My iphone is acting really strange
okay my iPhone 4 i got it on april 2nd and i dropped my phone and it cracked, i was running, but it still worked. After a couple weeks, it just started to restart and then reset and when i would have 48% or something i would charge it and it would say 0% and then it would quickley go too 100%, it couldnt get service or anything it would just say "searching" for a long time & it would be REALLY hot, one day it reseted 3 times and it just completley DIED, did not charge or connect to a computer, whenever i would try it would go on and off, i let it be for a couple days and now i'm charging it, and it worked, im just afraid it will happen again. Should i get a new one?
Reset the phone first by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. She wont lose anything. If that doesnt work then she needs to do a restore in itunes from her backup, assuming she has backed up her phone recently. The circle is where it states whether your on 3g, 4g, lte.

Ethernet Port is acting really strange?
So I am having the hardest time coming up with a solution to a really strange problem I'm having.
Day One: My ethernet port just stopped noticing when it was connected to a internet connection. I did a restart, PRAM reset, anything that I could think of. Nothing worked. I made an appointment to the Genius Bar and the same problem was happening there.
So they booted up a new image of OSX on a thumb drive and ethernet port was working! So the Genius bar guy removed all my preferences/network .plist files from MY OSX and everything was back to normal.
So we know this isn't a hardware issue.
Next day: No more ethernet, Again...
I did the same proceedure that the Genius bar did. No result. WHAT THE DUCE? I still didn't have an ethernet port.
I then reinstalled OSX, to get a clean state. Ethernet is back and working normally. All good.
Next day: Ethernet port "works" but is selective on which one it wants to use.
I work in two different offices.
At the first office. The port next to my desk doesn't work when I connect. Another person can plug in (with same cord or different chord and get internet access) no issues. I can go two feet over and plug in there and the ethernet port recognizes it is plugged in and I revieve internet.
At the second office, the cubicle I reside in has 4 ethernet ports. All four work for other people. Only 2 work for me.
WHAT THE DUCE is going on? Can anyone help me with this?Along the same vein, after resetting the PRAM and SMC, try turning all security off: no firewall, enable all apps and turn FileVault off if in use. Not advocating a "go stroll naked in the rough side of town", but rather to try and confirn that those components have no bearing on the issue. Do enable all you use immediately after.

Computer Acting really Strange After 10.4.11 Update
Two days ago i updated to 10.4.11, at first i had some general problems with safari and some apps not working, but after reading and reinstalling apps, i thought all my problems was solved.
But !
Now i have a strange problem. Everything works fine on start up, but after a few hours it starts to work REALLY slow. For example, moving the cursor to the dock, it takes a few seconds before it pops up, and moving the cursor over the apps it "stutters", it does the same in all my programs.
i can restart and i wont have the problem for an hour or two, but many tasks i use my computer for takes longer than that, so i really hope someone can help me with my problem.
As english is not my main language, i also hope that i have described my problem well enough.

After using the machine for awhile, my machine sort of 'freezes'. I say sort of because I can move the cursor around, but I'm not able to switch applications. The dock cannot be accessed. The menus at the top of the screen cannot be accessed. Force Quit cannot be accessed through keyboard command. The only thing that works is the cursor. I can't even switch applications by clicking on the window of a different application if I can see it underneath whatever is at the front of my screen.
I repaired disk permissions from my Tiger Install DVD. I ran DiskWarrior 4. Nothing has helped. I'm still getting the same problem. At first I thought it was Safari 3, but this problem is happening no matter what application happens to be open.
The only way to get out of this is to restart using the control-command-power combination. Until this problem is resolved, I'm going to hold off updating my other iBook.
An ideas? -
My MacBook Pro is acting really strange and unusual
Please read my 3 part chronicle named 'The Tribulations of M. B. Pro' Pictures featured at end.
I recently showed an apple techy (in-store) a picture of what my laptop displayed the other day and he said he didn't know but I should bring it in asap, he looked worried and slightly frightened for me. This worried me. I feared for the well-being of my Laptop. He also said I could try wiping it clean and reinstalling software via CD, but tried to persuade me to take it in. Frankly, I wondered if any of you clever gents know if I can do anything myself. I shall tell you all I know, its a long story but the details I think are rather important...
So it all started a few months ago, I was surfing the web on my iPhone and a new window popped up claiming to be the 'police' and I was in trouble for illegally downloading stuff. I regrettably copy and pasted the url onto my mac. D: So it turned out to be fake and tryied to make me pay out and it also tried to give me a virus I think, it said it has encrypted all my files etc. Every time I tried to leave the site a mac popup said are you sure you want to leave and it kept popping up so I couldn't close safari. Eventually it closed, but I was slightly shaken by this dreadful ordeal that we shall from now on call 'The Unworthy Comeuppance', I then downloaded Sophos antivirus software and it scanned to say everything was clean, although it did say 'issues detected but no threats found'. After search the web i concluded this was normal. End of part 1.
Part 2.
From the beginning of The Unworthy Comeuppance my Laptop has, I believe, slowed down considerably. It most certainly has done from 18 months ago when it was new. Putting this issue aside, however, you will be intrigued to hear the odd predicaments that have become of my much loved MacBook Pro. After resetting Safari and restarting my laptop the following day, I lauched safari only for it to present a jumbley scrambled mixed up mess of scary computer badness, I name it Lucifer. It appeared only for 3 seconds or so, enough to make me poo instantly and be sick all over myself. I soldiered on and all seemed to be well, other than the slowness/not very fastness. Weeks went by, all the while I thought my laptop may have been completely normal. However, one day I launched Safari for who else but Lucifer to reappear! The little **** has shown himself a few times since too, 6 or 7 times in total I think. It has never been an inconvenience or disruption, just a worry. End of part 2.
Part 3.
Noticing longer start up times and slower performance, I worry what has become of my laptop since The Unworthy Comeuppance. One day after restarting, a few graphics were slightly odd, some icons on the dock were blocks of fizzy colours and the bar at the top changed to black/invisible. The only way this went was after I restarted it again. In addition to this, sometimes when it turns on it makes a wierd noise. Normally makes that du u uuuu duuuuu noise, but it did this twice. I do not mean the duuuuuuuuu mac sound on startup. I mean the sound of the hardware, du u uuuu duuuuu. Generally applications take longer to load, especially iPhoto, but all apps take a while now, as well as slow start up. All of which has lead me to this exact moment where you are reading this right now. End of part 3.

