My iphone has failed and I need to access my contacts.
My iPhone has failed (again) and I need to access my contacts. I backup/sync to ITunes regularly, but I can't find any means to access the data that I have backed up.
Any thoughts?
B.
The iphone is designed to be synced woth your computer regularly. Your contacts should reside on your computer. The iphone simply allows them to be portable.
Your contacts will be in whatever program you have been syncing.
The backup is only for restoring an iphone. Contacts are backed up to keep the recents and favorites when you restore your iphone.

My laptop has collapsed and I need to access my thunderbird account from my PC - Help!
Really need some advice. I've spilled liquid on my mac and I won't be replacing it anytime soon. Can I access my account from my G5? I would appreciate help if anyone knows how to do this.
There is no such thing as a Thunderbird email account. You have an email account with an email provider that you access with Thunderbird software.
Install Thunderbird on your other computer, add the account details for your email account and use it to access your providers email server. -
My iphone was either lost of stolen. I am able to access my contacts from icloud, but I don't know how to access my photos. Is this possible? if so, how?
Hi deekswife,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you want to view Photo Stream photos on a Windows computer you will first need the iCloud Control Panel installed. Once installed, there will be an iCloud Photos location selected on your computer. Please review the following article as a reference.
iCloud: Set up My Photo Stream
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13693
On a Windows computer
Install the iCloud Control Panel if it isn’t already installed on your computer.
Open the iCloud Control Panel, then turn on Photos. My Photo Stream is set up by default. To turn it off, click Options, then turn off My Photo Stream.
To change the iCloud Photos location on your computer, click Options. Click Change to choose a folder, then click OK.
Click Apply.
I hope this helps,

I am regularly getting messages that my password has failed and I need to log on again.
Within the past few weeks I am getting bumped off Thunderbird. I log in with the probable password and sometimes it accepts it and sometimes it rejects it and sometimes it bumps me off again shortly later. My spouse has an account on the same system and never gets these messages. Why is this so fragile?
No you can use the same Apple ID on both iPhones. That message is just for security purposes you dont have to change your password if you know that you are the one signing in on another device.

I need to download a ox onto a new HD as my old HD has failed
If you still have the original install DVD that came with your MacBook use it to format and reinstall the operating system and applications. If you do not, you may be able to obtain it by calling Apple. Give them your serial number and be sure you ask for the original disks that came with it. You do NOT want a generic retail installer.
If you have upgraded the OS on your MacBook since then, you will also need to repeat the process for that.
Of course a better course of action would be to restore your new hard drive from a backup that you made previously. Does this exist?
Best of luck. -
My HD has failed and I need a HD recovery specialist to recover contents!
Has anyone have this problem in the past? I'm thinking its gonna be expensive to do? Has any one got any good recommendations for this to be done? I have some files but mainly the photos of my newborn baby which, I would love to save!
Many thanks
PS before my macbook died and after restarting every time the HD was clicking like a stuck CD in the drive! I do dread to think how expensive this is going to be!Has anyone have this problem in the past?
Many people, unfortunately. Which is why most experienced users tell others to backup, backup, backup so that they aren't facing this sort of heartache.
I'm thinking its gonna be expensive to do?
Probably. You can try file recovery software such as Data Rescue (Prosoft Engineering), File Salvage and see if those can recover anything (both packages have, last I checked, a "trial" mode where you can see if they can find anything before you buy, though that requires another drive from which ou can boot your system). The chances generally aren't really good, though, particularly if the drive won't even mount.
If file recovery software won't work, then a recovery service is your only hope and they are expensive. The last time I asked for an estimate for a MacBook-type drive, the cost was between $800 and $1100 US with most vendors giving no guarantees of any sort of success. I can't make any recommendations for any UK-based service, but perhaps someone else here can.
Sorry about the problem; I wish you luck getting back your pictures. I know how precious those memories are. -

My IPhone is set up with an internet downloaded firmware of ios7 because my phone would not restore, the system has failed and I had to do a manual erase fro within the phone. My computer will not accept the phone because they say it's a "Developer?" Help. I cannot not even get passed the activation step on the computer or phone because it will not activate the device.
Hello buddyacw
You would have to restore the iPhone. Download the latest version of iTunes and then follow the steps in the article below to get it working again.

My logic board failed, and I need to buy an external hard drive. Can someone walk me through the process of doing this? Will the Genius Bar do it for free?
Also, I have a borrowed Mac right now. If I put the new hard drive on this computer will it erase the computer's current hard drive? Do I have to put the hard drive on another Mac?
Any help is greatly appreciated!if your logic board failed then connecting an ext. drive will be non productive.
if you take your hdd out of the failed mac and replace it into the borrowed mac you can then extract everything from that hdd. simply connect the external hdd, go into time machine preferences select your new ext. drive as the destination.
the external drive has to be formatted to mac os extended journaled. however you can purchase ext. drives already formatted for mac.
if you are having the logic board replaced then just put the old hdd back in, it will boot up normally.
you can rest easy knowing that if anything goes wrong, you have the ability to use your fresh backup to produce the same operating environment that you were using before things went wrong. -
How do i get an itunes library from a phone when the computer has crashed and it needs to go on a new computer
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer. -

Which one, the TM drive or the internal boot drive?
all my files are lost.
Where? on both drives or just TM or the internal drive?
any one know how to get the max osx
yea, if we knew more details of your machine and what you had before and later
to see the drive again so i can retrive my files
I don't know what drive failed.
I'm thinking here your internal drive failed? Was it replaced?
You have a blank internal drive and a TimeMachine drive and your asking how to reinstall OS X so you can restore from the TimeMachine drive?
How are you getting here? Another machine or device and what is it?
We need more details of your situation please. -
Every iPhone update fails and send phone into recovery mode
I'm getting extremely frustrated, and I know I'm not the only one after searching Google, that every time an update is released for the iPhone mine fails and goes into recovery mode then works the second time. It has happened on every release of iPhone software since owning a 3G and then the 3GS. My 2G never had the problem. Is there a cause and solution to the problem?
I thought mine was sorted on the second attempt this time but it wasn't. It took 6 attempts!
To get it working finally I done the following:
Restarted the computer
Made sure iTunes was updated to version 9
Located the 3.1 install file and delete it - Located in users/yourusername/library/itunes/iphonesoftwareupdates on the mac - not sure on a pc
Reopen iTunes and complete the restore and install. It had to redownload the update but worked this time round.
