My iPhone email keeps sending email from the wrong account!

My iPhone keeps sending email out from my gmail account instead of my "Default Account." Is there a setting some where or some way to fix this? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Trouble is it holds al the most important info, so I'd try this first...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
Instead of deleteing that main plist, we might be able to use PrefSetter to make a new good copy...

This was driving me crazy but I've cracked it!!
Go to: Settings, Messages, Send & Receive. My mobile number was greyed out and wouldn't allow me to select it. My email address was highlighted but it also allowed me to "Add An Email". I HAD two accounts because of this problem. I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client. Guess what is happening?? That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening. This is incredibly frustrating. When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system. COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

My computer's mail system is sending out my emails from the wrong email. I have 3 emails hooked up to my mailing system and one of them is a school email for a club I run and often times, I'll be sending out a personal email and it'll say that I sent it from my school email when in my outbox and sent mail that I sent it from my personal email. This is getting really annoying. Help would be much appreciated!

Go to Mail, then under Mail choose Preferences and see which account you have checked as the default email account. Also, before you send an email, look to see which account the email is being sent from, that appears with the address information in the upper portion of the Mail window. You can change the From account before sending if it is not what you want.

Avoid emails being send out from the staging environment

We would like to avoid that users of CRM OD get emails which are triggered from the Staging or Training environment. Is there a way to check for the environment and pod in an expression? Any best practices on this?

TS2326 iMessages across multiple iPhones / iPods appear to come from the wrong person

We have three different devices using iMessage - 2 iPhones and an iPod Touch. This issue is difficult to explain but from time to time when sending iMessage from one of these devices the sent message appears to come from the wrong sender. For example, my wife will send an iMessage to a friend but it appears the iMessage came from me.
We also use iTunes. All of the phones are signed into iTunes as the same user which is my username.
Could this be the problem and how do I fix it? Do I need each phone to have it's own iTunes account? If so, can I make it so purchases in the iTunes store are only made through my account?

You can continue to share the same iTunes account, but for iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, Find My Phone, etc., each needs their own separate Apple ID's. So, whoever's iTunes account it is uses that ID(if a verifiable email addres) for iCloud, etc. The other person creates an Apple ID & uses that for iCloud, etc. You can create an Apple ID here:

Sending an invite sends from the wrong account

I have several email addresses and I prepared an iCal meeting event for work, but when I sent the emails it didn't give me a chance to specify which address I was sending *it from it sent them from the wrong address*.
Any ideas how to fix this?

You may have already worked this out, but perhaps there are others wondering how to get around this too:
1. you need to have your card set up in address book (AB)
2. go to AB preferences and change email type in templates to the one you want iCal to use by default-this will then appear as the first email address in your own card in AB

I'm not throwing in the towel, just bummed.
The OS and App faults have cost me hundreds of hours and irreplacable loss of photos, receipts and all the other kinds of stuff you keep on a computer.
I'm actually very impressed with the hardware transition. I've found only one serious bug related to the hardware (Airport won't work after resume from sleep - takes a hard reset).
The bummer is that I've documented a ton of faults in the OS and delivered apps. Fortunately each release fixes some of them, but I don't think its responsible commercially or ethically to release a commercial product with so many faults - Can you imagine if this were a car? It would have to be a VW - lousy quality (I should know, having a bunch of them!)
Anyhow, just venting. I'll replicate, document and report the issues I find to help make it better In the mean time I'm slowly learning automator and applescript to fix or work around the issues I find.

How do I set MacMail to always send out from the same account?

I have multiple email accounts for my business but have them set to forward to my iCloud address (because I also have an iPad and cannot get my business mail on that unless it's forwarded). When I reply to business messages I always want to use the business address and only occasionally want to use the iCloud address. Without changing the send out address EVERYTIME, which is what I'm doing now, is there a way to configure MacMail so that it will ALWAYS send out from my business address unless I specify otherwise?
I looked at Help and it says that you can set that preference in Composing, but it doesn't seem to work.

.mac/mobileme/iCloud is only one of many options you can use for Mail.
In fact iCloud is shifting to mostly 10.7.2 or later only which your G5 does not support.
To determine if you can still use iCloud for Mail, read this tip.
POP account simply are either pop.mac.com, mail.mac.com, or mail.mobileme.com, or mail.me.com or pop.me.com.
smtp is the send mail server alone. And issues with sending mail to a non-internet juice provider typically happen if your internet juice provider blocks any sendmail servers that aren't authenticated. To solve that problem you need password authentication, and either a port 587, 2626, or 2662 with a username of your e-mail address, and password used for checking mail, and the sendmail server of your choice that knows of your e-mail address in your mail settings.
Using POP is great if you want to store your mail only on your machine. Otherwise it is better to use IMAP which stores on the server, and lets you copy information up to your machine as you desire.

Sending from the wrong account

I recently stopped using my comcast account in Mail, and started only using my .mac account. I removed the comcast account under preferences, but when I compose a message it still automatically selects [email protected] as the primary sender of the e-mail. I will usually not catch it and send the e-mail only to be rejected by the .mac smtp server. Then, I simply select the right address and send again without problem.
Is there anyway to get rid of the comcast option when I compose an e-mail where it will automatically send the message from my .mac address?

Mavericks mail can't send mail from the correct account

I have 5 mail account(index 1,2,3,4,5) in my mail app.
the default account is account 1.
After I new a mail and change the sender account to another account(not default account), the mail receiver always receive this mail from my default account address. This appeared from one week ago.

btw: all the 5 mail accounts are gmail accounts.
for icloud or other accounts, it works well.

Deleted an email account but keeps sending mail from it

Hi,
I have a problem, I just deleted all my e-mail accounts and created a new one but when i reply some of the emails keep being sent from the old account. I looked everywhere to find some setting linked to that old account but i can't find it. For example:
i had : [email protected] and now i have [email protected] and xxxx@(microsoft exchange adress) . com
and when i reply from the second one sometimes it's being sent from [email protected] and this adress isn't in my accounts anymore.

Mail Preferences>Accounts>Account Information>Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): dropdown>Edit Server List, select the one you want & click Remove Server.

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.