...there are known problems with the mid-2010 models (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) as well as early and late 15" 2011 models (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0).
Apple has taken ownership of the problems with the 2010 model but, unfortunately, the free logic board replacement for that model has probably long expired for you - three years after date of purchase.
One the 2011 models Apple has admitted no defect. You'll just have to skim the articles to get an overview of the problems that people are having (usually showing up as screen glitches at first and then going downhill from there).

Welcome to Discussions - have you tried booting from your install disc and using Disk Utility?
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk
Then, boot back to your internal drive and try to repair permissions.

Is there anyone that can tell me a little bit about what is going on?I've restored it several times with no backup at all and it doesn't seem to help. Almost all of my apps crash I have deleted almost all of them hoping if it was a memory prob it would be fixed but no the main one is safari it crashes all the time. It also just acts really weird. When I am typing anything on safari the letters will drag and then slowly catch up when I'm typing. It will also go to a different kind of screen format like its trying to figure out if it's a computer or phone when I rotate the screen. I have go in and delete the website data and clear everything almost everyday and it still does this. Hope that helps, if you have any idea on what's going on or any other advice on how to fix I'd love the help thanks

Can somebody help me install IOS 6.1.3 back to my iPhone 4. IOS 7 or 7.0.4 is not smooth enough as perfect as IOS 6.1.3. I am stuck with this OS, every app gives a break for 4-5 seconds to open up. And playing games in this OS using iPhone 4 is really crazy. Very much disappointed that I am not able to use IOS 7 and cant go back to what I need.

My iPhone 4s acts like I need to plug in to iTunes and I got an error message saying it failed to download update and now the screen won't go away. USB port end on phone with arrow pointing to iTunes...
Now iTunes will not recognize my phone as a device...

I'm VERY happy with the results (fast!). However, the really strange thing is this - there is now a thin yellow line, way over on the right side of the screen, which goes from top to bottom, and stays there no matter where I go or what I do. I've never seen anything like this! It was not there before I did the upgrades. Anyone out there ever heard of such a preposterous thing ~ or have any ideas on how to get rid of it?

As the King says, if your friends wifi router was relatively new, it likely has not been picked up by Apple's location based information database system and thus there is no location information associated with it. So your iPad had no way of getting its location.
The wifi location databases are traditionally updated by wardriving - literally companies employ people to drive around sniffing out active wifi signals and associating an approximate location to it. Some companies also have web sites to submit that information if owners wish to (Apple does not seem to have one though), and the various companies with wifi location databases buy and sell their information. Bottom line is though, it can take weeks, months or sometimes even longer for a residential router to get picked up - depends on where you live (more rural, likely the longer time it takes).
When I moved from VA to NC it took up to 6 months for mine to reflect my new location (I checked it once the week I moved in, and then periodically thereafter, and it finally was getting it right after about 6 months) and I live in a pretty densley populated area (triangle NC). -
When I sync my iPhone5 with my Macbook Pro I get the following message "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected". The strange this is that the phone did not disconnect because it sync my contacts and is charging.

Don't know what you mean by "some time ago", but unless you activated Find My Phone and the phone is still on, the answer is no. (Even if you ask 3 times).

Bought iPhone 5. Really disappointed. Within 2 days, alert sounds and typing sounds are not working. Camera is terrible. My old HTC One S was far superior!
First, no, it is not showing orange. I checked the silent button immediately. Then I checked the sounds section of my settings, but all is good there. When I get a phone call, it rings fine. Alert and typing sounds are not working.
Second..., yes this was a technical point (in which I was hoping someone else might have had the same problem, with a solution), as well as a complaint (definitely one worth making as it is not a minor issue - it is important to hear text alerts when you have children).
