This is a replacement phone as mine broke after updating I've only had it 3 months and now it's suddenly gone off and won't turn on I've tried the reset but it's totally blank if I return to the shop will I be made to pay again for a replacement??

You say your tried a reset, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons until you see the Apple logo? How long did you hold the buttons, it could take up to 30 seconds of holding for it to work. If this doesn't do it, then plug the device into the charger for a minimum of 30 minutes, then try the reset again. If you still cannot reset the device, make an appointment for the Genius Bar. Paying for a replacement depends on the warranty status of that device.
If your other device was under warranty, the replacement would have a warranty of 90 days or the balance of the original phone warranty, whichever is the longest.

It absolutely will not turn on. I tried holding the home and sleep button, but it failed. I tried charging it, and it only flashes the apple logo on and off again. I tried holding the buttons again while it did this, but it only tells me to plug it into itunes.
I tried plugging it into my computer to reboot it from itunes, but guess what? Itunes won't recognize it. My computer, and every computer I"ve tried plugging it into won't recognize it either. Itunes is up to date, and I've tried every trouble shooting idea I"ve seen on this forum.
I just bought this phone four months ago. It has been in an otterbox since the moment I opened it. It is not dinged, it is not scratched, it is not shattered... it is in absolutely perfect condition. It's absolutely positively ridiculous that my brand new phone is now a worthless piece of plastic unless I want to spend $200 to send it in to be fixed.
I'm so peeved, and I'd be really grateful to anyone who can help me.

If it's "brand new" it has a 1 year warranty. Take it to an Apple store and they will replace it. You can check the warranty status here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage
You can also try to restore it using Recovery Mode

IPhone 4S Shut itself off and won't turn on

my iphone 4s has turned off and won't turn on.
it doesn't respond to the power button and won't respond to being plugged in.
the last time I used it was about an hour before I noticed it.
the last thing I did was put one photo on to my photostream.
it had been sitting in an air conditioning room, and on a desk during the whole hour or so I wasn't using it.
anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with it?
i am 100% sure I'll have to take it to a store to figure it out unless it suddenly works.. but any ideas would be helpful....

My 4s did the same thing yesterday. I locked the screen, then about ten minutes later I went to use it and nothing would work. Like the phone was completely dead. I tried everything, plugging it in, reboot, nothing at all worked. Then about five minutes later I hit the lock button again and the apple logo appeared and it started rebooting. Not sure what happened!!

Try resetting the device: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). If the Apple appears, the reset is in progress, and the Slide to Unlock screen will display shortly.
Make sure the battery is charged. If you think it may not be charged, then plug the device into the charger and try resetting after 5 minutes or so.

Your phone is broken; there's no magic solution for you. You can try plugging it in to wall power and see if this turns the phone on, but if it doesn't, you can either go on vacation without your iPhone, or make the time to visit the Apple store before you leave.

There is a thread or two about the home button and how to fix it at least temporally. It sounds like some people have found it to be a rather permanent fix. Do search on something like "Home button won't work". It has something to do with putting the charging cable into the phone and applying a little extra pressure upward on the key. Don't take my word for it though look for the thread/s. You said originally that your "Power" button was broken and the thread I have seen is about the Home Button.

My Time Capsule shut down last night--completely turned off--and won't turn back on. It felt warm, so I unplugged it overnight. It sounds like it is beyond warranty but if you have applecare on a Mac that will also cover the TC if it was purchased within 2years of the computer..
Otherwise a self - repair is possible or help from a repairer if you happen to live in an area.. to Apple it is a sealed unit and they will not help you.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
