My iPhone got submerged in water and won't start up. What do I do?

My iPhone went into the pool yesterday and will not start up. What do I do? Will it sync anyway?

It is probably dead.  The worst thing you can do is try to turn it on or charge it.
You will probably need a new one.
You can try letting it dry for a week or two.

I would recommend you try an SMC reset at this point:
Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
If that fails to solve it, it is probable that the power surge damaged some of your iMac's hardware components, and will need to be repaired at an Apple Authorized Service Center.

  • IPhone 4 fell in water and won't even reboot - It does indicate a red 'battery' though = completely dead ?

    Hello everyone,
my iPhone 4 fell in the toilet...
After a few days of the so famous 'rice treatment' , i plug it in to charge and it asks me to 'Connect to iTunes' -
As I didn't want to lose all my data, i decided to re-reboot it, but then the message never re appeared again to connect to itunes ( no matter how long or how many times i hold pressed both Home and Lock buttons), and all i see is a battery - as if it's charging (but it's very obviously not though)
QUESTION --> Is it completely broken or is there still something I can do?
    Thank you all iphone lovers,
A very worried lady in the middle of nowhere in China!

It's been in the toilet and now it's not working properly. I'd say its broken.

  • Iphone 5 has shut down and won't start up again

    hey,
my iphone 5 was charging while i was sleeping. I wanted to see what time it was but he just does nothing. There us a black screen (no charging icon). My power button is broken so a reset is not possible. If i connect it via itunes on my mac he can't find him. Help me!!!!

    Hello esterke,
As I understand it you are not able to turn your phone on, and the power button doesn't work so you cannot turn it on that way. You may be able to get it back on by putting it into Recovery Mode, which only requires the USB connection and a working Home button.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If not your phone may need service:

When I try to watch movies I've rented in AppleTV, it says there's a problem and won't start.  What do I do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router.

  • My ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put the passcode in my ipod, and i can't do anything with my ipod until it connects. what should i do?

my ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put in the passcode, and i can't do anything to my ipod until it connects to itunes. so, basically i can't do anything from the ipod or to it from the computor. what should i do?

    Restore...
From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

My iphone got wet, shut itself down, and won't restart. What do I do now?

Put it in a bag of rice or silica gel. Leave it there for a week. Do NOT attempt to power it on or charge it before the end of the week.
If it still doesn't work after that, make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced or buy a new one.

I guess your definition of "solved" is different from most...
Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store and get an out of warranty replacement.

  • My iPhone 4s turned itself off and won't turn back on. What do I do?

My iPhone 4s turned itself off and won't turn back on. What do I do?

Thanks for your help. I tried plugging it in but nothing happened, I actually still had battery power left. I was able to solve my problem by holding down the power and home buttons, which reset the phone and got it started again.
    Thanks for trying

  • Iphone 4 turns off randomly and won't turn back on unless it's plugged in

Iphone 4 turns off randomly and won't turn back on unless it's plugged in.
    Has anyone had this problem?
If I leave the phone (thus not doing anything to it) for an extended period of time say 2 hrs. It will have turned off and you can't turn it back on unless you plug it in, but it's got heaps of "Battery" left.
Ever so often it will turn off randomly as well, and can't turn it on again.

If your iPhone is powering off, this is not normal.
Try restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. If no change after doing so, your iPhone has a hardware problem. The iPhone includes a one year warranty.

  • What do I do when my iphone three is locked up and won't even hard reboot?

What do I do when my iphone 3gs is locked up and won't even hard reboot?

To hard reboot your iPhone 3GS hold both the sleep/wake and the home button at the same time and it should shut down, wait a few seconds before shutting it back on. Also you can hook your iPhone up to itunes and under the iPhone screen select restore to bring the phone back to a clean state. That may help in cutting down on how much it freezes, but make sure you back it up before you do do this if you wish. That way you can restore your old data.
    Hope that helps. ^_^
