  • Iphone is frozen and itunes will not recognize the iphone for a restore

my facebook app was giving me problems while trying to update my status, so I decided to delete the app and try to re-install it. after deleting the app, the phone froze. I decided to do a soft reset, and the phone will initially boot up only to the apple image on the screen and them immediately shut back off. I've tried to do multiple other soft restarts, but it won't get past the apple logo on the screen before shutting completely off again.
the phone is out of warranty and I was told by the support line that I need to do a backup restore, but now my itunes won't even recognize the iphone to give me the option to do a restore from backup.
I have an iphone with 3.1.3 and Windows Vista.
    thanks for all you help!

Unfortunately it never gave me the option to restore from backup. only to do a complete restore to factory. I reconnected the phone to the computer and in the process of doing another restore. this time it actually showed the progress on the iphone screen as opposed to the first run only showing the apple logo on the screen. I believe you may have saved my phone! I will let you know in a few...

  • My iphone is frozen since I tried upgrading on itunes

my iphone is frozen on a screen with an apple and a bar under it since I tried to upgrade with itunes. How do i get it to work again?

Put your iPhone into the recovery mode and try to update it again, to do so follow these steps:
    Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.
    Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
    Step Three
As soon as the screen goes black release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
The iPhone will look like this:

  • IPhone 4 frozen with screen image of usb connector with arrow to iTunes logo.  iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone message says in recovery mode must restore.  Try to restore and get - 1 error.  What do I do now??

    Hi there beee19,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

I have such problem, at iphone 4s connection to itunes there is a synchronization well and after iphone is frozen and the woman explaining the instruction starts to speak (How to unblock how to switch off a sound, etc.). iphone reacts to one team, and the woman tells everything and speaks. I took iphone from a wire, but it didn't react. At attempt to switch off it it is switched off, but deletes all files which only existed on this device. What to do and how to solve this problem?

Try posting in your native language. I can't even figure out what your "problem" is from this.

  • My iPhone is frozen. Troubleshooting doesn't work

My shiny new iPhone that I waited in line for on SF on Friday is iFrozen.
    I have about 30 threaded text conversations, 30 contacts, 3 email accounts, 20 photo's, 600 songs, 2 TV shows and 1 movie.
I understand photo's, songs, video and contacts will synch back to my phone if reset.
The device is not an iPod, it's a Phone, which means I would HATE to lose my threaded text conversations and have to setup up my email accounts AGAIN (after 3 days of use).
iPod hard reset? No big deal, less is lost (sometimes).
Phone hard reset? Not good at all.
On top of these issues, Safari has crashed on me at least 7 times and while I was playing music on the ipod app i decided to hop over to my text messages to send a message. Once I got in the text message app the ipod app crashed (i.e. the music in my car stopped playing).
    Crashes and now it's frozen.
    Restarting (doesn't work):
Try restarting iPhone. To turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Unfreeze (doesn't work):
Does iPhone appear frozen or stuck? Try pressing and holding the Home button for 6 seconds to close a frozen application. Then try restarting iPhone again.
Is the "reset" option in troubleshooting a hard reset?
On my Windows Mobile phone I can pop out the battery and it will recover through the safe mode boot without having to hard reset the device.
Is there another way to unfreeze this thing?
Current iPhone state: Displaying Home screen, touch unresponsive, on/off switch unresponsive, home button unresponsive.
Strangely iTunes still recognizes the phone when i connect it to my Mac and goes through the entire synch process fine.
Why isn't there a soft reset in iTunes to send to the phone?
Phone calls go straight to voicemail.
    Best,
    Rob
(good thing I bought 2 8GB's on Friday in SF)

    No, get the screen fixed.

  • IPhone not recognized by iTunes any more

    iTunes 9.0.2 on a 2006 iMac 2GHz intel duo running OSX 10.5.8
    iPhone 3Gs 32 gig
    iPod (5th gen)
3 external hard drives, all the iTunes library stored on a Mybook 1 TB Firewire drive plugged into iMac direct, not via a Firewire hub.
I plugged my iPhone into the Mac this am, tried to sync the iPhone and got an error message saying that something was wrong with my iTunes.
    Mac then froze.
Finally got the Mac back up after five attempts (eventually, had to unplug everything, including the mains to the iMac, plug in just the power, keyboard and mouse, press and hold power switch for 5 secs then plug in each extra drive when the Mac came back up).
Found something seriously wrong with iTunes as it wouldn't open when clicked on (Force Quit reported app frozen).
Deleted iTunes using AppZap then downloaded iTunes from Apple website.
iTunes now back up on iMac but can't find any of the music files (even when I carefully repoint the iTunes to the correct location for the iTunes library by iTunes/Preferences/Advanced then Change iTunes Media Folder Location). Each entry in the iTunes library now has a black exclamation mark against it,
Also, iTunes doesn't see my iPhone when I plug it in.
Also, when I plug in my iPod, get the error message "The iPod is synced with anotehr iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?"
    HELP!
By the way, I have TIME MACHINE running to a separate and dedicated HD. Can I not just "roll back" my iMac in the same way I could do with a PC, say selecting the iMac when it was last working fine (yesterday evening)??
Keeping fingers crossed and hoping for an answer....
    Chris

Rather than create another "iPhone not recognized by iTunes" thread, I'll add to this one. I have an iPhone 3G 8GB.
After going through those steps you listed, my Windows XP installation always reverts back to the old Windows Apple iPhone drivers which only sees it as a camera. I've had it set to only pull from the iTunes drivers by specifying "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" in the Hardware Update Wizard. Windows still doesn't like the iTunes drivers stating "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware". This location is the same as you noted: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers" which contains:
    usbaapl.cat
    usbaapl.inf
    usbaapl.sys
    All dated 7/22/2008.
My current drivers for the iPhone in my setup are still the MS drivers, version 5.1.2600.0.
    usbscan.sys
    ptpusb.dll
    ptpusd.dll
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
