My iPhone has crashed once installing iOS 5

Is anyone else having prodblems trying to install the iOS 5 on the iPhone 4?
I backed up first like most people have mentioned to do as it can lose everything.
I installed the OS and said install to phone which it did well until it decided to crash my phone. To now it has taken me 2 hours to try and restore my phone.
I have restarted the computer, changed the cable (even though i know this isnt a prodblem) and am currently on hold to Apple to try and resolve the problem.
I have been getting error messages which include these code: -1, 37 - these are the most common ones, 1618 and oxE8000065
Any guesses in how i can get my phone to work again?

If your iPhone does not search for a wi-fi connection before you are asked whether you want to set it up as new phone or restore a backup from iTunes, then I guess you have the same issue as highlighted in this thread:

iCloud back ups can only be accessed via wi-fi that's why you are not granted this option, I have the exact same issue.

I'm having the same problems. Can't even find out if Apple is working on it. Tried to downgrade but is not supported by apple so error 3194 comes up which is verifying with the apple web site. Which then stops everything. I understand you can modify the "hosts" file to by pass the issue, but hate doing that as it gets involved. May try it if I can't get any satisfaction from apple.

Does the screen come back on if you press the sleep/power button?
Have you tried powering down (hold sleep/power button and swipe red slider) then power back up? Power cycling sometimes will clear problems.
If neither works, and you can get to an Apple store, have the genius bar folks try it out...they are very good about replacement if faulty.

Dead iPad 1 crashed when installing iOS 5.1

My iPad 1 64 /3G which has all the regular crashing abilities discussed on this forum has finally died
It crashed whilst installing iOS 5.1
It will not restart , the battery is showing critical low level despite 24hrs of charging
Can any body help ? I have tried holding both buttons several times, it starts then shuts down after showing the low battery symbol, despite being on its proper power mains supply
Does not respond at all when connected to iTunes.

I had the same problem and was ready to throw It in the trash. Last night I erased my iPad and set it up as new iPad instead of restoring. I didn't turn on iCloud until after I deleted my iCloud backup and turned off contact syncing with it. Since then it hasn't crashed and it has had about 4 hours of use. 5.0.1 didn't have an effect on it. Just happy I got my iPad back!

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago. I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago; but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that. With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.

The ONLY place can unlock an iphone is the carrrier to which it is locked and ONLY if they offer that service.
For example, AT&T in the U.S. does not unlock any iphones at all.
You can buy an unlocked iphone from the Apple Store now, but you cannot get a locked phone unlocked in the U.S.

It sounds like you are having trouble updating the iOS device. You can use recovery mode if you can't update or restore your iOS device.

Iphone 3gs crashed after installing new ios update

Please help. I just installed the newest ios update to my daughters iphone 3gs. It installed successfully, i thought. Then about 10 minutes later it said verifying update. It went off and now tries to come back on and the apple icon flashes for a few seconds and goes back off. Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy... Perform a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
