My iphone is cutting out and then when the apple sign appears i have tried to restore it on my macbook and it come up with an error any suggestions as to what i can do?

its really weird my iphone just cut out yesterday and nothing was working hard reset anything left it on a docking station all night and this morning when i woke up the apple sign appeared, have tried doing a hard restore and to no success. It has now blacked out again any suggestions?

The red X has appeared in my Ipod Classic Screen. Apple support tells me that I need to first put it manually on disk mode. to put it on disk mode I ought to press menu and select buton togeher, when the apple sign shows up, hold select button and play together.

Thank you everyone for the replies. It defiantly helped point me in the right direction. With any luck, I will have my replacement phone sometime tomorrow.
I was able to call the iPhone support line this morning. The Apple rep stayed on the line with me for about an hour until he was sure the new phone would ship out. For $199 plus $29 for expedited handling I was able to get the replacement ordered with overnight shipping. Since the replacement doesn’t involve ATT&T I have no reason to suspect any further delays. Kudos to the Apple rep that helped me straighten out this mess.
It’s a shame that AT&T cares so little for their existing customers. Not only did they try to sell me the same phone for $499, they outright refused to help me. They also lied to me on numerous occasions and strung me along for close to three weeks for something that only took an hour to complete with the Apple rep.
I filed a formal complaint against AT&T through the Better Business Burrow as well as requested a review of our cooperate contract with AT&T. Our company currently has over 3000 phones with AT&T and there contract comes up for bid the end of our fiscal year (this October). We will be giving it heavy consideration before we consider renewing their contract.
I doubt that any of that will matter to a company that cares so little about their customers, but you never know.
Thanks again for all your help. I would probably still be trying to get my replacement for the next few months if it wasn’t for your suggestions.

I have checked for problems with the connections, but from what i can see with the naked eye, nothing appears abnormal. It is very strange, and very sudden. It just stopped in the middle of a charge. No I haven´t take it to Apple Store, i think I will actually. My iphone was jailbroken and ulocked with gevey sim, but when this failures began i decided to restore it, and I did preserve the baseband, but when I took it into one of these "Places" they told me it would be a good idea to do a clean restore and see if this fixed the problem so I upgraded my baseband, and right now my iphone is freshly restore, no jailbreak no nothing.

You can try a system reinstall:

If it is otherwise working, you can change the battery. If you want to do it yourself, you can buy the part on eBay and other online sources. Just make sure you know the type of iPod you have so that you get the right part.

If it is just the battery, if you do a Reset (using the Menu and Select buttons) while it is connect to your computer, I think it should still be recognized by iTunes.

DFU mode an try to restore to iOS6.1.4 it will wipe out the whole device if it works but than youll kno if its a software issue if it works or ahardware issue if it dont work

Did you try to connect in recovery mode and restore without using the latest backup?

If setting up as new device does not work, you'll have to get it serviced or looked at by visiting an Apple Store.
Did you try to remove the ipsw firmware file and restore, to make iTunes download a new copy from Apple?

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). I fixed the issue. It was related to the DEP settings on my windows machine.
