My original iphone was on version 4.3.1/2 then wireless went wrong went over to Covent Garden and was sold this one as a like for like for £120 and now i've lost all my Apps and can't get them back as my itunes libary has change to this rubbish so called like for like iphone.
I've restored everything and still nothing cannot get it to work as my old iphone did so it can't be the same type has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it.
I must add i fought i had bought a 3gs as i had one before and it worked the same only to be told at the store that it was a 3g em?
Sorry. It is not "seven months old". It was discontinued in June of 2010. It hasn't been manufactured in 2 1/2 years.
4.2.1 is the end of the line for the 3G.

I have tried a hard reset, I have also tried switching different chargers and nothing seems to work unless the cord is in a certain position (sometimes it has to be propped up with the cord twisted down and sometimes it needs to be laying on the left side, it's so weird. Music on my iPhone has become very difficult to edit since upgrading to 5.0.1. If I simply want to delete some songs, it insists on a complete sync cycle after EACH one I delete. This is so annoying… (I have over 400 Christmas songs I won't need until next year) I have also noticed it randomly keeps updating album artwork…adding more time to each sync. Is there some way I can turn off the syncing until I have picked and deleted all the songs I want?
The cause was probably a USB glitch during a sync or when copying. The music resides on the phone in separate files. A master file contains a database with an index to the music, an entry for each track and a "pointer" to the file containing the track. Somehow the index got corrupted with duplicate entries. It's likely that the music itself wasn't duplicated, but some tracks had more than one entry in the database. I've seen this happen when syncing (rather than manually managing) also. In my case deleting the track from the Music tab in iTunes, syncing, then adding it back fixed it.
A related problem I've seen is an album may be split, with some tracks in each of 2 or more album entries in the listing. Fixed the same way. -

Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete apps from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -

I like and use Top Sites but it has become unsuable with this constant blacking out and reloading the thumbnails. My MBP has not seen a problem at all.
I have been searching every other day for over a month trying to find a fix in Windows Safari with no joy. I want to resolve, not switch browsers. Please offer up a solution that only refreshes the Top Site thumbnails once a day or as some controlable interval. Started about two versions ago, now on ver 5.1.5. Windows 7 64bit.

Seven months in, and nothing has been resolved...
Posting on the forums had to be my last choice in the matter, but after 200 phone calls and over four engineers I think enough is enough. I have been a BT customer for more then two years, but since this year I have received nothing but a headache. My usual speed averages at about 1Mbps but in reality I'm receiving less then 29Kbps. This problem has been going on now for almost eight months now. I've been promised modems that have never been ordered, call backs that never happen and upgrades which don't do anything. I have a wired connection to my modem
I'm using the master socket
There is an openreach face plate installed on the master socket
and I'm using a coustom built computer
Although the speed may look fine, come around 10'o'clock that speed will drop out and I will be faced with a much lower connection. The only way to resolve my issue was to reset the modem every morning when I woke up, which isn't helping myself I know, but based on the BT support I've been given I have no other choice. Of an evening our speed averages slower then 97% of the country. I can understand that I would achieve a minimum of 1Mb, thats fine but I'm not recieving it. A few days Ago I recieved an email from BT claiming that the exchange would be undergoing some repairs to offer a more reliable service. the email I recieved is bellow.

On 16-Aug-12, we’ll be upgrading your local phone exchange. That means you’ll get a stronger, more reliable broadband connection. (It might make it a bit faster, too.)
What will happen on the day?
At some point before 6pm, we’ll switch off your broadband and phone for a few minutes. They should restart again automatically when we’ve finished the upgrade. But if they don’t, just turn your BT Home Hub off and on again. If you’re not using your BT Home Hub or BT supplied hub-router at the moment, we recommend you reconnect it to get the best out of your broadband. It’ll also help us fix problems if any crop up.
When will the upgrade be finished?
Although the technical stuff will all happen on 16-Aug-12, your line will need some time to settle down. That’ll take up to ten days. Your broadband might slow down or even stop now and again. But don’t worry, that’s normal.
The best thing to do is leave your BT Home Hub on and use your broadband as much as you like. Then your line should settle fairly quickly.
Will it affect my BT Vision?
Only if you’re actually watching an On Demand programme during the upgrade. Then you’ll see an error message.
After the upgrade, everything should restart automatically. But if you get an error message, restart your BT Vision box manually. To do that, just hold down the power button for about six seconds.
Any recordings you’ve saved or scheduled will still be there.
How can I get BT Infinity?
BT Infinity is our superfast fibre broadband. If we can offer it to you, we’ll let you know in a separate email or letter. Or you can check for yourself at bt.com/infinity
Anything else?
If there’s anything else connected to your phone or broadband line, you might need to restart them after the upgrade.

I can sadly say that there was no long term effect from this apparent upgrade. After I came home from holiday I did notice that the line was recieving 2.2Mbps and I was extreamly happy, until night time came around. The modem shut itself off and did the useual stuff that it normally does and has done for the past seven months.
On the whole I'm very distressed with this matter and have quite frankly given up all hope for any fix. If there is any more information that I need to provide please don't hesatate to ask me. Thank you for your help in advance. I just want my normal connection.To my surprise, I was able to use the speedchecker. These are the results of when the connection is perfect, I will post this evening the drop out results.

iphone has been in recovery mode for 4 hours and hasn't come back to the home screen and how can i fix this and get it back to working order?

The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier

That is not supported by Apple, once you move up in an iOS version you cannot downgrade. The files for the lower iOS are no longer available.
