My iphone has just got the itunes symbol and a usb cable showing on the screen it wont turn on or let me do anything what can i do???
i was updating my iphone 3gs software on my pc and it came up with an error and since then i have just had the itunes symbol and a usb cable on my screen. i cant do anything with it what can i do?
The only thing you can do is what the picture is telling you to do: plug it into iTunes and restore it.

You may need to try this More than Once...
But... if the Device has been Modified / Hacked / Jailbroken... this will Not necessarily work. -
iphone 4 not recognised by laptop after upgrading Itunes, the itunes symbol and a usb cord has appeared on my Iphone 4 screen. Frustrated isn't the word.
After installing latest version of Itunes, I connected my Iphone via USB and selcted yes to upgrade my Iphone, towards the end of the upgrade a notification popped up indicating that the upgrade had failed. Since then my Iphone just isn't responding, I've tried reinstalling Itunes, turning off Norton Security.

I've been through all those and apart from anything else, itunes is not seeing my phone, I therefore cannot restore the phone.
Have tried deleting and reinstalling itunes in case something was missing there, though the fact the problem is on both my mac and my windows machine seems to me to suggest a phone problem..
Is it possible that the latest IOS update which I did a week or so ago was not completed correctly? If so could this cause the problem? And how can I correct it?

I tried connecting it to itunes and updating it to the new software, and backing it up but it keeps saying unknown error 4005, Also when I first tried backing up my phone on my computer it would begin the processes then half way through it would say IPHONE has been disconnected, now it won't recognize it or anything. what can i do? I was able to locate a support article for the error you mentioned. The following steps may help you get your device back to working order:
iOS: Restore errors 4005, 4013, and 4014 - Apple Support
You may see one of these messages if the device unexpectedly disconnects during the update or restore or iTunes couldn't tell the device to go to the restore state.
The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4005).
The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4013).
The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4014).
Try these steps to resolve the issue:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Restart your computer.
Make sure your computer is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after you restart.
Restore using another USB cable.
Learn more about updating OS X.
Learn more about updating Windows.
Restore your device on another computer.
If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device,contact Apple for support.

Turn it off by holding home+ power button untill the screen goes black ( as soon as it goes black, release the buttons).. This might take some practice , so dont worry if on the first try your phone reboots and goes to itunes screen again.
Now, with your phone powered off, enter DFU mode:
Method 1)
Attach the phone to the pc
Turn the phone off
Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
Whilist in dfu mode, itunes will recognize the device and it will ask you if you wish to restore it. Simply click restore, and the restoring proces will begin.
This will hopefully fix your iphone.

So just like last time I tried to update my iPhone software...MY PHONE IS FROZEN. Displaying iTunes icon and a USB cable I pressed the Power button and the menu botton together until the apple icon appeared held them down for 10 secs & NOTHING Now what? Do I just wait for the battery to run out?

Your iPhone is in recovery mode-- you need to connect it to your computer and, most likely, iTunes will ask you to restore it. If you recently backed up this shouldn't be too much of a problem. -

I have had a 3GS for 2+ years. After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems. In the past week, my screen went to the itunes logo and USB cable twice -- unprovoked -- just found it sitting there like that! I connected to itunes and it did restore from a backup but it is a major inconvenience. I am also searching for answers, but better back-up regularly!

It means that you need to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes (recovery mode), and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it

We just did the iPhone update ios 6. The screen is frozen with the iTunes logo and a picture of a USB cale across the screen. none of the buttons respond.The phone does not recognize the apple USB when connected. We tried holding all the buttons down at the same time and also removed the SIM card and reinserted.
If it's not being recognized while it's in recovery mode in your itunes, try this
plug the phone into the usb attached to the computer
hold down the home and sleep/wake button on top simultaneously until the phone's screen goes black
When the screen goes black, release your finger from the sleep/week button on top but continue holding the home button until you see a dialog on the itunes screen on your computer that says 'itunes has detected a device in recovery mode'
then say 'ok,' select 'restore,' and say 'restore and update' -
I have had the iPod for about 2 years, and never had this problem. When I plug into iTunes I get the "iTunes cannot connect with this iPod because of pass code" message, but I can't enter my pass code because the screen won't change! If someone could please help, it would be appriciated!
With your iPod still connected to your PC, try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode using the instructions in this Apple support document and then restoring it to factory defaults in iTunes.

You Have to Sync it to your computer through itunes and setup your iTouch if you havent already otherwise u cant do anything with the iTouch until u do this..wondered the same thing when i purchased my iTouch over a year ago until i finally downloaded itunes and connected mine and completed the setup..hope this helps..

My phone will not turn off, has not done so for ages, Today I tried to upgrade which failed . Now my screen shows only the itunes symbol and a usb lead. When I connect to itunes it informs me the sim card is not supported though it works on other phones. HELP
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -
