator light will flash but it says nothing on my home screeen so I have to go into log or inbox to check what it is notifying me of. Anyone had this problem before?

Something has become corrupted hold down the Home and Power Button whilst plugged into Computer and with iTunes open it should then find a iPhone in recovery mode reinstall the software and the back up it sounds like the back up had something wrong and has put this on to the new install.
