My iphone is completely unresponsive

I left my iphone plugged up to the charger next to my bed all night. The next morning it is completely unresponsive. black screen. pushing the power on/off doesnt work and plugging it to the computer doesnt work as well what do you think is wrong with it. I still have a warranty

Sounds like you'll need to go to Apple and get the phone replaced, doesn't it?

  • Completely unresponsive iPhone 3g, decides to work 8 hours later

So I have seen a lot of posts on people's 3g shutting down, but I have yet to find this exact behavior elsewhere although it happened to both my wife's and my iPhone.
I took my phone off the charging cradle (with full charge) last night, made a phone call, locked it and put it in my pocket. 10 min later, I was going to make another call and the phone was completely unresponsive. It would not even respond to a hard reset. I plugged it into my MacBookPro and the computer did not even recognize it and the phone would not charge, anything. I had a busy night so I set the phone aside and got back to it several hours later. When I did the phone was still unresponsive and it was warm as if it had been in heavy use. I then plugged it into the computer again and went to bed. Shortly after I woke up this morning (8 hours later) the phone turned on, completely dead and began charging. The phone now seems fine.
So if you have the behavior above, put it on the sync cradle and walk away for 12 hours or so and it might come back. This has happened once before to my wife's iPhone and as yet we have gotten no response from Apple as to what might be causing it. Right after my phone died I scheduled a call from Apple for this afternoon so if I get any solutions or information I'll post it here later today.

It was suggested to me that this may help you. I hope that it does!
Personally I'd do a 'reset' - it's something that's worth doing whenever you see anything 'unusual', 'unexpected' or 'unexplained', and although there are other 'deeper' remedies (such as 'restore' and 'restore as new', and DFU), a simple 'reset' (done every month or so too) seems to help to keep our iPhones healthy, even when 'Other' memory usage gets high or when there are poorly-developed Apps causing 'issues'.
I hope that it is not a distraction and helps with your problem.
    Good luck!

  • HT201412 iPhone crashed twice, and is completely unresponsive.

iPhone crashed yesterday and was restored via iTunes; however, the phone crashed again this morning and is completely unresponsive.  The phone will not turn on, off, will not reset, and is not recognized when connected to iPhones, thus restoring again is not possible.  Any suggestions, or is this phone dead?

  • IPhone 6 Plus completely unresponsive screen

I've had my iPhone 6+ since December, and the past few days for extended periods of time (3+ hours) my touchscreen is completely unresponsive. It's almost entirely random when it becomes usable again. I've tried the hard resets, and would do a plain shutdown if I had use of the screen, but alas, I do not. When it starts working again, it becomes completely functional and accurate. What can I do?

    Howdy bpowlison,

  • Iphone completly unresponsive.

Okay so my iphone 4 ios 6.0 is completely unresponsive , wont respond when plugged into wall (with several different chargers - for hours at a time) wont enter dfu (home & power button does nothing.) itunes or computer wont recognize it. no apple logo & or "connect to itunes" no battery symbol nothing. help ? ive tried everything -

It sounds like you know how to do all of the possible resets and have had no success - so unfortunately as you have probably realized, it does appear that your iPhone needs to be replaced.

  • Hi, I tried installing the new software update to my iPod touch this morning, got an error message that I could not finish installing it, and now my iPod is completely unresponsive, please help? It won't respond when I plug it into iTunes or anything.

Hi, thank you for helping me! Every time I plug it into the USB port of my computer, there is an image on my iPod touch that shows a USB cord and tells me to plug it into iTunes, but it is completely unresponsive. I have tried holding the home and power buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds, and that does not do anything either. Any ideas? Thank you so much!

Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?
Try manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then try to restore
    Next try DFU mode.

  • I need to get into my phone, but the screen is completely unresponsive.

I have the iPhone 4 and a few months ago, I dropped my phone and the screen shattered. Now the screen is completely unresponsive and I would like to access my contacts, texts, calls, etc.. Is there anyway I could get into all of that through iTunes or at least my computer?
It's been this way for about a week and the texts and calls are flooding in and I can't even let these people know my phone doesn't work. Which *****.
*I don't have the money to replace/fix my phone at the moment, so I need to find an alternative.
    Thanks.
    -TMB

You cannot access the phone via the computer. You could try and backup the phone and try and access the backup via a 3rd party software, however most of them cost. Touchcopy is a good one to see the texts, but I'm not sure it will allow you to look at the call lists.
I suggest you find a dumbphone so you can at least handle texts and call since you cannot afford to fix the device right now.

  • ITunes Store completely unresponsive

Anyone have any ideas why the latest version of iTunes makes the iTunes store completely unresponsive. The previews don't load properly and it generally hangs.
I'm pretty sure it's a problem at Apples end. Could be costing them a lot of money as it's been like this for weeks now.
Makes the iTunes Store unusable, for me anyway.

Unfortunately not. But I have the same effect for all of iTunes. This program became almost unusable. Hangs when trying to update Podcasts, hangs when trying to sync iPhone (G3), hangs when trying to access MusicStore, hangs, hangs, hangs,....
I have the impression, that Apple overloaded the Program with Apps, and Books and so forth. Hope they have a fix soon....

  • IPhone 4 completely dead after update to iOS 7, anything to be done?

I have an iPhone 4 that I updated to iOS 7 today. Everything was going well; I'd been using the phone normally for a few hours. I was trying to add a picture of a friend from an iMessage to their contact card, and was at the point where I'd hit okay, and was just waiting for it to complete. It took longer than expected, but I just let it sit, and then my screen went blank and turned to this:
The lines are not static (they appear to be moving horizontally, but not vertically), the screen is flickering, and the phone is completely unresponsive. I have tried force restarting by holding down the home and top button for up to a minute, plugging the phone into the wall socket, connecting the phone to my computer, and nothing has caused even the slightest change. I can't even get the screen to turn off.
My question is basically, is there any hope of recovering my phone? Is there anything I can do now? If I just wait for it to die, is there a chance I can restore it?

    hi there Stagamancer
Sorry i know this isnt relevant to your current discussion but would you able to find out on your iphone 4 do you have dynamic backgrounds soo frustrating that my Iphone 4 8GB doesnt show dynamic wallpapers which is a right shame to the ios 7 of iphone 4
if you could kindly check on your device
    thanks

  • My ipod touch is completely unresponsive.  Will not turn on at all even when connected to power???? HELP!!!

ipod touch completely unresponsive.  will not turn on at all even when connected to power source.  is it dead????

After charging for at least an hour reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect the iPod to your computer and see if iTunes sees the iPod.  If it does try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  If it is not visible try the following to make it visible:
--- Place it in recovery mode via:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    --- Place in DFU mode:

  • Whilst Charging, Iphone is almost unresponsive

Not sure if anybody else has issues with this, but since the IOS4 update, whenever my phone is on charge the phone becomes really slow and jumpy. Cant even type or browse apps as it slows down to much and then tries to catch up and does a billion things at once. And the most annoying thing is that the bottom part of the screen is almost completely unresponsive, only the top half of the screen wants to work whilst charging, and this aint all that brilliant. Anybody else experiencing this issue????????

If you plug it into the computer, is it recognized by iTunes?
If it is, try doing a restore.
If it is not recoginized by the computer or iTunes, it sounds
like you may have an ex-iPhone.  Time to contact Apple support
or get an appointment at a Genius Bar at an Apple Store.

  • IPhone 4s completely frozen

So, since I got my iPhone 4s last December, it sometimes keeps freezing after long phonecalls. It might do it once or twice a month. It wasnt too regular to worry about it as it normally sorted itself out, as I would just wipe the screen clean and lock it and unlock it a few times using the button on the top of the phone and it would unfreeze without any problems.
Tonight though after being on the phone for around 45 minutes, my phone completly freezes and I can't get it unlocked at all. I cant get into my phone to do anything as I can't swipe it to unlock or turn off.
I have tried to reboot (where you press the lock and the home button until you see the apple logo) a number of times and I have even restored my phone to factory settings but neither thing has worked.
My iPhone is completly up to date (ios 6.0.1) as is my iTunes. My phone is just over a year old too, and no other problems with it. No cracks, knicks or scrapes on it either. It's very well looked after. I have done everything as instructed on the support page and have looked through numerous threads and forums but no suggestion has seemed to help or resolve the issue.
Unfortunatly I don't live near any apple store either so genius bar is a last resort for me.
Any help or suggestions would be really appriciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPhone 3g has unresponsive touchscreen and sleeper button...

Out of nowhere my iPhone 3G has an completely unresponsive touchscreen. The home button and volume control still work, but the sleeper button on the top has not been working for some time. I would really appreciate anybody's help or advice in this, thanks.

Sorry to hear that your iPhone is having so much trouble. Rare, but both these problems can be due to faulty Logic Board and therefore your iPhone would need to be replaced. More commonly however, it is not the Logic Board, and these can be fixed. The repairs are difficult and probably not worth the time or money, so a new iPhone is possibly the best choice. The sleep button repair is very difficult and requires replacement of the Headphone Jack Cable Complex (Flex Cable #5). The unresponsive touchscreen is a faulty digitizer. This can be due to breakage of the screen, visible or not, or can be due to Flex Cable #2 (Digitizer Flex Cable) coming loose from the Logic Board. If #2 is just loose, then Apple Genius at my store will reseat #2 to the Logic Board for free. If it is faulty, then fix is, replacement of Glass Front Screen with the Digitizer attached. Good Luck.

  • IPhone 6 screen unresponsive and flickering

My iPhone 6 screen all of a sudden became completely unresponsive. It no longer responds to any kinds of touch inputs. Furthermore, when on, the screen is constantly flickering with grids. I tried restarting, to no avail. as well as putting it in DFU Mode, resetting it, and restoring from backup-- nothing solves the problem. Is the only way to fix this to take it to the Apple store?

In the last couple of weeks (and nothing has changed) - I noticed that my iPhone 6 will remain in landscape mode if I lift it up too quickly.  It's not frozen - but it's not detecting that it is upright.  The workaround seems to be lower the phone to a horizontal position and then lift it again - slowly - and that seems to restore the portrait mode.  I could understand if this started happening immediately after an update - but it did not - it started about 2 weeks ago.  Typically the app that I use in landscape mode (the most) is youtube.  I'm wondering if it is something with the YouTube app - but I don't recall any recent updates for it either.
